At the Hospital.
Joseph had completed his surgery in the morning and went back to his office. Lily was inside his office.
âYouâre not due for a follow-up session yet.â Joseph said in a cold tone.
âIâm not here for follow-up, Iâm here to tell you the truth.â
Without looking at Lily, Joseph received the new medical case written with âNISIXâ from the nurse.
Lily had got used to the way Joseph ignored her, she continued with her words,â Your girlfriend, Kathy, cheated on you. Hurry up and cut ties with that woman.â
Josephâs eyes turned extremely cold, almost breaking the pen on his hand when he heard those words.
âGet out of my sight.â He raised his eyes, and his gaze was sharp.
Lily wasnât irritated and continued, âDr Joseph, you should consider about me, Iâm much prettier than Kathy, and Iâm loyal, I wonât cheat on you.â
Joseph frowned, he picked up the intercom to make a call.
Lily knew too well about what he was going to do and stopped him immediately, âWhyâre you so stubborn? I donât understand whatâs so good about her! She still doesnât know how to behave even sheâs with you!â
âLily Smith!â Joseph stood up, âIâve prescribed your medicine for the next three months. You donât have to come over to the hospital anymore.â
âNo...â
Joseph then instructed the security, âWhoever let Lily Smith enter the hospital again donât have to come back to work anymore.â
Lily stared at her with burning eyes, âJoseph, thatâs too much!â
âGet out. Right now.â Joseph turned his back to her.
Lily gritted her teeth. Sheâs not going to give up on Joseph.
After a while, John came in.
âWhat did you find out?â
âThe news was leaked out by Kingston.â John bowed his head and reported.
âKingston...â Joseph stroked his chin, squinting his dark eyes.
âAny action taken by the Herbertâs Group?â
âPeterâs not yet fired, but the Herbertâs Group had complained about it. Kingston didnât attend the board meeting and the companyâs currently in turmoil.â
âItâs been long time since Kingston made a move, but he hasnât given up on Peter.â Joseph said in deep voice.
âThey may take the next step to release more news, Iâm afraid that itâll affect Madam.â John frowned.
âThereâs no more next step. Theyâve achieved their goal.â
Peter was leaning on the back of the chair in his office. His eyes was as deep as the depth of ocean.
At this moment, the nurse, Jade pushed the door, came in and said, âDr Joseph, Kathyâs admitted to the hospital.â
Upon hearing this, Josephâs dark eyes widened and he rushed over to see Kathy.
Alexia was waiting worriedly outside the consultation room at the gastroenterology department.
Joseph came over and walked into the consultation room directly.
Kathy was doing check-up, writhing in agony due to the extreme stomachache.
âItâs gastroenteritis. To identify the source, weâll have to wait for the lab results.â The doctor in charge said so.
Kathy was lying on her side with her hand pressing against her stomach. A pair of slender hands reached out, holding her freezing small hands.
Kathy raised her eyes, Joseph in his white coat appeared in front of her.
âYouâre here.â Kathyâs face was dripping with sweats, her voice sounded fatigue.
âWhy didnât you give me a call?â Joseph asked, his voice was a little cold.
He was discontented by the fact that he always knew a lot of stuff from others instead of Kathy.
Kathy was stunned, and acted a little awkward.
âIâm fine now.â
âMy heart aches for you.â Joseph said.
Kathy was then transferred to the general ward. Her ears kept echoing with Josephâs words.
Would his heart ache for her?
âKathy, we had the same food for lunch, but whyâre you having diarrhoea?â Alexia said doubtfully.
âI would like to know too...â Kathy frowned, her stomachâs still aching until now.
Joseph went to take her test report while Alexia accompanied her.
Joseph was reading the test results at the examination room. The severe gastroenteritis was caused by unclean food.
He then made a call, âCheck if thereâs anything weird with the canteen of NCHV today.â
Kathy was lying limply on the bed in the ward.
Sheâs exhausted, her limbs were tired, her eyelids were heavy.
âDr Joseph, is Kathy alright? This is the first time Iâve seen her suffering from such severe diarrhoea.â Alexia was worried.
âWhat exactly did she eat for lunch?â Joseph asked.
âWe had pineapple fried rice.â
âAlright, you can go home first. Please take a few days off for her.â Joseph said.
âIâll leave Kathy to you then.â
Kathy fell asleep after taking medicine.
The time when she woke up, the sky had already darkened. Joseph was staying with her all this while.
âJoseph.â She frowned and sat up.
âDoes your stomach still hurt?â Joseph held her up.
Kathy shook her head, âDid I eat something wrong?â
âYes, your food was poisoned. Think about who would set you up.â Josephâs face sank.
This was what he had investigated so far, but the one who was exactly behind the scenes had yet to be found out.
Kathy frowned, she had been keeping a low profile in the company, apart from the scandals exploded recently, no one held grudge against her.
Suddenly someone flashed out in her mind, âThere was indeed a female colleague who always picking on me recently.â
Joseph narrowed his eyes and noted down.
At night, they went back to the old mansion. When they entered the house, Josephâs Grandpa, Mathew, was sitting at the living room.
When did the old man come back?
Kathy was inexplicably scared and grabbed on Josephâs shirt.
âYou guys are home. I heard that my granddaughter-in-law was admitted to the hospital. Is everthing alright?â Although Mathew seemed like concerned about Kathy, but his eyes were extremely cold.
âIâm fine, grandpa.â Kathy smiled stiffly.
âGrandpa, why didnât you call me to pick you up?â Joseph walked in and supported Kathy to sit on the sofa.
Mathew pulled a long face, and his hand on his crutches was trembling faintly.
âIâm afraid that I couldnât hold back at the airport!â He stared at Kathy, âMy granddaughter-in-law, I liked you quite a bit, but whatâre you doing now!â
Kathy bit her lips, as expected, grandpa had read the news.
âGrandpa, my private life is clean.â Kathy explained.
âFortunately, your marital relationship has not yet exposed, otherwise youâll humiliate the Josephâs Family! You all better keep a low profile during this period.â Mathew said coldly.
Kathy frowned and wondered whether grandpa believed in her.
âAs for Kathy, if it was really misunderstood, Iâll help you to clarify.â

âGrandpa, Iâll deal with it. Thereâs no need for you to interfere.â Joseph spoke.
âYou better do it right. Remember, the Josephâs family can never be disgraced!â Mathew instructed repeatedly.
âI wonât be going back to City B lately. I canât have peace of mind until this matter is over!â
âJoseph, Iâm sorry, Iâve caused you trouble.â Kathy apologized.
They were supposed to be beneficial relationships, each takes what they need, but this scandals had affected the Josephâs family, she didnât know how to make up for it.
âGood that you know.â Josephâs expression remained cold, but the way he looked at Kathy was passionate.
Kathyâs heartbeats were uneven. Every time Joseph looked at her with that gaze, she felt like she was a prey he had targeted and she had nowhere to escape.
