Matthew took the menu, scanning through the extensive list of dishes. Based on his personal preferences, he decided on beef skewers and pasta.

Nothing else on the menu interested him much.

“I think these might be things you’d enjoy, so you can give them a try.”

Matthew also showed some interest. “Okay.”

A short distance away, Xavier walked over. From where he was, he could see the man sitting with Aurelia.

Due to the considerable distance and the crowd, it was somewhat difficult to get a clear view.

Nonetheless, he felt as though he had seen that man somewhere before.

It wasn’t an unfamiliar face.

Aurelia found herself unable to interject as the two formally introduced themselves. She had never seen Xavier look at someone with such sharpness in his eyes, as if he wished he could dissect Matthew on the spot to determine whether his heart was good or evil.

Reflecting on how her relationship with Curtis had caused Xavier to become so guarded, she felt incredibly guilty toward her family who cared for her.
