Chapter 18
Reggie and Wanda took an early leave today. I am sure they have gone on a date. I would come to know about it tomorrow because Wanda could never keep a secret from me.
As it was time to go back home, Jasper and I were tying up everything.
The photoshoot is just three days away and we have to make sure that everything is up to par..
I was removing all the dresses from the mannequin and keeping them at their places while Jasper was collecting the sheets and stuff.
He has stopped talking to me. When Wanda and Reggie are not with us, we are silent, and our productivity increases on itâs own. It is only me who asks for a few things from him when he is in need. He never asks for anything from me, even if he is
in need.
After folding the dress. I turned around and took a step ahead without knowing that the back of my t-shirt had been hooked to the mannequin.
As I took another step forward, my top split from the middle, widening my eyes in realization.
Jasper turned around at the same time and I gulped nervously. My hands reached out for my back and as I tried to pull away my T-shirt forcefully, it tore even more and the mannequin fell down.
God
My face turned red with embarrassment. I wasnât expecting it.
My arms stayed twisted at the back to hold the T-shirt in itâs place. Jasper looked away, sensing my nervousness.
My eyes moved around, looking for something with which I could hide myself. I definitely cannot go out in this situation.
Jasper slowly walked to me, which alerted my senses. As he came to me, he swiftly removed his coat and wrapped it around my shoulder, taking me by surprise.
With wide eyes and a surprised look, my chin lifted up to look at him. He stared down at me with softness in his eyes for the first time in a while.
He was waiting for me to hold his coat, so I did and wore it properly.
âThanks,â I mumbled.
âItâs fine. You may not have realized it but I still care for you. You may not understand my feeling but I am still not over you,â he mumbled under his breath.
I know he wanted to say this to me for a long time but he was controlling himself.
âI understand your feelings completely. As I already told you, I always thought of you as my friend, and I didnât have those feelings for you. But that does not mean I didnât respect them. I just didnât want to force myself.â I told him.
He shook his head slightly.
âIt didnât hurt me that you did not feel that way for me but what bothered me was that you didnât even try. You didnât even give me a single chanceâ
I became silent at his words.
âBut itâs okay, I can understand. How could you choose the one who has nothing else than a normal 9-5 job over the one who has everything at his fingertips?â

My heart clenched.
This is not the case!

Before he expressed his feelings to me, Nathaniel was already in my life. I thought that he was the one; thatâs why I didnât give him the chance. I wanted to be with one till eternity.
*If you had chosen me, you would have had to work your whole life but now you could easily leave your job anytime you wanted because you know that your husband is very powerful and rich. No one could match him.â
I looked down.
âItâs ok, Vanessa. There is no need to feel bad for me or anything. It is your you wanted
life and it was your decision-what and like any other normal girl, you chose money over love.â
I bite my lower lip to stop it from quivering. In any situation, I would have chosen love over money because I know the importance of love in oneâs life. All my life, I was for love. I was happy with a two-time meal if my partner was loving and caring. But I didnât see any point in arguing with him because he is not the first person who must be thinking about me in this way.
The silence between us was broken by the ringing of my phone. I looked down to find that the call was from Luciano. Jasper also noticed that.
He turned around and went back to his work.
âHello.â I picked up the call
âWhere are you?â He asked directly, coming to the point, âI am waiting outside.â
âComingâ
He hung up. He doesnât seem to be in a good mood. He is rarelyen a good mood.
My eyes moved around to see that the work was still pending. It will take at least half an hour to pile up everything. Luciano will get mad if I donât reach him within five minutes.
âGo, I will do it,â Jasper said with his back facing me.
âBut it will take you an hour if you do it alone,â 1 argued.
âItâs fine, I donât have anyone at home waiting for me,â he said and I could feel the pain in his voice. âGo, he does
wailâ
As much as I wanted to stay back and help him, I also knew that Luciano would come here and start shouting if I reach there on time.
âThank you, Jasper,â I mumbled before taking my leave.
Taking the elevator, I walked out of the company. People around me looked at me as if I had grown two horns on my h know they are staring at me because of my attire.
As usual, I found his car a little away and at the corner. I was about to sit inside when he stopped me.
âWhat are you wearing?â He asked me out of surprise.
Nooked downL
âCoatâ
He came out of the car and walked around to face me.

âWhose coat?â He asked in a bit of a high tone.
âJasperâs,â I told him.
His lips were pressed tightly and his eyebrows were raised.
âWhy?â He didnât sound very impressed.
âMy top got torn, soâ¦â
âHe saw you?â His eyes widened and he suddenly became alert.
âSaw me?â I asked in utter confusion, âhe has seen me multiple times.â
âWhat?â His eyes widened even more and his body stiffened.
âYes, of course, we have been working together for the last two years,â I told him, but it was obvious.
His lips were once again pressed tightly together in a thin line.
What have I said wrong?
Of course, he sees me almost daily.
âI am not asking in that way. You just said that your cloth was torn; thatâs why he gave you his coat.
Oh! The realisation hit me like a tidal wave.
âNo, he didnât.â
He released a breath, which fanned my face. It seems like he is now relaxed.
âReturn his coat,â he ordered
âNow?â I asked
He nodded
âI will do it tomorrow,â I said, looking away. âmy top is torn I canât go like this.â
âThan take my coat. You are mine. Everything on y
you should be mine.â
My eyes flicked at him as I heard his words, which were laden with possessiveness.
âI mean to say that you are now my wife. You have to take care of my standards. Just look at the quality of this coat. It s so cheap,â he clarified himself
Î
âFor your kind information, we are now going back to the home and now no one is going to see itâs quality as we will be in the car,â I argued and stated the fact.
He drew a sharp, deep breath, not impressed by my reply,
I think I need to take you there.
Where?
Before I could ask, I found myself being pushed inside the car. He walked around to take hold of the steering wheel and the engine roared to life.
Where is he taking me?
