170 Keeping Victor Safe
One would think that after such a traumatic sexual experience, Marcel would become celibate. But no, his little brother was overpowered and all he developed was a revulsion to ties.
After that experience, he covered up the dead body as usual and went on a hunt on the gang that put the bounty on his head.
The biggest mistake they made was to keep him alive and now, nothing held him back as he slaughtered every one of them till the price on him vanished as if it never existed.
Thanks to that experience, Marcel made a name for himself in their world and no one dared to put a bounty on him ever since then. His fatherâs training might have been vicious, but they sure came in handy in the end.
âThatâs good,â Marcel finally turned away from the window, erasing the thoughts from his head. It wasnât time to dwindle in the past but focus on the mission at hand. He couldnât mess it up.
His family member would lay low for a while thanks to his âpresentsâ but while scheming this time, they would be more cautious and brutal. He couldnât give them a reason to win over him.
While Marcel was about to give instructions, his cousin bust into his office in his furious glory, saying, âAnd why exactly wouldnât I be joining this mission?â Victor was pissed as he expected.
âAre you questioning my orders?â Marcel barely spared a look at him.
âExactly,â Victor didnât care, âWhy?â
.....
âYouâve forgotten that I answer to no one, my orders are final. You are not coming with me,â Marcelâs tone was firm and conclusively, not that Victor ever listened.
Victor took a step closer, âListen, if you are doing this is to keep me safe, then you of all people should know how capable I am. Iâm not better than you but Iâm more skilled than Samuel here,â He pointed at the temporary assistant still at the corner and who kept a neutral expression.
But the truth? He wanted a dual between the both of them to ascertain who was better. Sadly, this wasnât the time for it.
Yes, he was doing this to protect him, not that Marcel would acknowledge that because it would only give Victor the leverage to try to change his mind. As much as he had everything in control, everything could still go wrong starting from the Red Giant gang.
They gave him an invitation to the wedding not because he was invited, but because he âdemandedâ one.
Big Joe doesnât want him there â that was as clear as the day â considering his ârelationshipâ with Arianna before he released her to them. It wouldnât be surprising if the man found his attendance suspicious and put some âmeasuresâ in place. Marcel fights better when he has no one to worry about.
Not to talk of Elijah.
He would be a fool to think that Elijah has no idea of the plans he has in store for him. Elijah was a smart man and could tell that this wedding ceremony is nothing but a trap mapped out exclusively for him. Big Joe and the others were only pawns setting the plan in motion and only a man mad would walk into it unprepared.
Elijah was no mad man.
So no, Victor was not coming along with him. There were only two people that mattered to Marcel in this life and that was Victor and his sister, Chloe. Elijah was too smart, what if he changes course and decides to use Victor to get what he wants? Marcel wasnât sure he would be able to take it if his cousin ended up as a casualty loss in this war.
It surely canât happen.
He promised Carmine, his aunt and Victorâs mother that he would protect her son notwithstanding how reckless and eccentric he could be sometimes. Moreover, everything that happened to Victor in the past was because of him and he would spend the rest of his life atoning for that.
âWhy should I be concerned about you? Are you a kid?â Marcel rolled his eyes, pretending not to care.
âWho knows? Youâve shown your motherly affection uncountable times,â Victorâs comment earned a glare from Marcel.
Marcel simply rubbed his forehead, then went ahead to say, âYou are staying back here with reasons. While Iâm out here, I need someone to take care of things in here and youâre the only one I can trust to do that,â
It pretty much sounded like an excuse to Victor but he didnât say anything. When you pushed Marcel to the end sometimes, he could come up with extreme measures â all done Daniel-style â and he didnât want to experience that.
âFine,â Victor sighed, âIâll play home alone as usual while you have all the fun out there. Fucking consigliere I am,â He cursed in disappointment.
And he would have cursed more had a knock not come on the door and Victor went to open it only to see an unexpected face and the irritation on his face gave way to dark pleasure. At least, he wonât be the only one suffering today.
âHi,â Clara waved at him enthusiastically.
Victor didnât turn around to see the color drained off Marcelâs face upon hearing that voice.
âHi, my lovely lady,â He took her hand and welcomed her in, âYour shining knight is over there,â he directed her at Marcel who was already glaring daggers at him.
Even when Clara was in front of him, Marcel didnât bother to put on a happy expression for the sake of courtesy.
âWhat are you doing here?â Was his welcoming statement.
âYou know I did hate your grumpy look in the past but now, I find it quite interesting. Youâre sexy when you frown,â She flirted with him.
A reaction didnât even come from Marcel but rather from Victor who nearly choked on his saliva. When did their relationship turn sickly sweet? He liked it better when they fought.
