Chapter 564
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 564 I Hit Myself
Upon seeing his tear-streaked face, Cherise felt overwhelming sympathy. She approached him, pursing her lips, and
handed him a tissue while reassuring him. âIâm here.â
Syatt took a deep breath and accepted the tissue with a pitiful expression, wiping away his tears. âDr. Shaw, Iâm
distraught.â
Cherise sat by his bedside, her lips still pursed, and gently comforted him. âItâs alright. Itâs all in the
now.â
âI assure you that Damien will never appear before you again.â
Syattâs hand froze as he wiped his tears.
He looked up at Cherise tearfully. âWhy?â
Why?
Itâs obviously to protect you from harm!
Cherise took a deep breath. âItâs for your safety. Moving forwardâ¦â
âFor my safety?â
Syatt was taken aback. âDr. Shaw, have you misunderstood something?â
âWhereâs Mr. Lenoir?â
Cherise was dumbstruck.
âMr. Lenoir?â
âYes.â

Syattâs tearful eyes blinked. âDamien and I are now as close as brothers. From now on, Iâll refer to him as Mr. Lenoir
out of respect.â
Cherise was so taken aback that she was momentarily speechless.
âDidnât you⦠have a fight with Damien?â
âA fight?â
Now it was Syattâs turn to be surprised. âWhy would I have a fight with him?â
Cherise pursed her lips. âWhat about the handprint on your faceâ¦
âThis?â
Syatt touched the swollen handprint mark on his face. âI hit myself.â
Cherise was dumbfounded.
She had previously assured Lucy that no one else in Syatt Hotel, apart from Damien, would dare to slap Syatt.

She now stood corrected.
Because, other than Damien, Syatt could also slap himselfâ¦.
She looked somewhat upset. âWhy did you slap yourself?â
âBecause I shouldnât have pursued you, Mrs. Lenoirâ¦â
Syatt looked up at Cherise with a pitiful expression. âDr. Shaw, no, Mrs. Lenoir. Youâll be Mrs. Lenoir to me from now
on.â
Cherise was dumbfounded.
What an unexpected turn of events!
âYou slapped yourself and passed out?â
âWhy were you so worked up that you slapped yourself and passed out?â
Faced with Cheriseâs barrage of angry questions, Syatt pursed his lips, looking like a child caught red- handed. âWell,
after we entered that room, Mr. Lenoir told me about your past with him, Dr. Shaw,â
âHe also told me how he searched for you in the past five years.â
âI was so overwhelmed with emotion and felt a great deal of respect for Mr. Lenoir.â
âAfter he left, I thought about how I had pursued you when Mr. Lenoir was away and felt very upset with myself, so I
slapped myself twice out of anger. Then, I felt dizzyâ¦â
Cherise was stupefied.
âDidnât I tell you Damien isnât like that?â
As they sat in the office, Lucy poured Cherise a cup of tea before shaking her head lightly. âSyatt has always been
unpredictable. A stray animal is more trustworthy than him.â
Cherise slumped over the desk. âI really misunderstood Damien.â
She closed her eyes. The image of the man standing alone at the hotel entrance, looking so lonely and desolate,
still haunted her.
He hadnât done anything wrong to her patient.
Yet she had berated and accused him of doing so.
She sighed helplessly, covering her face with her hands. âWhat should I do?â
Damien must think Iâm unreasonable, overly aggressive, and irrational.
