Chapter 1139

Marrying the Man in the Dark

Chapter 1139 A Startling Revelation

Damien emerged from the shower looking revitalized, leaning in to plant a gentle kiss on Cherise's cheeks. "Hungry?" he asked.

Cherise's quivered slightly, her voice barely a whisper. "What kind of hunger are you talking about?"

A faint chuckle escaped the man's lips. "That, my dear, hinges on where exactly Mrs. Lenoir feels hunger."

His gaze traversed over her naked form as the words left his mouth.

Swiftly tugging on the blanket around her, proceeding to wrap her entire body in it, Cherise said, "My stomach is famished."

"Prepare some oatmeal for me," she added.

Damien then laughed heartily at her response. "Very well, I'll prepare a bowl of

honey oatmeal for that stomach of yours."

Attentive to the fading sounds of his receding footsteps as they traveled downstairs, Cherise slumped back vertically on the bed.

He's akin to a wolf, Cherise mused to herself.

Now in his thirties, Damien should have lost some of the vigor he possessed during his twenties, shouldn't he?

Yet, paradoxically, the older he grew, the more insatiable he became in bed, leaving her struggling to match his pace...

The faint click of the ignited stove reached her ears, soon accompanied by the gentle bubbling of oats simmering in a saucepan.

Cherise lay beneath the covers, her gaze fixed on the ceiling, a smile slowly tugging the corners of her lips. Despite enduring a night of relentless passion, tossing and turning about, and utterly depleted of energy, the simple gesture of him preparing a meal for her at this hour brought her immense joy.

The more she dwelled on it, the more buoyant her spirits became. Unable to contain her delight, she reached for her phone, eager to share her bliss with friends. As she unlocked her screen, a message from Heather appeared.

'Cherry, if my memory serves me right, Lennon had his sights set on your best friend, didn't he? So why the sudden announcement from the Belcourts today about Lennon marrying Violet?'

'Weren't they raised as siblings?'

'Even if they're not blood-related, isn't it peculiar for two individuals brought up as siblings to be wedded off?'

'And what will happen to your best friend? Why would Lennon suddenly propose to his younger sister?'

Cherise rested against the headboard, phone in hand, her head swimming as she absorbed the messages from Heather.

How is this possible...

Just this very evening, Damien had fervently confided in her, asserting that Lennon couldn't shake off his feelings for Lucy.

He was ready to remain in Yatesville to assist Colin solely for Lucy's happiness. Lennon was undeniably smitten and had a deep affection for Lucy.

Yet, the man Damien depicted as having profound affections for Lucy... was now betrothed to Violet, the very girl he had grown up with his whole life!

She pressed her lips together, her hands trembling as she reached for her phone, dialing Heather's number. "Are you absolutely certain you heard correctly?"

"There must be some sort of misunderstanding... '

"

"What do you mean 'misunderstanding'?" Heather shot back promptly.

Then Heather interjected, "Haven't you heard? The Belcourt family has been broadcasting news of this wedding far and wide! It's set for the fifteenth of the upcoming month!"

With anger and indignation coursing through her veins, Heather exclaimed, "Why?"

"I used to hold Lennon in high regard; I believed he was a decent man. How could

he suddenly decide to marry his own childhood companion, his little sister?"

"Even though it was common knowledge that they weren't biologically related, considering Lennon was adopted into the Belcourt family...'

"But they grew up as siblings... and now, out of nowhere, they're declaring their intention to wed. I'm struggling to come to terms with it... "

"Ah, that's right, Cherise, isn't your bestie... "

Given the gravity of the situation, Cherise doubted Heather would jest about such matters with her.

She pressed her lips together, exhaling heavily before responding, "My best friend recently tied the knot."

With Lennon's impending marriage to Violet already public knowledge, Cherise felt compelled to disclose Lucy's marriage prematurely. It was a preemptive measure to safeguard Lucy's dignity, ensuring that in future conversations, Lucy wouldn't be portrayed as the abandoned one.

Even though she had indeed been left behind four years prior...
