Rex ditched attacking Voltara despite wanting to do that so badly.
Absorbing the exact same Elemental Order as the one he wanted to upgrade would give him 30% more energy than absorbing another Elemental Order. Killing and taking Voltaraâs would be the best-case scenario.
Voltar is a Lightning Knight, but he couldnât leave Kyran.
Kyran had done well occupying Kragos while he fought the other two, it would be too much for even Rex to deal with three simultaneously. So he wasnât going to leave Kyran here, and not to mention, absorbing Kragosâ Elemental Order should suffice.
In a burst of power, Rex painted the dark sky with a colorful straight line.
He plummeted from the sky at blistering speed, faster than even Kragosâs claws that were heading towards Kyranâbarely a meter away. Kragos looked skyward and was greeted by Rexâs claws, striking from above with an earth-shattering force.
Possessing the strength to destroy a mountain, Rexâs strike struck Kragos hard.
So hard that he crashed back into the earth, exploding the ground. Continue reading on empire
Rex landed on the ground while Kyran fell behind him, still pierced by the arm-length quills.
As the smoke faded, Kragosâs form appeared.
It was hurting from the vicious crash, most of its quills were broken from that fall.
Growling, baring its fangs toward Rex, Kragos took a couple of steps back.
Smeared across Rexâs claws and mouth was the scent of Brassik.
It was pungent and fresh and that alone told Kragos what had happened, Rex killed it!
Rex tilted his head, his expression demonic, "Iâm not going to let you get away..."
Despite not understanding what Rex was saying at all, completely oblivious, the aura around him said enough. In an instant, towering walls of rock erupted from the ground, encasing the fearful hedgehog on all sides like a shell.
Reacting instantly, Rex surged forward and unleashed a powerful blow.
He shattered the walls in a single strike.
But once he was in, he saw nothing inside other than a massive hole in the ground.
A peculiar light flashed in his eyes as Rex scanned the ground, seeing the floating stats tab was going further away. Smirking devilishly, he coated his claws, with kingly energiesâand stabbed them into the ground.
Immediately, a beam of energy was fired, piercing half a mile into the earthâs crust.
Once Rex reckoned that it was enough, he squatted down and pulled the chunk of land hard.
Crash!
Rexâs strength was overwhelming to the pointâthat he was able to lift a huge chunk of land that probably weighed hundreds of tons. Akin to flipping a table, he pushed the land hard in an attempt to flip it.
Naturally, the ground shook as its surface was peeled.
Fixing his eyes on Kragosâ stats tab at the center of the chunk of landâRex leaped and used his Brutal Impulse direct moon ability, blasting Kragos out of the chunk of land, and throwing it out like a ragdoll.
Blood squirted from its backâthe skin underneath its quills broke.
Seeing this, Rex charged ahead, piercing through the chunk of land like a bullet.
As he was about to deal the finishing blow, its broken quills suddenly erected.
Upon seeing the notifications, Rex stopped and slowed down substantially.
His pupils dilated seeing a quill blow past an inch away from his face, it didnât hit him directly but his cheek splashed with blood, from the wind it carried alone. Realizing that this was not something to underestimate, he planted his feet on the ground.
Swoosh!
Rex created several barriers, starting from red force, elements, and also kingly energies.
He managed to put them up right before a barrage of quills were fired at him.
Despite his strength, he was pushed back and this made his brows dipped into a frown.
It became extremely heavy! What is this?!
One by one, his barriers shattered, unable to withstand the relentless barrage of quills.
Rex kept his eyes on the quills and felt that somehow, the energy from each one of them was doubled in powerâit contained double the energy than before. He did not know what Kragos did but he didnât like this progression.
As he was down to his last barrier, the ground around him cracked.
System, how did it get so strong?!
What? What do you mean by that?
So if this keeps going, his Elemental Order would be exhausted?
Roar!!
Once the last notification appeared, Rex roared angrily.
If Kragos exhausted its Elemental Order then he wouldnât be able to upgrade his affinity.
Even though he didnât want that to happen, the barrage of quillsâwas relentless, he couldnât move from his spot, he was stuck. Just then, a wrathful roar echoed from behind, "Stop! This one is mine!!"
Glancing upward, Rex saw Kyran leaping over the barrage of quills.
However, as he did thatâanother storm of quills shot towards him.
Rexâs eyes bulged when he saw this, his strength heightened in a split second as he pointed his other arm to create a barrier in front of Kyran. Since Kragos had gotten stronger, it would kill Kyran instantly if he got struck by the barrage of quills.
Crack!
Separating his energies into two barriers, the barrier in front of him cracked.
Some of the violent shockwaves from the quills began to seep through.
Creating a red force platform above Kyran, Rex pulled him down.
He then reinforced the barrier in front of him again as Kyran crashed to his behind.
"Move! Itâs mine!" Kyran thundered defiantly.
Upon hearing this, Rex turned to look over his shoulder and shot him a fearsome glare.
"Go out and you die! Calm yourself and listen to me!"
"Grr... what is your plan?"
"Iâll make an opening and use my body as a shield, you struck that wound on its back"
Rex pointed at the deep bleeding wound at the center of Kragosâ back, it was caused by his attack, from earlier. Seeing how it bleeds profusely, one more solid attack to that exact spot would give access to its spine and kill it.
