Chapter 186
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 186 Worth Less Than A Blade Of Grass
âWho would have thought that Cheriseâs husband would have such untoward intentions.
towards me⦠Sobâ¦â
Cherise darted forward and shielded Damien behind her. âYouâre lying! My husband would never do
such a thing!â
The village chief frowned. He sighed quietly before asking, âVivian, think it over carefully. Could you
have been mistaken? I donât think Cheriseâs husband would do that either.â
âMaybe you forgot to announce your presence when you entered, and he mistook you for
Cherise?â
Damien narrowed his eyes.
The village chief had chosen his words carefully.
It may look like he was trying to help Damien by convincing Vivian that it was just a simple
misunderstanding.
But his words were cleverly phrased to insinuate that something inappropriate had happened between
Damien and Cherise, denying him the chance to explain.
It turned out that while the village chief appeared impartial, he had ulterior motives.
Vivian sniffled. She covered herself with a robe and dabbed her eyes. âI struggled and told him I wasnât
Cherise. And he said he knew it was me all along.â
âYouâre lying!â
Cherise shielded Damien behind her. âMy husband isnât the kind of person who would do something
like that!â
Ben rolled his eyes. âYouâve only been married to him for a month. How would you know. the kind of
person he is? What if heâs just pretending to be a gentleman?â
He darted a glance at Elvis. âYour daughter is way too naïve for her own good. The man is obviously
lying to her, yet sheâs serving herself on a silver platter!â
Elvis paled. He turned his full attention towards Damien, âMr. Lenoir, tell me what really happened.â
âWhat more does he have to say?â
Vivian crumpled onto the floor in tears. âHeâs not going to admit to it and accuse me of

lying!â
The village chief thought deeply before sighing in exasperation. âThatâs true⦠Who would admit to
doing something they shouldnât have?â
The people around them started muttering among themselves.
Cheriseâs hands were balled into fists.
Why would Damien choose Vivian, of all people?
Why did he stop on their wedding night if he were the type to sleep around with any woman?
Cherise clenched her teeth and glared at Vivian. âYouâre lying! Youâre trying to frame my
husband!â
Vivian sneered at her and gave her a pitiful look as if she felt bad for Cherise. âMe? Frame him?â
âWhy would I tarnish my innocence by falsely accusing a blind man?â
âBesides, why would I frame him? Is a blind man like him worth all this effort?â
Cherise bottom lip trembled in anger. âYouâre trying to frame him! Youâre deliberately lying about this!â
She had always been terrible with confrontations and accusations. Especially times like this when she
was pushed into a corner. All she could do was glare at Vivian.
Vivian chuckled.
Cherise hadnât changed. She was still easily defeated like before.
Did she think sheâd be more powerful after getting married?
Vivian smiled. âCherise, you and I are very different people. You treat this blind man like at pearl. But in
my eyes, heâs worth less than a blade of grass.â
Cherise pursed her lips, âVivian, sooner or later, youâll get whatâs coming to you!â
âMaybe I will, maybe I wonât. I donât know. But right nowâ¦â
Vivian turned to the village chief. She sniffled and dabbed at her eyes, âWhat should we do
about thisâ¦â

âMy husband is still in jail. If he finds out, heâll want Damienâs life.â
âAnd⦠If news about this gets out, my reputation will take a hitâ¦â
The village chief frowned and looked at Damien. âMr. Lenoir will need to be punished for his offenses.â
