Chapter 188 I Insist On Seeing Aurelia After ending his call, Matthew noticed the sudden change in Aureliaâs expression. âIs something wrong?â
âItâs nothing. I just saw someone being insane on social media.â Aurelia logged out of her account.
vas How else would one label a person whose logic completely shattered oneâs worldview as though it were the most natural thing to do, if not insane?
Aaron and Melanie woke up quite late the next day, only stirring to consciousness well lunchtime.
past Aaron had another wild night with Melanie after he was done berating Aurelia on Twitter.
Had hunger not roused them from their sleep, the two would have continued slumbering, completely forgetting about their hospital visit scheduled for that day.
The man emerged from Melanieâs room, and was about to head downstairs to check for lunch, only to hear an unexpected and nerveâracking voice suddenly echo from behind him.
âAaron?â
Aaron stiffened, slowly turning to look at Spencer.
âWhat are you doing at home?â The former quietly drew in a breath, unsure of how he was going to explain his situation with Melanie to his family just yet.
There had been a lot going on at home recently, and he wanted to wait a bit before discussing the matter.
Unexpectedly, Spencer might have already found out.
The younger man had just woken up, so his eyes were not yet fully open. Instead of responding to his brotherâs query, he voiced his own confusion. âWhy did you go to Melâs room?â
âI just went to check on her,â Aaron responded calmly.
Spencer frowned. âI didnât see you in your room when I got back last night. When did you get back? Did you wake up earlier than me?â
âIâve always been a light sleeper. Why are you asking so many questions this early in the morning? Letâs go have our breakfast.
Mel and I need to go to the hospital later,â Aaron responded, keeping a straight face.
Spencer thought nothing more. âOkay, Iâll go check on Mel too. Things have been so hectic, and sheâs had to visit the hospital every two days. Sheâs had health issues since she was a child, so she might be exhausted by now.â
While speaking, he made his way toward Melanieâs room.
Chapter 188 insist On Seeing Aurelian Finished âWait! Donât go in there yet,â Aaron called out. âMel just mentioned she wanted to take a bath, so nowâs not a good time. Come on downstairs with me.â
Spencer paused for a moment, feeling somewhat perplexed by his brotherâs apparent panic.
Subconsciously, he felt something was amiss.
At the same time, he felt that it wasnât really a big deal, so he nodded.
âLetâs go and see what the housekeeperâs prepared for lunch.â
As the two descended the staircase, Aaron let out a sigh of relief. That was a close call!
Spencer had nearly discovered his affair with Melanie. It looks like weâll have to be more careful at home from now on.
Melanie, who was hiding in the room, overheard the conversation between the two brothers outside.
She pursed her lips, showing her dissatisfaction with Aaron.
He was clearly startled back then. Even if Spencer had found out, would it really matter? Was their relationship something to be so shameful about?
He even told Spencer I was in the shower!
Now I have to hide in here for a few more minutes.
She unlocked her phone and opened her WhatsApp conversation with Phyllis right away. Despite. having sent numerous texts, the latter had yet to reply.
Melanie had asked Phyllis if she could go home for a meal in the next couple of days. The older woman must have seen the messages but chose not to respond.
She deserves to be nothing more than a country bumpkin!
Instead of thinking about how to care for her own daughter, she gives all her love to Aurelia?
Sheâll regret it one day!
Over an hour later, Aaron and Melanie arrived at the hospital.
Standing in front of the ward, Benjamin scowled upon seeing the two of them. âWhat took guys so long?â
you âWe were so worried about Mom that we couldnât sleep well last night,â Aaron answered with a feeble excuse..
Lunaâs condition was already beyond saving, and she was destined to be bedridden for life. She couldnât be left alone and needed constant care. Wishing otherwise was pointless; it was better to accept the situation.
Chapter 188 | Insist On Seeing Aurelia Finished Benjaminâs expression darkened considerably, as if he had seen right through both of them. âIâll be back again, same time tomorrow.â
Then, he stood up, ready to leave.
After taking a couple of steps, he recalled something and turned to them. âSpencer and I have come up with a plan to persuade Aurelia to come back and take care of Mom. I hope you guys can cooperate when the time comes.
Naturally, Aaron agreed. âWhatever you need us to do, just let us know in advance.â
âSure thing, Benjamin,â Melanie added obediently.
âIm off.â
Subsequently, the pair entered the ward. Their gaze fell on Luna, who lay in bed looking pallid and grim.
âHow are you feeling today, Mom?â Melanie asked gently.
âHow dare you ask me how I am?â Luna roared in anger. âIâve lost my legs and am bound to lie in bed until the day I die! This is what youâre all waiting for, isnât it? Well, I wonât grant you that satisfaction! Look at you two, showing up late just so you donât have to take care of me, huh?â
The car accident had opened her eyes to the true nature of her family.
They had absolutely no patience for her; instead, they all kept a distance now.
Then, there was Melanie, who used to call her the best mother in the world and always insisted on being a filial child. Yet, the way she had treated her the past few days reflected otherwise.
Not only that, but her three sons constantly looked upset, as if they were the ones who had been amputated.
The worst of them all was her husband, Gideon, who hadnât visited her these past few days. Even if the company matters were challenging, surely he could spare some time to see her, couldnât he?
Theyâre all full of excuses!
Only now did she realize how wonderful Aurelia was. Over the past few days, she found herself thinking more frequently about previous events. When she was sick, Melanie would offer her words of concern, but it was Aurelia who genuinely sought ways to alleviate her discomfort.
As a result, she felt at that time that Aurelia was only being meddlesome and lacked the charm that Melanie had to win peopleâs hearts.
Melanieâs eyes welled up with tears as she turned to Aaron with a wronged expression. âAaron, I... I didnât mean to upset Mom. I was just worried about her, so I asked how she was doing.â
She used to be such an elegant, wealthy lady. Now, sheâs no different from a shrew.
3:45 PM â«
Chapter 188 i Insist On Seeing Aurelia She shouldâve just died in that accident!
Iâm sure everyone in the family thinks the same way.
Finished Aaron furrowed his brows instantly. âMom, how could you say such things about Mel? Ever since your accident, sheâs been crying almost every day while worrying about your health and thinking. of ways to cheer you up. Is this how you treat her in return? Canât you be a little more. reasonable?â
âYou!â Luna was seething with rage.
So, everything was her fault now?
âI donât want any of you here. Get me Aurelia! I refuse to see anyone but her now!â She had only one demand now, and it was to see Aurelia.
Melanie let out a helpless sigh. âMom, weâve been doing our best to find Aurelia. But... she simply doesnât care about you. She even went off on a vacation the day after your surgery. Itâs pretty clear she has no intention of taking care of you.â
âTell her to come over! Even if she doesnât want to, find a way to get her here!â Luna insisted, disregarding any objections.
For some reason, a voice kept echoing in her mind, telling her that Aurelia had to come.
With a somber expression, Aaron answered helplessly, âWeâll do our best.â
As soon as Aurelia and Matthew arrived Jacaster Airport and got off the plane, someone from the Quigley residence came to pick them up.
They were both escorted directly to the mansion.
Mabel beamed at them. âDid you two have fun?â she asked, her voice laced with happiness.
