Thank you so much for thisð
Thank you @bunny22 for helping me outð
A humdrum weekday was desisting, ready to embrace the weekend as usual. However, the sound of getting holidays started to disturb me. Tomorrow was going be officially the last day of this academic year. The college was going to close for study leaves as the semester-end exams were approaching in less than three weeks.
I was not able to comprehend the reason for my anxiety. It may be because exams were awaiting or perhaps for the reason that I might not be able to see one particular person. And, I guess its the latter.
It was a pleasing Thursday eventide, I continued randomly scrolling through the stories on Instagram as I was jobless. Besides, what more could I even do other than wasting my time on the phone?
Shaym's profile appeared on my newsfeed, betokening that he had uploaded something. The curiosity in me didn't let me control, and I right away viewed his story. It was a 'Ask me a Question' in his story. Near his profile picture, the time was shown when he uploaded the story, and it displayed, '3s'.
Oh, crap! I viewed his story way too early.
I immediately closed my phone as I knew if I look at it a few more seconds then, I would probably ask him a question the next second. I wanted to ask a question to him as he uploaded this for the first time. Nevertheless, I decided to reply later as I didn't want my question, to be the first one. Obviously, many others may have already asked but still, I wished to have my question somewhere in the middle rather than being the first one.
Ten minutes passed, and I couldn't restrain myself anymore. Undoubtedly, I had thousands of questions to ask Shaym, and it would never end. However, I obliged to be particularly careful and wise whilst asking so that he won't feel any sort of scepticism that I have a crush on him. Furthermore, being the dumb, I decided to ask the most natural-looking, casual question which came to my mind.
"Why do you like Yamaha so much?"
My question was not a bad one, right?
For a strange reason, I was scared and felt like my question was ridiculous. I even got frightened to turn on my phone again, pondering on what Shaym would have replied, on his account. Nearly struggling after forty minutes, I eventually grabbed my phone again to check his story on whether he replied or not. My phone vibrated, indicating that I have received a message on my account. A message from him?

Woah, He sure doesn't know how to chat.
Guess that smiling emoji is his favourite. I assumed staring at the chat and decided to use that emoji often as I never use.
I opened his last message and didn't reply as there was nothing left for me to say. Shaym could've asked something, right? I later noticed that he haven't shared any of the responses he got for 'ask me a question' on his account.
He may have replied personally like this to everyone. And, here I thought he especially messaged his answer only to me.
The next day, came the best interesting part of my life. Sharing about the conversation I had with Shaym to my group of friends. I showed them how he personally messaged me, which was like he initiated a chat, even though I was the one who asked him a question in the first place. But still, he messaged me.
"You guys see this!? Shaym messaged me separately for the question. He must have searched for my profile by typing my name or he must have searched for my old chat or he-"
"URGHH... Stop being so dramatic Naizaaa." My friends screamed in unison for the way how I was exaggerating the shortest chat I had with Shaym.
"But, Naizaa..." Zayna urged, pondering something.
"What is it, Zey?" I inquired as the doubts and questions she always had would be either utterly stupid or something extraordinary.
"That day when you wrote a letter to Shaym, I remember you saying that you mentioned about liking Yamaha because of him, right?"
"Yeah, so?" I asked as I didn't understand what she was trying to convey.
"And you asked him yesterday why you like Yamaha! Isn't there a chance that he may have identified that the letter was from you?"
"WHAT! B-but..." I became numb and didn't know what to reply. What she stated was right. I never thought before sending him a question. Did he understand?
"But we still don't know whether he received the letter or not," I said suddenly remembering my letter I wrote that day.
"Yeah, maybe."
â¢â¢â¢
Our study leave started, and a few of our seniors informed us that they all studied from the library during study leave. They suggested us by saying to study from there as it was a huge, serene place, ideal to study without any unpleasant dins.
Therefore, we also decided to do combine study from the college library so even Talha could study along with us. That's when Talha introduced us to one of the seniors from our department. He had failed a subject in his previous year, so he was writing that paper again this year. Talha inquired whether that senior could also join us.
His name was Nafiz; a cute boy who wore specs. He had straight dark brown hair, was tall, and had no facial hair. The ironic part was that we never observed him from our department even though his class was right next to our classroom.
When I was explaining the formula's from the textbook, Jina abruptly jerked me up and stated, "Now, Naiza will always come to the library to study." She then motioned me to look towards the right with her eyes.
Mr Cute was progressing towards the stairs, which were opposite to me, and the time when I glanced at his direction, he saw me. I instantly shifted my gaze and acted like I was teaching Talha, but I felt like his stare was still on me until he reached upstairs.
Why is he looking at me like that? Did he get to know that I have a crush on him?
