âDeer Inn? Room 1131? Are you sure itâs this room?â
âPositive, my man delivered the person there.â
Upon hearing this, Greg Jensen suddenly laughed and said, âYou keep an eye on it for now. Donât get involved unless I call you.â
âGot it, I understand.â
After hanging up, Greg Jensenâs brow furrowed slightly as he muttered to himself, âI have nothing to do with Angela Stuart; why is Cindy Harrison after her?â
Just as he was thinking, the phone rang again. It was Angela Stuart calling.
Greg Jensen was startled but picked up the phone, curious as to what game Cindy Harrison was playing.
âMr. Jensen, where are you?â
Angela Stuartâs voice trembled a bit but quickly returned to normal. However, her tone was different than usualâcoy and somewhat seductive.
Greg Jensen responded indifferently, âAt home, whatâs up?â
Angela Stuart hesitated and said, âMr. Jensen, I⦠Iâm scared. Could you come and keep me company?â
âSure.â
âAh, really?â
âOf course, itâs true. Where are you?â
Hearing other voices in the background, Greg Jensen silently laughed to himself. His senses were far sharper than the average person.
A sound that might seem quiet to others was crystal clear to Greg Jensenâs ears.
After a moment of silence on the other end, Angela Stuart finally said, âDeer Inn, room 1131.â
âAlright, wait for me.â
After hanging up, Greg Jensen couldnât help but burst into laughter and picked up his phone to call Theo Carter.
âHave you removed the equipment from room 1131?â
âAh, not⦠not yet.â
Theo Carter, who thought his peculiar hobby had been discovered, immediately became nervous and hurriedly said, âMr. Jensen, Iâll go take down the equipment right away.â
âDonât remove it; I need it tonight. Go over and get ready.â
âOkay, I understand.â
Theo Carter breathed a sigh of relief and quickly drove to the Deer Inn.
Meanwhile, Greg Jensen changed into casual clothes and asked Trey Holmes to drive him to the Deer Inn.
He had already guessed what Cindy Harrison was planning, but he found it hard to believe that the gentle and frail girl could do such a thing.
Trey Holmes didnât ask any questions, but her curious gaze said it all.
âItâs not a date. Donât think dirty.â
âOkay, boss.â
As Greg Jensen observed her composed demeanor, he couldnât help but add, âTake the car back yourself later; I donât think Iâll be coming back.â
Pfft!
Trey Holmes, who seldom laughed, suddenly let out a laugh before her face turned red and she said, âSorry, boss, I wasnât laughing at you.â
A disgruntled Greg Jensen said wordlessly, âItâs not what youâre thinking. Forget it, I canât explain it to you.â
The two quickly arrived at the hotel entrance and waited a moment before another car pulled up.
Then the rear car door suddenly opened, and Theo Carter jumped in.
âThis is my assistant Trey Holmes.â
After introducing her, Greg Jensen pointed towards Theo Carter and said, âHeâs Theo Carter. If I end up in the Inspection Bureau, you two go find Brandon Brent together and figure it out.â
âThe Inspection Bureau?â
Trey Holmes was taken aback and said blankly, âWhen you said you wouldnât be coming back, you meant the Inspection Bureau?â
âYeah, thatâs a possibility. No, itâs a certainty.â
Greg Jensenâs lips curled into a cold smirk and said, âThey wonât rest until theyâve put me in there tonight.â
Hearing this, Theo Carterâs expression darkened, and he said coldly, âMr. Jensen, whoâs trying to take you down?â
Greg Jensen glanced at him, laughter hinted at the edge of his smile as he said, âWhat? Are you offering to take care of them for me?â
Theo Carter patted his chest and said, âThatâs right, anyone who dares to harm Mr. Jensen is as good as taking on me, Theo Carter!â
âAlright then, tonight Cindy Harrison is the one setting me up, and there might be Ethan Lockeâs tricks involved too. Go now and take care of the pair of them.â
âEthan⦠Ethan Locke?â
Watching Theo Carterâs stupefied face, Greg couldnât help but tease, âWhatâs the matter? Scared?â
âHeh hehâ¦â
Theo Carter was too embarrassed to admit it but didnât have the guts to deny it, so he could only muster a foolish chuckle.
âOkay, enough with the jokes for now. Iâll head in first. Remember to keep the recording safe, Theo. Whether I make it out alive depends on you now.â
âRest assured, Mr. Jensen, I will keep the recording safe.â
âMhm.â
Greg felt relatively confident in Theo because he knew if he didnât make it out, Theo would be in trouble too.
He glanced at his watch, figured it was about time, and got out of the car to enter the Deer Inn.
Inside room 1131, Angela Stuart sat on the bed, her expression tense, while Cindy Harrison and Judy Lampe stood in front of her.
Cindy Harrison said coldly, âIf you do well, youâll get five hundred thousand. If not, let your parents prepare to claim your body.â
âIâ¦â
Terrified, Angelaâs face turned pale, and she trembled without saying a word.
Judy Lampe spoke softly, âLittle sister, donât be afraid. As long as you do as youâre told, not only will you be safe, but youâll also get a hefty sum of money. Why wouldnât you do it?â
Angelaâs voice trembled as she said, âI⦠Iâll obey, Iâll do anything you ask. Just please donât hurt me.â
Just then, one of Ethan Lockeâs men walked in and said, âMiss Harrison, Greg Jensen is coming up.â
âMhm, okay, letâs head to the room across the hall, then.â
âLetâs go.â
Before leaving, Cindy Harrison gave Angela a deep, probing look. Although she said nothing, the sinister glint in her eyes sent chills down Angelaâs spine.
â¦
Cindy Harrison and Judy Lampe, along with the others, left room 1131 and went to the opposite room. They cracked the door open just enough to carefully observe the hallway.
After a moment, the elevator door opened, and Greg Jensen stepped out.
It was his first time in such a high-end hotel. He scanned the quiet hallway and, following the room directory signs nearby, reached the door of room 1131.
Knock, knock, knock!
The door opened, and when Angela saw that the visitor was Greg Jensen, she threw herself onto him, crying, âBig brother Greg, youâve finally come.â
She was wearing a black lace slip nightgown, so thin that it seemed she was afraid Greg would run away; she clung to him tightly.
Greg internally sneered but kept a composed face, smiling, âArenât you going to invite me in?â
Angela glanced at the room across and said with sudden realization, âOh, yes, come in, please.â
Greg followed her in, closing the door behind him. As he did, he caught a glimpse of the opposite door with a barely-there smile playing on his lips.
âWhat happened?â
âNothing⦠nothing happened, I⦠I had a nightmare and got scared, so I called you.â
Angela kept her head low, her voice barely above a whisper.
Gregâs smile slowly faded as he said seriously, âAngela, tell me whatâs really going on. You can tell me.
Whatever it is, Iâll help you sort it out.â
âReally?â
Angela lifted her head, her face streaked with tears.
Greg nodded earnestly, âYes, really. Just tell me, and I can solve anything for you. No one in this world can hurt you.â
Under Gregâs gaze, Angela hesitated, but the vicious look in Cindy Harrisonâs eyes made her shiver involuntarily.
Then, as if possessed, she ripped her nightgown to shreds, exposing her fair skin underneath.
