It was night time, and a drizzle were starting out there.
Kathy had just left the NCHV Medical Company, and there was a black Cayenne parked at the entrance.
A man in white shirt and black pants was holding an umbrella in the middle of the rain. Although the visibility was very low due to lack of lighting, his perfect features were still very much distinguishable.
Kathy stopped in her tracks momentarily. Josephâs leather shoes were drenched in rainwater, signifying that he had been in the rain for some time.
âWhen did you arrive?â Kathy trotted towards him and wrapped her arms around his.
There was a calm and composed expression on Josephâs face as he stroked Kathyâs hair and sliding it to behind her ears. Her mesmerizing side profile came into view.
âI have just arrived and was planning to give you a call.â
âYou can just let the driver pick me up.â Kathy replied softly.
She knew that Joseph was always busy lately, so she had been picked up by the driver for a few times before this. It was a while since he had come to fetch her personally.
âItâs raining now, so Iâm slightly worried about you.â Joseph continued to caress her long hair lovingly before he lowered his gaze and kissed her on her lips.
This man was often times domineering but sometimes he was gentle. He had never failed to captivate her...
âIâm going on a business trip tomorrow.â Kathy leaned against Josephâs shoulder in the car while informing him of this.
âYouâve been going on a lot of business trips lately.â Joseph couldnât help knitting his eyebrows.
âAlexia has resigned, so Iâm taking over her duties for now. Iâll need to go on a lot more business trips in the future.â She replied.
âArenât you going to have your exam soon? You should just resign.â Joseph replied in a low voice.
Kathy frowned as she thought of her chances of participating in the exam. She didnât know whether she was qualified to take part yet. How could she resign just like this?
âI think Iâll wait a little longer.â
At this moment, Joseph produced a file from the drawer next to him and handed it to her. Kathy accepted the file with a surprised look on her face as she saw the words âBoston Universityâ printed on the file. Her hands were slightly shaking now.
Could it be...
She flipped open the file and saw that it was her thesis from back then. But this version here was obviously not written by her.
âHow did you get this?â Kathy asked with an astounded expression.
âMy grandpa is one of the founders of Boston University, and I used to be part of the schoolâs board of directors. It was a piece of cake for me to get your thesis.â Joseph explained calmly.
âSo that was it, no wonder you were able to help me last time.â Kathy leafed through the thesis and came to the realization that this version was probably the one being accepted by the examiner back then. Anyhow, this was not her own work. What had happened to her own work? If it was really swapped with someone elseâs, then who could have done that? She didnât know who was holding such a strong grudge against her.
âDo you believe me if I say that this thesis is not written by me?â Kathy smiled mockingly and said. Joseph frowned as he took the file over to study it.
His frown deepened as he flipped through that thesis.
âIâll find out who is behind this for you.â He said with determination.
âWonât it be difficult to do that?â
âJust leave it to me.â
Josephâs words were always credible in her opinion.
She lowered her gaze as her eyes were gradually filled with an iciness.
âI suspect that Herbert was behind this, but I donât have any proof. She wouldnât admit either.â She speculated.
âAlright, Iâll use this clue to start my investigation.â
âJoseph, thank you very much.â Kathy looked at him silently.
âAlways remember that youâre Josephâs wife, I just need you to trust and rely on me. You donât need to thank me at all.â
âIt seems like you have helped me way too much. I have always created trouble for you all the time.â Kathy replied sheepishly.
She didnât want to be indebted to Joseph all the time, since both of them werenât really husband and wife officially. She didnât know how to repay his kindness for all the help he had given her. She felt awful feeling like this all the time.
âI donât mind you bothering me, otherwise I donât have anything to do anyway.â Joseph squinted his eyes and shot a look at Kathy that was hard to decipher. Despite that, she was willing to lost herself in his tenderness.
...
The next day, Kathy had to board an early flight.
Joseph had woken up earlier than her and he had prepared sandwiches for her in advance. Kathy washed up quickly and by the time she was done with her preparation, Joseph was done packing her luggage.
He wore a white shirt and black pants as usual. Although this suit was what he wore typically, he was always exuding a noble and gentle aura. He looked high and mighty and people would have a hard time imagining him wearing casually at home.
âIâm not sure how long I will be away this time.â Kathy hugged him and rubbed against his chest at the same time. When the thought of her not being able to see Joseph for a while occurred to her, a saddening disappointment swirled in Kathyâs heart.
She had gotten used to him being by her side since some time ago, without her even realizing it. This was especially true since she had moved to the Joseph Bay. The maids didnât frequent this place often, it was Joseph who was taking care of her most of the time...
A smile slowly emerged on Kathyâs lips.
She stood on tiptoe while studying this handsome guy who was just inches from her. Her lips almost collided with his.
Joseph squinted his eyes and furrowed his brows while saying, âIf youâre going to be away for too long, I will go there to get you back.â
Kathy cracked a laugh as she replied, âDo you mean like last time? By the way, were you visiting City B because of me?â She asked this as natural as she could get.
âI went there because I missed you, but in contrast to my intentions, I was always left alone somehow.â Joseph complained.
Kathy was grinning ear to ear when she heard this, as a kind of sweetness slowly permeated through her. It turned out that this was what always happened.
âYou never informed me in advance, and every time I am done with my business there, there is no reason for me to stay behind while everything is counted as companyâs expenses.â Kathy tried to explain.
My Sweetheart ï¤Chapter 190 She Believed in Joseph âthe so called companyâs expense is also mine, mine is yours, right ?â Joseph squeezed her chin and said in a low but sexy voice.
Kathy was slightly blushing now as she looked into Josephâs black jet pupils. She could see her reflection in his eyes, with her face a ripe red color.
She couldnât help falling into his embrace, as Josephâs loving words were becoming more irresistible for her as time went on...
Three hours later, Kathy arrived at City B.
When she exited the airport, she could see a familiar figure standing not far away. When that person saw Kathy, he walked towards her slowly. Kathy frowned slightly as she stopped in her tracks. She was now focusing her cautious gaze at the approaching figure.
She wanted to ignore him, but Billy had entered her field of vision and came to her side.
âMiss Kathy, I have waited for you specifically.â Billy had his hands buried in his pockets, and there was a hint of bitterness in his voice.
âI donât remember having any professional ties with you, Mr. Hilton.â Kathy replied unhappily while furrowing her brows.
Billy smiled in response, âWho knows about that? You canât be sure of everything right now.â
âWhat do you want from me?â Kathy stared at him.
âI just want to have a meal with you, thatâs all. Since there are various businesses under the Qi Group in City B, it is only natural for me to welcome you since youâre here in my area.â Billyâs tone was quite adamant.
âHow did you know that I will be coming here?â Kathy peeked at him suspiciously and suspected that Billy had learnt of her schedule in advance. She didnât disclose her schedule to anybody at all except for the party whom she was going to cooperate with.
âYouâll know about that sooner or later.â Billy bowed as he extended an invitation for Kathy to board his car. Kathy didnât accept his invitation as she was about to hail a taxi by the road.
Billyâs gaze intensified while he focused on her, and there was a coldness that gradually spread in his eyes.
âKathy, my mother has invited you for a meal.â
