Chapter 599
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 599 Indistinguishable From Hers
Once everything was completed, he casually walked towards Isaac, âItâs just the three of us here now.â
Isaac still appeared hesitant.
Cherise pressed her lips together. She understood what Damien meant.
The womanâs expression softened as she gazed up at the man in front of her.
âHereâs the thing, Isaac. Iâm certain I didnât make that call to you, yet you insist you received a call from me and
even have a recording. I would like to hear what the voice in this recording sounds like. Perhaps it can dispel any
doubts I have.â
Observing Cheriseâs sincere eyes, Isaac hesitated for a brief moment. He sighed and turned to retrieve something
from the cubicle.
He took out a hard drive, connected it to the computer, and located the recording.
âIsaac, trust me. When I say itâs fine, it is. You canât always account for every single person. These cases are all
more or less the same. This patientâs symptoms and diagnosis results are nearly identical to the previous ones.
Trust me, there wonât be any issues. Donât worry. Iâll take responsibility if anything goes wrong.â
A voice identical to Cheriseâs played from the recording.
Cherise stared at Damien, bewildered.
Damienâs eyes were fixed on her.
The voiceâ¦
It was indistinguishable from hers.
Cherise started to panic.
If Isaac had used this as evidence back then, she would not have been able to clear her name even if she had given
up her life!
The tone and the way the voice spoke were exactly like hers.
If it werenât for the fact that she had never uttered such words before, she would have even doubted if she actually
said them herself!
Unlike Cherise, Damien remained composed as his brows furrowed.
He glanced at Isaac. âWas this call made from Cheriseâs number?â
Isaac shook his head.
âNo. Dr. Shaw mentioned that her phone was dead that day. This call was from a European number.â
Damien glanced at her. âDo you remember the number?â
âIâm afraid not.â
Isaac sighed, âI was certain the voice belonged to Dr. Shaw and didnât suspect anything else. Thatâs why I didnât
take note of the number.â
After saying that, he looked at Damien. âIs there a problem?â
âYes.â
Damien smiled.
âYou would know better than I do what kind of doctor Cherise is. She deeply cares for her patients. She would never
say such things. Itâs not difficult to imitate someoneâs voice. But to replicate the exact tone and phrasing⦠thatâs a
challenge. They would need someone with a similar voice, practicing for a long time.â
Isaac was taken aback. âAre you suggesting⦠someone is framing Dr. Shaw?â
âThereâs no other plausible explanation.â,
Damienâs frown deepened. He looked up at Cherise. âDo you have any enemies or people who hold grudges against
you in the hospital?â
Cherise was still recovering from the shock of hearing the recording.
Damien repeated his question, and she snapped back to reality.
In truth, her reputation in the hospital had always been positive over the
years.
Although she no longer acted warmly towards everyone as she used to, her exceptional skills and friendly
demeanor earned her the respect and favor of her colleagues.
She pondered for a long time but couldnât recall offending anyone, especially to the extent that they would frame
her with such an elaborate method.
âDr. Shaw is usually quite approachable. Although she is exceptionally skilled, sheâs never
arrogant about it. I doubt thereâs anyone who would want to frame Dr. Shaw.ââ
