Chapter 272
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 272 The Prodigyâs Downfall
âWhat? You got two questions wrong?â she exclaimed loudly. âI canât believe it! Youâve been getting fuil
marks every time! Even I only got one question wrong!â
She caught everyoneâs attention.
âJessie Reese, are you kidding us? Sheâs in love and taking a break now. Do you think sheâs the same
Cherise as before? You must be crazy to check your answers with her,â another girl retorted.
sarcastically.
Jessie giggled. âYouâre right. I almost forgot that Cherise is not the top student anymore. Iâll check with
Mandy instead-I bet she got everything right.â
With that, she flitted over to Mandy. âWow, Mandy, you really got full marks! Iâm so envious of you-
youâre pretty and intelligent, scoring full marks in every subject. You deserve to be a student
ambassador, indeed!â
Cherise clenched her fists tightly upon hearing Jessieâs plain adoration.
âCherry, on the second day Mandy arrived, the entire cohort decided to hand over your student
ambassador role to her. I tried to stop them, but I failedâ¦â Lucy said in a small voice.
It was only at that moment Cherise noticed some scratch marks on Lucyâs face. With a frown, she
touched those scars lightly. âWhat-â
âI got into a fight with them, thatâs all.â Lucy avoided her touch. âItâs been a week since Mandy arrived. I
kept it from you because I wanted you to have a good rest at home.â
As people gathered around Mandy, Lucy said through gritted teeth, âF*ck!â
âItâs been two weeks since you attended any lectures. Itâs already quite impressive to only get two
questions wrong while theyâve been here the entire time. Whatâs there to brag about?â
Cherise rubbed Lucyâs hair soothingly, mimicking how Damien used to calm her down. âCome on,
thereâs no need to hold grudges.â
âBut you were the student ambassador, and you used to be in the spotlight. Those fools!â
To Cherise, Lucy seemed to have cared too much. âI actually donât like being in the center of attention,
and it feels pretty good without any other responsibilities,â Cherise explained as she shot a glance at
Mandy.
âLetâs walk around the campus.â With that, she pulled Lucy off her seat.
Ever since she became the student ambassador, she was approached with various questions and had
to help everyone. It had been a long time since she last walked around the campus leisurely.
Lucy looked at her incredulously, âYou donât mind this at all?â

âOn the contrary, this is exactly what Iâm hoping for.â
âCoffee on me?â Cherise took her purse out.
âDouble shot, please!â Lucyâs eyes lit up.
âNo problem.â Cherise replied with a smile.
Both of them left with a wide smile on their faces.
On the other hand, buried within the throngs of people asking her for help, Mandy clenched her pen
tightly as she saw Cherise strutting away happily.
Her plan was to take away everything Cherise owned on campus and deal a devastating blow that
would break her apart.
However, it was out of her expectations that they mattered so little to Cherise.
In the afternoon, another lecturer asked Mandy to solve a physics problem in front of everyone.
She gave a cold smile and said, âI think there are two ways to solve this problem.â