We shortly completed studying one module which was the toughest amidst the all and went home early, feeling accomplished by studying the worst module.
When I was scrolling through Instagram, I saw a meme which caught my attention. I quickly took a screenshot of that, then searched Mr Cute's profile and took a screenshot of one of his photos where he smiled widely. Later edited his photo as his friends were also with him in that picture, added it with the meme and saved it. I thought to text Talha first as he was one of them who loved and supported all my stupid things.
Me: Talhaa, do you want to see something? Don't laugh.
Talha: Yeah, okay. Lemme see.
Talha: Naizaa, you're mad ððð
Me: Hehe, ikrð
Talha: Send this to Shaym. It will be fun!
Me: Not fun, I'll be dead! You are mad.
I thought of showing this meme to the rest of my friends tomorrow when I see them from the library. As we studied from college earlier, I was tried and was sleepy. When I was about to sleep, my phone beeped, and it was a message from Anna.
Anna: Naiza, do you have your 1st-semester math notebook?
Me: Yeah, I have it, but I wrote everything in horrible handwriting, so only I can understand. Why do you want it?
Anna: You remember Aysha, Shaym's friend? She asked me.
She told me some of the boys in her class failed that paper last year, so they are writing that paper again, and we have the same syllabus (because maths was a common subject paper)
Me: Ohh...
Anna: So, she said it's for Shaym and some other boys.
That's why I asked you, so you can give your notebook to him.
Me: If I knew something like this would happen,
I would have written neatly ð
Anna: It's okay. I'll ask someone else.
Me: Okay. ðð
Anna: ðð
Me: I hate my handwriting now.
Anna: HAHAH
The next day, I reached early at the library and promptly showed the meme which I made yesterday to all of my friends. As expected, they all hilariously chuckled and called me crazy. Indeed, I was a little tad out of my mind to create something childish like that meme. I don't know what made me create the meme but, one thing was sure that, I relished making it and liked the meme enormously as it was remarkably true and matching with my situation as I started to have a crush on him because of his smile. That damn smile.
Anna reached pretty late for our study, and when we asked her why, she answered, "I went to Manha's hostel to give her maths notebook to Aysha, the one who asked for the book yesterday."
Manha was the topper of our class, and she always wrote notably unique handwriting in her notebook which resembled like a printed book. So, this is the book which will be given to Shaym and his friends to study.
The moment I saw her notebook, an idea protruded up in my mind. I instantly tore the first page of her notebook, where her name and roll number, was written. On top of the next page in the book, I wrote my name and roll number. Anna and Jina saw what I did, and they immediately snatched away the book from me, and on the backside of the notebook, they wrote my name numerous times and then even wrote their own names.
Now, the book resembled exactly, like my book, completely scribbled and presentable. Aysha called and told Anna to come to their department with the book. Shaym didn't come to the library today, and I thought to go with Anna to their department so that I could see him.
The weather was extremely scorching and tiring. On top of that, Shaym's department was at the other end of the college. If we walk and go there, we would be probably dead by the time we reach in the department. I and Anna didn't have the strength to walk till there under the burning sun. Hence, we decided to go on her scooter through the main road as it was easy.
We parked the scooter outside when we reached their department as taking it inside was a bad option. I was the one who was holding the notebook. I was not even sure if he was here or not but still, I had a feeling that I would see him.
Shaym's class, computer science was on the ground floor, but when we entered inside their classroom, no one was there. The classroom door was open wide and the whole class was empty. Even their department looked vaguely spooky as there was no one here. The department had long corridors, classes on either edge and pathway were dark. It was merely afternoon, and still, it was quite dark.
We both stood there like fools, contemplating roughly what to do. Is Mr Cute here or not?
From the other end which was a little far away, we saw a shadow pacing towards us. It was unusually vague, and we were not able to clearly see who it was. So, like two dumbstruck girls, we curiously stared at the shadow shuffling closer to us. One thing was clear that it was a boy and was almost near us.
(The scene was exactly like the first 50 seconds of this video)
It was Shaym! Anna and I were shamelessly staring at him whilst he was pacing, and that made me feel embarrassed. As soon as I saw him, like a fool, I turned towards the left from my current position, which was facing him. Idiot. He clearly saw me turning away from his sight.
I immediately veered back again as I realised the stupidness I did. Shaym was almost impending to walk past us and halted his steps when I opened my mouth and urged him, "Where is Aysha?" I was squashing the book in my hand due to the impulsiveness.
Why did I open my mouth!
Nevertheless, I hoped that he didn't notice my nervousness. "She is upstairs, in the staff room," he replied back instantly.
I promptly replied okay and marched towards the stairs. "Why did you turn when you saw him? He will have doubt you, fool!" Anna said when we reached upstairs.
