*Avery's POV*
I don't know what I'm doing with my life anymore. Ignoring my mother's rules, breaking curfew, sneaking out my house around midnight, sneaking around with the guy next door...
I've gone from the good girl my mother raised by herself to one of the girls I secretly admired.
Being with Josh was like being in a different world. A world where everything I did and say, actually did matter.
Our sneaking around went on and at last, the day of the State Fair finally arrived.
At breakfast, I decided to go to easy, good girl way.
"Mom, I was wondering if I could go to the State Fair today, after school?" I asked.
"You know that the month punishment isn't over, right?" She said without looking up from her newspaper.
"I know, but I was hoping you could make an exception. Just this once? I can make up for it any other day." I plead.
"Alright. Here's what I'll do. I'll let you go, but, you will have to make up the day. Any day that I chose and I don't want to hear any complaining. If I hear any, I'll add another day. Deal?" My mother replys.
I think it over... NOT! I was just happy that I was able to go. "Deal. Thanks mom!" I say.

When I get to the school parking lot, I instantly see Josh, Ryder and Marco holding... Starbucks?
I race over to them and say "It's finally set! I'm able to go out today!" I squeal.
"That's awesome! Senior Year, here we come!" Ryder pumps his fist in the air and we laugh.
"Guys!" We hear and we see Emma running over to us.
"Emma!" I squeal and the boys cover their ears.
"Save it for the fair!" Ryder exclaims.
"I know! I know! Sorry!" I say and run over to hug Emma.
"I feel like I haven't talked to you for a long time!" She says as she hugs me.
"I know! I know! I've been a little pre-occupied." I say slightly lying.
It's true! Sneaking around with Josh, they're pre-planned things.
"Can we have the Starbucks now?" Emma asks.
"Sure!" Marco says as he hands us the drinks.
Josh hands me a Mocha Cookie Crumple Fappe, with two pumps of chocolate and extra whipped cream, my favorite.
"You know my order?" I quietly ask him.
"Obviously." He smiles and I grin.
"Have yall talked to Kendell?" Ryder asks.
"Not really, Lemme text her." Emma says as Emily comes over to us.
"Hey guys! Hey bae!" She says to us and then to Marco as she kisses him on the cheek.
"Hey babe" He says.
Blahh, couples.
"COCK-BLOCK!!" Britney says as she comes running over to us and driving straight in between Emily and Marco.
"Brit! Just let them be!" Alexia says.
Alexia was the pretiest out of all of us. Out of the entire school, to be exact.
And I could tell Josh was probably thinking the exact same thing.
I sighed and started talking Ryder about the details. I was ready to leave already. "So who else is coming?" I asked Ryder.
"Besides us, I invited Dylan, Alexander, Lucas and Max." Ryder says, naming off some of the guys on our school soccer team.
And not just some guys, some of the cutest guys in school. They were sexy as, well, the David Beckham sons.
"Can we go now?" I asked Ryder.
"Yes, State Fair, here we come!" Ryder said and we all cheered and got into the three biggest cars.
And somehow, I ended up with Dylan, Alexander, Lucas and Max. Ayee, turn up. I could see Josh wasn't happy with that, and all I could think was, 'Josh, is that a new scent you're wearing? Is it called 'Jelousy' by You?'
I smiled to myself but Dylan thought I was smiling because I ended up with them. Which I kinda was, but still.
"How you been Avery?" Max asked me as he opened the door for me.
"Awesome, since yall are letting me ride shot-gun, right?" I said, smirking.
"Well, since you're the only girl, why not?" Lucas said.
"Cool beans." I replied and they laughed.

"Finally! We're here!" I say as I look out the window and the State Fair slowly starts to appear.
"I know right. Being stuck in a car for an hour and a half with yall sucks!" Alexander says and I stick my tounge out at him. He chuckles and I grin.
In the front car, Ryder sticks his head out and motion for us to follow them.
Once we pay so we can park in front of a nice old couples house, I strech out my body. While I'm streching, someone wrapps their arms around me. I turn around and come face-to-face with... Josh?
"Josh, get off me." I hiss and he chuckles but pulls away.
"What's wrong? Last night you were practically begging me to lick-" Josh starts but I cover his mouth with my hand.
"Josh, shut up." I say as I pull him away from the group.
"Did I do something wrong?" He says, and it would've seen sincere if it wasn't Josh who said it.
"You know exactly what you did." I practically shout.
"Woah, Av, seriuosly, what'd I do?" Josh says, obviously confused.
Boys, always clueless.
I walked away and headed towards the group.
"Alright, listen up! Any couples that wanna split and go their seperate way, " Ryder says and looks and Marco and Emily when he says that "Should do that now. We single pringles don't want to feel even more lonely than we are." He finishes and I giggle.
While Josh kept trying to make eye contact with me, I looked away and somehow managed to look at Alexander.
He turned around and looked at me and he smiled. Something bubbly and weird fluttered in my stomach.
"We're going with yall! That's the entire point of going in a group!" Emily exclaimed.
"Damn, okay! Calm down!" Ryder said and he put his hands up in surrender.
We laughed and walked it through gate 7, and after getting checked by the police to make sure we didn't have anything violent, we started running towards the games and food.
I sniff the air and say "Ahhhhh, food."
Everyone looks at me and I laugh, "What? I love food."
"We know. But first, rides." Alexia said and she got a gleam in her eye. Uh-oh. She gets that look when she's about to do something bad, or crazy.
She takes off and leaves us to follow behind.
When we finally find her, she's standing in front of... Khaos.
"Ohhhh helllllll nawwwhhhh!" I say and she smirks.
"Why not?" Alexia asks me sweetly.
Okay, so, quick story, once upon a time, me and Alexia were best friends. It was before Emma, so I was like, I don't know, 5, and we went to the State Fair.
Alexia was always seeking for adventure, even at 5 years old. So we got on this ride and the entire time, I was crying. So after we got off, she kept calling me a cry baby. And ever since then, we haven't been that close, and I haven't gotten on huge rides.
Until now, she's fucking putting me on the spot.
"I don't know. I just don't want to." I snap and she glares at me.
The air starts getting thicker and everyone's just looking back and forth at us.
"Um, I'm kinda hungry. Anyone want some food?" Alexander says.
"Me!" I say. I mentally thank Alex for the save.
"Alright. Well, I wanna get on the ride." Josh says and I feel something spark in me.
"But first," I say "I wanna get on the ride."
"Are you sure?" Alexia asks me.
This bitch still has the nerve..., I guess that's what made me agree.
"Absoultly." I say and her eyes flare with anger. I smirk and quickly give the man my tickets before my brain has time to change it's mind.
Everyone quickly follows my actions and I end up sitting next to Dylan and infront of me are Alexia and Josh.
My heart starts to race and my palms start getting sweaty as the ride starts. I guess now my mind has finally caught up to me.
"Don't worry. If you get scared, I'll hold your hand." Dylan says to me and I relax a bit. I smile and say "That'd be amazing."
He chuckles and we're off.

