“Get me a new dress? Cherise, you’re thinking too highly of yourself! Do you know how expensive this

dress is? Do you think you can even afford it?”

It was as though she had heard a hilarious joke as the others laughed along with her. “A country

bumpkin depending on a scholarship says she wants to pay for my dress?”

“What will you pay with?”

“Oh, right, you might be able to pay for it. Go home and sleep with that blindy a few times. You might

be able to get enough money for it.”
