Chapter 431
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 431 Whereâs Damien?
âI canât believe youâre defending him.â
Lucy sighed, âYou have no idea what happened, do you?â
âYour husband attacked Lennon last night.â
âLennon tried to call Damien today to apologize and asked him to come to the company for some work
matters, but Damien refused!â
âIn the end, he got Jacob to conceal his cuts and bruises, so they werenât visible, and went to work.â
Cherise laughed, âHow do you know this? Are you with him?â
âI am not! Donât make things up!â
Cherise couldnât help but laugh, âYou amaze me.â
âYou took care of him all night, yet you claim not to like him anymore.â
âLucy, youâre such a hypocrite!â
Cherise laughed when she suddenly realized something strange..
âDid you say that Lennon went to work today?â
But Frances said Damien had left early in the morning
to handle some work matters!
âYes, I did.â
Lucy frowned. âWhatâs wrong?â
âAre
you sure? He tried to contact Damien but was turned down, and then he went to work himself?â
âYes.â
Lucy could sense something was wrong. âCherry, whatâs wrong?
Cheriseâs heart sank.
If Damien hadnât gone to the company, why did he lie to Frances and her?
She took a deep breath and recounted her earlier conversation with Frances to Lucy. âLet me ask
Frances for more details.â
âMr. Lenoir didnât personally tell me he was going to the companyâ

Frances looked puzzled. âIt was Mr. Kolson. Mr. Kolson informed me.â
âMr. Lenoir was already in the car when he told me.â
âMr. Kolson is Mr. Lenoirâs chauffeur. He wouldnât lie to me, would he?â Frances asked in bewilderment.
Cherise bit her lip and tried Damienâs phone again.
It went unanswered.
She decided to call Mr. Kolson.
To her surprise, Mr. Kolson answered after two rings.
âMadam.â
âWhereâs Damien?â
Cherise took a deep breath. For some reason, she had a bad feeling about this.
âMr. Lenoir is in the emergency room.â
Mr. Kolsonâs voice was devoid of any emotion. âWe were attacked on the way to the office this morning.
Mr. Lenoir is seriously injured.â
Crash! Cheriseâs phone slipped out of her hand and fell onto the floor.
âMadam!â
Cherise woke up to find herself in the hospital.
Lucy was sitting next to her, holding her hand. Her eyes were red and swollen from tears.
âHow is Damienâ¦â
Cherise massaged her throbbing temples and asked quietly.
âHeâs out of danger.â
Lucy squeezed Cheriseâs hand. âThe doctor said you fainted from shock.â
Jacob came by and said that Damien is doing much better. So donât worry too much.â
âI want to see himâ¦â
Cherise struggled to sit up. âI canât relax until Iâve seen himâ¦â
âHeâs fine now. You can go see him later.â

Lucy made her lie back down. âThereâs not much you can do for him now. Youâre not a doctor. He has
Jacob, and his family will take care of him. Nothing will happen.â
âYou, on the other hand, havenât fully recovered from that cold you caught in Shawâs Village. With the
shock you experienced last night and this morning added to thatâ¦â
âThe doctor said you might have a breakdown if you donât get enough rest.â
Cherise bit her lip. âI still want to see him.
Taking a deep breath, she pulled herself up and put on her shoes. Swaying on her feet, she said,
âWhere is he?â
