641 Marcel Was All She Knows
âWhere are you right now?!â Marcel growled into the phone after Winters finally picked up. If it wasnât for the fact that people were all around, his voice would have gone a tad bit higher. But then, he couldnât draw attention to himself â his character, Nahid has done enough of that already.
âCome to the playground now,â Winters instructed him.
âThe playground?â Marcel thought about it. Good thing he had the map of the house in his head else that would been extra time wasted in searching for the playground.
At that moment a toast was being made to Isabellaâs children hence not many people saw him slip out of there. Marcel strode with determination to the playground, he had waited a long time for this moment and was not going to let anything come between him and his sister tonight. He was taking Chloe home and no one was going to stop him.
By the time Marcel got to the playground, he saw Winters and Chloe in some sort of heated argument and he knew instinctively that Winters had let the cat out of the bag.
âI told you not to tell her anything until I arrive,â Marcel reminded her as he approached them.
There was that stubborn tick in Chloeâs jaw when she turned, upon noticing his presence and Marcel just halted in his step, staring at his sister as he was overcome with emotion. Chloe had grown taller over the months that she hadnât been with him. She looked different even though she felt the same â Puberty did her good.
âI had no choice, she wanted to leave with her boy...â Winters quickly rephrased her statement when she realized what she revealed, âYour sister wanted to leave with Reinaâs son, so I did my best to keep her here and that meant telling her that her brotherâs coming for her.â
Chloe looked at Winters with a dumbfounded expression. She said to her, âI should have known something was strange about you when you wouldnât stop stealing glances at me .â

She continued, âI donât know what it is the both of you are up to, but I can recognize my brother even with my eyes closed and if you were sent by uncle Daniel to bring me back to that hell hole, then I assure you that youâre in for a loss. Because the moment Reina realizes that Iâm missing, youâre all in trouble. Iâm protected here and you can not do anything to me, you fake nanny! â She accused her Winters.
âOuch,â Winters feigned hurt, her hand pressed on her chest dramatically, âUpon all of my sacrifices,â She was having fun.
âWinters,â Marcel warned her and she backed off, reluctantly. He then faced his sister, âChloe?â Marcel tried to reach for her, but she took a step back.
She scoffed, âIs Daniel suffering from schizophrenia that he thinks that I donât recognize my brother anymore? I warn you, if you donât let me go this instant, Iâll scream and let everyone know what youâre up to.â Chloe didnât trust them.
The both of you should have tried harder, I know what my brother looks like and youâre not him. Nor did you sound like him either.â She pointed out the flaw in their plan.
âOh,â That was when Marcel realized that he had been using Nahidâs voice all along. No wonder she had that big look of suspicion on her face, smart girl. Marcel was proud of her safety consciousness.
He instantly turned off the device and said in his normal voice, âItâs me, Chloe,â startling the girl.
Chloeâs eyes were wide with shock and she narrowed her gaze at him. If this was a new trick, she was not falling for it.
âI know it looks strange with the face and all, but Iâm wearing a mask and I canât take it off because thatâs the only way I can get you out of here. But itâs me, Marcel, your brother.â
Chloe looked at Marcel, unsure. His voice was real and she wanted to believe him, but she had been tricked so many times by Daniel that she didnât know what to believe anymore.
âFine,â She said, âIf youâre truly Marcel, tell me one thing only Marcel would only know about me?â She tested him.
Marcelâs mouth opened and closed speechlessly because he had not seen that one coming.
âWell?â Chloe was becoming impatient. If they were bad people, she needed to get out of here.
Marcel took a deep breath and composed himself. Holding her gaze, he went on to say,
âThe Chloe I know has a star-shaped mole on her butt cheeks and she thinks itâs embarrassing while I think itâs adorable. When you were little, because I was your only friend, you thought it was right to stand and pee as a girl because you copied me as a kid and that was the hardest habit to break. Because you loved braiding hair, I had to grow out my hair once just so you could have fun, braiding mine.
âThe hardest decision I ever had to make was leaving you behind when mother died. I was grieving and didnât stop to think that you were hurting the same way and you were just a child. But then, we were all kids and we didnât deserve to go through all of that without a parent by our side. However, Chloe, Iâm most sorry for letting Daniel take you and I promise you that itâs never going to happen again. I swore on our motherâs name, I would take care of you just as I promised mother. â He said.
âBrother!â Chloe didnât hesitate to throw herself into Marcelâs arms. It was confirmed now that he was her brother. Only Marcel would know all of that stuff about her. To be honest, Marcel was not just a brother to her, he was almost a parent to her. Aside from the pictures, Chloe could not even remember what Penelope looked like anymore.
Marcel was all she knows.