Digging his feet deeper into the ground, Rex flexed his muscles in preparation.
"One chance or weâre both fucked!"
"Lead me to the killing strike!"
Now that Kyran was on board, Rex sharpened his senses and also his focus.
Swoosh!
Suddenly, a surge of moonlight energyâflooded into Kyranâs body, making him stronger than ever. It was Rexâs Moonlight Corruption skill, boosting his strength. Since he has an unending energy reserve under the full moon, the skill granted an incredible boost than normal.
Once that was done, Rex strengthened his stance and charged his right fist.
A violent surge of kingly energies pulsed in his arm like a beating heart.
As he did that, his other hand, his left hand also gathered an intense amount of energy.
Rexâs right hand would use the Brutal Impulse while his left would use the Seize of Twilight.
Once he charged as much kingly energy as he could, he extended his left hand forward and cast the Seize of Twilight moon ability. He apologized to Nivellen insideâand unleashed the ability at its full might.
Seize of Twilight could render a limb of a target useless by trapping it in the Banished Realm.
However, at this moment, Rex rendered a portion of Kargosâ back useless instead.
Once he marked the targetâhis banished dark moon kingly energy snaked upwardâover the barrage of quills and reached Kragosâ back. In that instant, it whimpered as the center part of its back felt numb suddenly.
"Now, follow me!" Rex signaled as he pushed forward with all his might.
Under the effect of the Seize of Twilight, the barrage of quills became weaker quite a bit.
It allowed Rex to push ahead at the speed of a light jog.
But even though the barrage has become weaker, so does his last barrier, it was beaten up from the initial attack and halfway through the wayâit shattered. Rex did not flinch and did the Brutal Impulse ability, firing a powerful stream of kingly energy.
Grabbing Kyran by the nape, he blasted ahead, inches behind the firing stream.
Doing the Brutal Impulse ability bought another quarter of the way and once Rex reached the perfect point, he stood his ground and used his body as a shield from the barrage. Countless scratches marred his entire body instantly.
Even with the Demon Moonâs help, he wouldnât be able to hold on for long.
But a few seconds is all it takes for himâas Kyran leaped over the barrage.
Unlike before, he was closer now and could reach Kragos in an instant.
Kyran charged everything that he had, pulling every ounce of moonlight energy, onto his arm and making the strongest attack that he had ever done. His claws hummedâand shook hard with an astonishing amount of power.
His growth in energy control mastery allowed him to do this.
And as he reached Kragos, a smirk curled on his lips before he struck the vital point.
Kaboom!!
A powerful explosion happened, uprooting the trees around and peeling the ground.
Rex was tossed hard, screeching and bouncing off of the ground before coming to a halt.
He held on as the violent shockwaves blew past him and once it was over, he raised his gaze and found a cloud of smoke covering the center of the explosion. Standing up, he coughed a couple of times, groaning in pain.
But the pain was overwhelmed by the worry about Kragosâ Elemental Order.
Rex paid the notifications no heed, he was fixed on the moment fully.
Dragging himself towards the smoke as the wound was too severe, worse than even his own amplified regeneration tonight, Rex channeled wind mana into his handâand made a waving motion, blowing the cloud of smoke.
Once his vision cleared, Rexâs eyes widened.
His breath was stuck in his throat.
He could see Kyran was digging into Kragosâ carcass, eating the flesh as he dug deep before he found the glowing sphere, another Earth Elemental Order. Seeing thisâhe was infatuated, by the radiating energy coming from it.
Feeling an abnormal pull, Kyran opened his mouth, intending to devour the sphere.
Just before he could do that, however, a shadow appeared behind him.
Kyran glanced over to that shadow before his world suddenly spun.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
He couldnât comprehend what had happened but once he recovered, he was facing the sky.
Seeing that Kyran was about to devour the Earth Elemental Order, Rex immediately stopped him. He grabbed Kyranâs head and threw him to the side hard. It was hisâRex wanted to be the one who devoured it.
Recovering from the throw, Kyran sat up and bared his fangs at Rex.
However, Rex placed one foot ahead and roared at the top of his lungs.
His roar created a breezing soundwave as his Alpha presence spread like wildfire.
Spooked, Kyran lowered his head and crawled to the side.
Going at it with Rex was a rare thing for him.
Normally, he would be the top dog and would suppress the others easily and because of that he forgot that he was now with Rex. Fearing that Rex would beat him up again, Kyran showed that he had surrendered the sphere by showcasing a submissive gesture.
As the Demon Moon was above, they were more animal than man.
Puffing his chest, Rex turned to the sphere again and grabbed it with his claws.
Of course, he wouldnât waste any time and extract this Earth Elemental Order instantly.
His lightning element would surely be upgraded once again by absorbing this.
But as he was about to do thatâa sharp pain suddenly stabbed his spirit core.
His entire body stiffened, and bulged as he reached for his chest, the throb in his spirit core came out of nowhere. If it happened when he extracted the sphere then he might think that it was too soon for him to absorb this when his affinity had been upgraded earlier.
Yet he hadnât tried to extract the sphere so that definitely wasnât the case.
Just then, a notification appeared, notifying him of what was happening.
