Jungkook wakes up to the sound of soft rain tapping against the windows.
He blinks, adjusting to the dim morning light.
And then he realizes
Heâs not in his own bed.
He turns his head slightly.
Taehyung is still asleep beside him.
His breathing is slow, steady. His face relaxed.
Jungkook stares.
Theyâve shared a bed before.
Countless times over the years.
But this time feels different.
Because of last night.
Because of what Taehyung said.
I want to try understanding what I feel for you.
Jungkook exhales, rolling onto his back.
His heart is still unsteady in his chest.
Because this whatever this is...
Itâs new.
And he doesnât know what to do with it.
.
.
.
.
Taehyung stirs his coffee as Jungkook leans against the counter, watching him.
Neither of them has spoken much since waking up.
But it isnât uncomfortable.
Itâs just⦠different.
Jungkook finally breaks the silence. âSo⦠what now?â
Taehyung sets his spoon down. âNow?â
Jungkook shrugs. âYou said you want to figure this out. How?â
Taehyung is quiet for a moment.
Then, simply, âI donât know.â
Jungkook huffs a laugh, shaking his head. âOf course you donât.â
Taehyung glances at him. âBut I want to try.â
Jungkook meets his gaze.
And even though Taehyungâs expression is unreadable
Thereâs something there.
Something uncertain but sincere.
Jungkook exhales, rubbing the back of his neck. âFine. Then letâs try.â
Taehyung nods once. âOkay.â
Jungkook narrows his eyes. âBut you canât just observe me like some science experiment.â
Taehyung tilts his head. âThen what do I do?â
Jungkook grins. âYou date me.â
Taehyung stills.
Jungkook watches as the words sink in.
Then, slowly, Taehyung says, âDate you.â
Jungkook nods. âYeah. We go out. Spend time together. Like couples do.â
Taehyung considers this. âIsnât that what we already do?â
Jungkook sighs. âHyung, we are not dating.â
Taehyung frowns slightly. âBut we eat together. Talk every day. Sometimes.... no most of the time you stay over. â
Jungkook groans. âThatâs.... Thatâs just us being us.â
Taehyung crosses his arms. âSo whatâs the difference?â
Jungkook leans in. âThe difference is that this time, youâre actually trying to like me.â
Taehyung blinks. âI donât dislike you.â
Jungkook laughs. âNot the same thing, hyung.â
Taehyung exhales, looking thoughtful. âSo dating.â
Jungkook nods. âYes. A real date. No business dinners. No last-minute ramen runs. A proper, planned date.â
Taehyung watches him for a moment.
Then, slowly, he says, âOkay.â
Jungkook stills.
ââ¦Okay?â
Taehyung nods. âIâll plan something.â
Jungkook raises a brow. âYou? Youâll plan a date?â
Taehyung exhales. âYou wanted this, didnât you?â
Jungkook smirks. âYeah, but I thought Iâd have to do all the work.â
Taehyung sips his coffee. âGive me a week.â
Jungkook grins. âAlright, CEO Kim. Surprise me.â
Taehyung doesnât respond.
But something about the way he looks at Jungkook....
Like heâs actually taking this seriously....
Makes Jungkookâs heart do something strange.
Something hopeful.
And for the first time
He lets himself believe that maybe, just maybe,
This might actually work.
