Chapter 558
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 558 I Know Youâre In There
In that moment, she felt a sense of tranquility in his embrace.
âCherise.â
His deep voice resonated from his chest, reaching Cheriseâs ears.
She pursed her lips and replied softly, âYes?â
âIs there a wayâ¦â
He closed his eyes, his deep voice solemn. âFor me to develop a tolerance for spicy food?â
âI donât want you to give up spicy food because of me in the future, nor do I want to simply watch you eat what you
enjoy.â
âI was thinkingâ¦
âDonât even consider it!â
Cherise interrupted with pursed lips, âYou have stomach issues and a low tolerance for capsaicin. Itâs a natural
predisposition. Donât even think about it!â
âButâ¦â
âNo butsâ,â
She was as stubborn as she was five years ago. She dismissed Damienâs counterarguments. âIf you canât handle it,
donât force yourself to eat it.â
âBut you enjoyâ¦â
âThatâs not your concern.â
Cherise took a deep breath. âIf you canât handle it, donât push yourself.â
âButâ¦
âNo âbutsâ.â
She closed her eyes, sighing in frustration. âTo be honest, I donât actually like spicy food.â
âI prefer sweet dishes.
âI pretended to like spicy food and ordered a table full of it because⦠because I wanted to annoy you. I just wanted
you to watch me eat.â
âI didnât realizeâ¦â
She shook her head in resignation. âDamien, how did I never realize how foolish you are?â
He was slightly taken aback. âLâ¦â
As they silently looked at each other, the frantic ringing of the doorbell interrupted them.

âDr. Shaw! Dr. Shaw, open up!â
âI know youâre in there!â
This voiceâ¦
Cheriseâs heart immediately raced in alarm.
She recognized this voice all too well!
This isâ¦
âItâs me, Syatt Posten!â
Outside, Syatt Posten, dressed in black, excitedly rang the doorbell. âYou must remember me!â
âI saw you coming up, so I followed you. I hope Iâm not intruding?â
Damien frowned. He looked down at Cherise in his arms. âWho is he?â
Cherise immediately felt a headache coming on. âHeâs one of my patientsâ¦
âAnd the heir to this hotel.â
Taking a deep breath, she extricated herself from Damienâs arms and got out of bed. âIs something wrong?â
âNo.â
Outside the door, Syatt scratched his head bashfully. âYou saved my life, but I havenât properly thanked
you yet.â
âAlsoâ¦â
âIâve been discharged from the hospital for two weeks and happened to run into you, Dr. Shaw. Could you perhaps
give me a quick check-up?â
âIf itâs inconvenient here, I can visit the hospital tomorrowâ¦â
The veins on Cheriseâs forehead throbbed.
She remembered Syattâs visit to the hospitalâ¦
That scene was more dramatic and cheesier than Damien presenting roses to her in the hospital lobby today.
After that day, Lucy had teased her relentlessly for two weeks.
She wouldnât allow such a spectacle to happen again!
She took a deep breath and pursed her lips. âIâll step out and examine you now. Just wait.â
She picked up her coat and turned to Damien. âYou should be fine here. Iâll check on him first, then return to the
hospital.â
After that, Cherise grabbed her coat and left.

Outside, Syatt looked at her admiringly. âDr. Shaw, I havenât seen you in two weeks, but youâre still as beautiful as
ever.â
Cherise frowned and glanced at him indifferently. âLetâs find a place to sit. Your heart is fine, but if youâre still
worried, Iâll give you a quick check-up.â

while.â
Syatt pursed his lips and murmured, âBut I enjoy being alone with youâ¦
Cherise gathered her coat and handbag and headed towards the bench, with Syatt reluctantly trailing behind.
They had barely taken a few steps when the door behind them swung open abruptly.
Syatt was startled and instinctively turned back.
A man dressed in trousers and a white shirt emerged from the room.
