Chapter 180
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 180 Tainted Tales
âWhat if I refuse to tell you?â
Dr. Johnson sighed heavily. âThe girl is already pregnant, and their relationship seems. fine. Why
meddle?â
Ian, on the phone, was left utterly stunned. âNo, that canât be!â
How could Cherise be pregnant? She had only been married to Damien for just over a month!
âSheâs indeed pregnant, but it hasnât been long, Dr. Mark said.
âYou need to trust your uncleâs experience. My pulse diagnosis is much more accurate than early
pregnancy tests,â Dr. Johnson reassured earnestly.
He sighed, âlan, you should focus on your own life. Let othersâ¦â
âDamien isnât blind, right?â
Ian narrowed his eyes on the phone. Dr. Johnson wouldnât have said so much if Damien werenât blind.
âWhether heâs blind or not, Cherise and her child do not concern you.â
âIâve got it!â
Ian snorted coldly and hung up the phone.
He couldnât and wouldnât let Cherise bear Damienâs child!
She was pure, innocent, and devoted to her family.
If she gives birth to Damienâs child, she will never leave him for the rest of her life.
Cherise felt dejected and guided Damien back from the Johnson village to the Shaw Family village.
When they arrived at the entrance, they encountered Ben, who was burdened with bags. Behind him, a
teary-eyed Vivian trailed.
âGive me a break,â Cherise scoffed under her breath.
Ben sneered upon seeing Cherise and Damien. He glared at Cherise coldly and scoffed, âMarried a
disabled person and now shamelessly dragging a disabled man back home. How embarrassingâ
âAnd how did Elvis end up with such a shameless girl?â he scowled.

Vivian heard and frowned. She gently pushed Ben. âDad, leave them alone.â
âThat blind guy is quite powerful, you know,â Vivian warned.
Her husband was arrested last night, and his dislocated wrist hadnât fully healed yet!
Ben snorted and gave Vivian a disdainful glare. âSo, Dexter went in and took your guts with him?â
âA blind guy like him, what is there to be afraid of?â
âHoney, letâs go,â Cherise said, pulling Damien away.
Cherise quickly led Damien away from Ben and Vivian, avoiding conflict with the father- daughter pair,
and headed towards another alley to go home.
However, Ben wasnât willing to let her off so quickly.
The sun shone bright in the sky, casting long shadows across the village paths. The air was filled with
the sounds of the busy farmers heading home for a well-deserved lunch after a morningâs hard work in
the fields.
Ben raised his voice and declared, âListen, everyone! I was telling the truth! A few days back, I told you
all about the little girl Elvis saved and gave away to a blind man in return for treating his motherâs
illness. Can you imagine that some of you doubted it?â
âNow look, the one sheâs supporting, with something covering his eyes, isnât that the blind. man?â
âWas I lying? Elvisâs family is heartless. This Cherise is just silly!â
The villagers came to a sudden halt, staring at Cherise and Damien while murmurs filled.
the air.
Cherise could feel her anger well in her chest as she went cold with fury.
She guided Damien carefully through the onlookers, heading home.
Benâs voice slowly faded as he mocked, âCan you hide forever?â
âYou married a disabled man just for money, and now you canât bear to hear the truth!?â
Cherise clenched her fists tightly. Her anger was mounting, and she was about to explode with rage.
Damien lightly furrowed his brow and reached for her hand. âDoes it bother you?â

Cherise was puzzled and looked up
at him.
âBother me? What do you mean?â
âDo you mind being ridiculed for marrying a disabled man?â Damien questioned.
Cherise shook her head. âIâve never minded, not at all.â