Once the ride is finally over, I feel grateful that I'm finally on the ground again.
"Oh, god. I feel like throwing up!" I exclaim as I sit down.
Everyone laughs and then Dylan pulls me up. "Don't sit down just yet. We still gotta get on more rides."
"Fuck, fine." I say and Dylan pulls me up and puts his arm around me.
I blush and Emma giggles. I shot her death glare but she ends up laughing even harder.
Up ahead, Ryder keeps trying to make Kendall, who actually showed up, laugh.
I see the way he looks at her and I sigh. "You okay?" Dylan asks me. "Huh? Oh, yeah. I'm fine. I'm just having a good time." I lie.
*flashback*
While Josh was kisses me neck, I was trying to catch my breathe.
"Josh?" I say quietly.
"Yeah?" He asks me while he sucks on my skin.
"Don't do that! My mom might notice it!" I giggle and he pecks me on the lips.
We lie side-by-side and I sigh. "Josh, how come we haven't told people?"
"Told people what?" Josh asked.
Urgh. Boys. So clueless!
"About us..." I say quietly.
"Avery, there is no 'us'. No strings attached, okay?" Josh says sternly.
I nod quickly and say "You're right. Sorry, just open-mind thinking."
Josh grins and kisses me again "I've always wanted to know what goes on in this brain of yours."
I force a laugh and he kisses my neck, but I wasn't that into it after that and I quickly went home.
*flasback over*
I'm happy for all my friends, but I want something real.
I don't want to be just a hook up, I want someone to be kind to me, even without completly knowing me like Peeta with Katniss. I want someone to trust me like Tobias trusted Tris. I want someone to call me names but do it with love like Percy and Annabeth. I want someone who'll protect me like Jace does with Clary. I want someone to be as sacrastic with me as Will is to Tessa. I want someone to atleast text me back, or offer to write me a book, like Augutas offered to do for Hazel. I want someone to save my life, even if they die like Teresa did for Thomas.
I just want to be loved.
"Avery... Avery?" Emma says, flapping her hand infront of my face.
I blush and say "Sorry. What's up?"
"We're getting food... So unless you wanna stand there, hurry up!" She exclaims.
I sprint to where my friends are, "Food was calling me."
They laugh and we pig out for about an hour and walk around for the longest.

Around 10, the announcments say that the fireworks are about to start.
We all go sit down on the grass and just talk for a while and then they start.
"Look! They're starting!" I exclaim like a 5 year old child.
"Ohmigod. Calm down!" Dylan jokes.
"I can't! I physically can't! And I don't think I can mentally either!" I exlaims and he laughs.
"I'll be right back." He says and I nod.
After a couple minutes, the fireworks go on for a little while and I take out my phone and then Brittney exclaims "Avery......"
"What?" I ask, not looking up from my phone.
"Look up. Like, now." She says.
"What's so.... Oh. My. God." I say.
Spelled out in the sky, were 7 simple words.
"Avery, will you go out with me?"
I feel myself burning up. Who would do this?! That's so fucking sweet!
"So, how 'bout it, Avery? Will you go out on a date with me?" Someone says. I turn around and see Dylan holding a little stuffed animal.
"Yes!" I say and I run towards him and hug him.
"Awwwww!" All the girls say and they start squealing.
Marco and Ryder share a look, uh oh. I'm like a little sister to them, so they'll probably have a talk with Dylan, so that'll be scary. Alex, Lucas and Max all share a knowing smile and Josh just looks, pissed.
Which technically, he shouldn't be.
"I'll be right back. I want some ice-cream." I tell Dylan and he say "No, I'll go get it." And with that, he takes off.
Ahhhhh, Dylan is so adorable and such a gentlemen.
Josh comes over to me and says "How could you say yes to him?"
I just stare at him coldly and say "No strings attached, remember?"
I don't even wait for him to answer. I just stalk off to the girls and we all start squealing. Alexia walks away and goes over to Josh and, this bitch, just hugs him. "No strings attached." The annoying part of my brain says.
