Chapter 383
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 383 Iâll Keep My Promise
âThese two are the sons of my friends from the army. They came to visit me.â
Elvis smiled when he saw Cherise. âIt looks like you had a great time in Europe. Your cheeks have
gotten rounder.â
Cherise was surprised and instinctively touched her cheeks. âReally? That canât be true!â
I remember to exercise every day!
I even controlled my intake of ice cream and cake. How could I have gained weight?
âUncle Shaw.â
As Cherise pondered, Damien entered the house carrying a box.
He immediately noticed the two men sitting on the couch.
Elvis repeated the explanation he had given Cherise.
Then, he smiled and turned to the two men. âMy niece and her husband have arrived. Would you
gentlemen mind waiting in the inner room?â
âThey will only be here for half an hour. I will discuss your fathersâ matters shortly.â
The men exchanged glances and did not object. âWe will wait for half an hour. Please donât delay it any
further.â
The taller man warned before heading to the inner room.
âSure, sure.â
Elvis smiled and continued, âIâll keep my promise. Donât worry.â
After the two men left, Elvis sighed and looked at the suitcase in Damienâs hands. âDid you bring
presents for us?â
âYes!â
Cherise looked around the room excitedly. âWhereâs Aunt Sarah and Grandma?â
âAnd where are Sky and Tay? Isnât it summer vacation?â
Elvis shook his head resignedly. âItâs summer, and you know how much your grandmother loves
watching people play cards. After lunch, she dragged your aunt to the back street to

âSky and Tay are in the middle of their summer vacation. However, they will have exams. soon, so I
enrolled them in extra classes.â
âOhâ¦â
Cherise looked down, feeling disappointed.
She had informed them earlier that she would be back from Europe.
Furthermore, she even called her uncle from the airport. She thought the whole family. would be
waiting to welcome her home.
In the end, only her uncle was at home. And there were two unfamiliar

guests.
He chuckled and replied, âI didnât tell your grandmother that you would be back. I wanted to surprise
her.â
âUnfortunately, the plan backfired. She and your aunt went out before I could stop them.â
Elvis patted Cheriseâs head. âDo you want me to call them to come home?â
âItâs okay.â
Cherise pursed her lips. âI will see them again. I will come back another time to talk to
Grandma.â
After all, she had only planned to stay for half an hour and leave after dropping off the gifts.
She had to leave soon because she had missed a lot of classes and the final exams were approaching.
She couldnât afford to delay her studies any longer.
With that in mind, Cherise sighed. âI will have finals in less than half a month.â
âOnce I finish my finals and start summer vacation, I will come here and stay for a few days. Then,
Grandma will be able to see me every day. She wonât have time to watch people play cards anymore!â
âBesides, Iâm good at card games. I can play with her.â

Cherise had spent many summer vacations playing cards with her grandmother and aunt.
The memories filled her with nostalgia.
âHaha, great!â
Elvis smiled and patted Cheriseâs shoulder. âCan you show me what you bought?â
Upon hearing that, Cherise turned around and opened the suitcase.
