693 Swear On Your Life
âYou are Mimi, right?â Natalie asked, scrutinizing her face intensely, that she would have buckled under pleasure, but then, Mimi has seen much scarier things â like hiding under a truck.
Mimi had not thought about it earlier, being more eager to rescue Arianna. But now, she realized what a huge risk it was while carrying Victorâs child and he was not going to like it. That is if Victor hears about it, Mimi intends to keep it a secret.
âYes, I am,â Mimi responded, gulping down the cold drink Ariannaâs mother, whom she has come to know as Natalie, got her. It was refreshing and relieving to her parched throat considering the âexerciseâ she had undergone to get inside here. Mimi would have requested more, but for courtesyâs sake, she closed her mouth.
âHow long have you known my daughter?â Natalie queried.
Mimi thought about it, pulsing her lips, âFor more than ten years? To me, itâs been like forever because Arianna is a sister to me and we are practically inseparable.â She smiled a little, intertwining their hands and Arianna smiled back at her.
âThatâs quite long,â Natalie muttered, her brows drawn together thoughtfully.
âYeah, longer than you were in my life. I bet you didnât even last a week after I was born?â Arianna sassed upon hearing her comment.
Natalie looked at her daughter, âAt least, Iâm here now. Thatâs what matters.â She said,
âNeither did I ask for you now,â Arianna responded, staring back at her.
.....
âAwkward.â Mimi breathed, readjusting in her seat when the tension between mother and daughter became thick. Why was she always the third party in this kind of scenario?
âArianna...â Natalie rubbed her palms together, as if pleading with her, âLetâs not do this in front of the guest.â
âMimi is not a guest. Although we are not related by blood, sheâs my sister and knows more about me than you would ever know in this life like the mole on my thigh or the scar on my body. So whatever you canât say in front of her, itâs not worth it.â
Natalie was speechless, she simply stared at her daughter hard before shifting her gaze to Mimi and said with a smile that didnât touch her eyes,
âMake yourself comfortable, Mimi, and have a good time before you leave,â She hinted that the girl was not spending the night, whatever her daughterâs plan was.
And with that, Natalie stood up and left them alone, taking the tension with her.
Mimi turned to Arianna, tugging her hair to the back of her ear, âAlright, what was that?â
âAn effective way to make her leave us alone and it sure worked. Come on..â Arianna rose to her feet, tugging her along, âThere are too many eyes watching us here. Letâs go to my room.â
âUm, okay?â Mimi had no clue how things worked around here, but she would choose Ariannaâs words over theirs.
With Arianna leading the way, Mimi followed her along sheepishly since it was her first time here. Unlike Marcelâs place, there was less security here â at least that was visible to her eyes. Who knows, they might be in hiding or something only to come out when danger arises, her imagination was quite active.
As large as the mansion was, it felt warm and homey, perhaps Natalie had a hand in it. A motherâs touch â something that Marcelâs place lacked. Hence, It was weird that instead of Arianna feeling more at home, she wanted to get the hell out.
They reached their destination and Arianna opened the door, âThis is my â Rose?!â
Oh, who is Rose? Mimi lifted her head to see who that was and her gaze rested on a young girl. Now, she could sense more gossip on the way.
âWhat are you doing in my room?! I thought I warned you not to bother me again?â Arianna scolded her.
The young girl lowered her head and said in a small voice, âI thought that since we have been acknowledged as sisters, we would have more bonding time.â
âAww, Arianna has a little sister.â Mimi teased Arianna by mimicking her voice, and as expected, she received a glare in return.
Looking at the innocent girl, Arianna had no choice but to calm down and explain things to her. She bent down so the both of them were at eye level as she said, âI donât know what my mother said to you, but technically, we are not sisters yet, not with your father and Natalie being unmarried. And letâs be pragmatic here, anything could happen and the both of them break up tomorrow. See? No more sisterhood,â
Rose had shown a high level of maturity so far that Arianna forgot that deep down, she was merely a young girl who believed in Cinderella and happily ever after and not an adultâs reality. Because the next thing Arianna knew, Roseâs eyes watered and she burst into tears.
âUmm, Rose?â Arianna didnât know what to do. It wasnât supposed to be this way.
But the more Arianna tried to comfort her, the harder the young girl cried and she had no idea how to stop her.
âCould you help me Mimi and stop snickering at the side like a fox?â Arianna growled at her.
If she doesnât stop Rose very soon, her mother is going to burst in here and assume sheâs the evil step-sister for making the girl cry.
âDo Fox snicker?â Mimi laughed.
âMimi!â
âFine! Sisterhood is the problem, just convince her that youâd play the part of her sister and you should be good to go.â
âBut I am not her sister!â Arianna said and Rose cried harder.
âAnd I am not the one crying?!â Mimi shrugged.
Arianna had no choice and God! Everything was a disaster. She didnât sign up for this, you know!
âFine!â Arianna had no choice but to agree to the girlâs demand, âWe would do the bonding or sisterhood that you want as long as you stop crying.â She begged her.
âReally?â Rose demanded through the tears, âSwear on your life,â
âWhat?â Arianna was dumbfounded, âWhy should I swear on -â
âJust do the dumb thing and let the girl go, Arianna,â Mimi told her.
âFine! I swear on my life! Jesus Christ!â Arianna sighed heavily.
But that was not the end because Arianna watched as Rose rubbed away the tears from her eyes and gave her a smug smirk.
Holy mother of God, did that girl just deceived her?
âYou promised to be my sister! Remember, you swore on your life!â Rose told her as she took off knowing Arianna was about to lose her shit.
âYOU LITTLE IMP! â Arianna shouted as expected and tried to go after her but Mimi held her back.
âDid you just see that?â Arianna asked Mimi, wanting to believe she knew what she had seen. The girl deceived her!
âYeah,â Mimi acknowledged, âYou have quite an entertaining family.â