"I don't know," I said, gritting my teeth.
We gave the book to his friend, Aysha and my dramatic friend, Anna said to her, "Yeah, Aysha. It's a tough subject. We only passed because of Naiza as she tutored us."
"Oh, poor boys are troubled as they have to study themselves." She replied.
"We are even doing combine study from the library with one of our seniors." Anna said to which Aysha replied, "Wow, you all are so great." And then, we parted our ways.
"Anna! You made it too obvious that you were literally suggesting me to tutor Shaym and his friends." I shrieked at her when we were out of the department.
"Now, don't blame me. I was just trying to help you." She winked.
"Ya, ya. Help. Very much thank you." I mocked saying.
When we reached back to the library, I narrated the scene to all of them. "Woah, it's like the scene from Goblin, the Korean drama," Zuha stated.
"Yeah, that's what actually happened," I spoke and beamed.
Going to the library during the study holiday became our routine. It was a Saturday, so everyone said that they were not coming to college as it was the weekend. Even I decided to sit and study from home, but Talha insisted Jina and me to come so that he could study. Otherwise, he would be sleeping all day, neglecting his books. He also said that I could see Mr Cute, and that spurred me to go to college on a Saturday.
It was the first time ever we went to college on a non-working day, and the college looked unusually parched. Just a few of the staffs and two, three other students in the library.
Talha, the one who summoned me to come, was in no mood to study. He kept playing that damn PUBG game on his phone. The main reason why he called us to come to college was that he was bored and was not for the purpose to study. I got annoyed and asked, "Where is Mr Cute? You said he will be here, and I can't see anybody,"
"I thought he would be here but don't know where he is. I didn't even see him from the hostel today," Talha said and took out his phone and dialled to call someone.
After saying 'All the best' into the phone, he cut the call and said, "I called Basil. He said that they are at the NIT Festival, as they are participating in the dance competition, and there is also a cash prize for the winners"
"Ohh, so did their performance start?" I asked.
"No, he said it will start soon, and they will be returning back here as soon as the results come," Talha answered, and we decided to study at least a little.
We took a break when it was afternoon and considered to study the rest later. When I opened the WhatsApp group, Basil shared their dance group photo with a caption,
"Alhamdulillah, we got first prize in dance at NIT Festival!"
Seeing this, I requested Talha, to call and ask Basil when they would be returning. I wanted to see him so that this time I could directly congratulate Shaym. Basil informed us that they would come afterwards, and hearing this, I got wistful.
When I opened Instagram, Mr.Cute had uploaded a story of the same photo, which Basil has shared in the group. Talha and Jina urged me to send a reply, and after pondering for a long time, I ultimately replied,
"Congrats!ð¥"
Within seconds, he replied back,
"ðð¥"
"See, I told you! There is no use of sending him a message because he will only reply something like this," I said to Jina and Talha. He and his emoji were nothing new to me now.
"Naizaa, this is your only chance. College is ending, so if you want to be friends with him, message him," Talha said.
"But what's there to message? He has already ended the conversation by sending that emoji!" I stated the facts.
"Ask him to give you treat or something. He has won a cash prize so ask him something like that," Talha suggested and it didn't feel like it was a too bad idea.
However, I pondered and after a few minutes, I finally sent the message,
"Got cash prize right? When is the treat? ð"
That wink was unnecessary, Naiza. I internally facepalmed.
After one minute he replied back,
"Ho, but there is no more college. It's over."
I read his reply from the notification bar without viewing the message. What he said was right. College was over. Only a few of our exams were left, and like the previous semester, we both were having exams on different days, so there was a point in what he told. College is over, and I won't be seeing him.
"It's over, man! There is nothing left for me to reply. I'll just send him a 'ya' as a reply" I declared and was about to click the send button, but Talha stopped me.
"No, Naiza. Don't send something like that. The chat will definitely end. Just ask him to give you treat today because Basil said that they will be coming back to college," Talha suggested to which Jina nodded.
Should I send it like that? Jina nodded. Did she just read my mind or something?
Repeatedly, I pondered a few minutes, and then, I replied back,
"Then, how about giving a treat today ð ?"
Surprising me, he replied back in an instant. Is he so jobless or something?
"I'm here at NIT ð"
"I told you it's over! Now, I will send him an 'oh', and he is going to see that message and will not reply back in the end," I clarified and decided to send an 'oh' and end the chat without more awkward conversations.
Out of the blue, Talha snatched away the phone from my hand and said not to send that message. He then typed a message and grinned mischievously.
"Ooh ð¢"
"N0! TALHAAA! Don't send a message with that crying emoji!" I growled. Due to my panic shrieking, Talha accidentally sent the message which he typed.
"Oh no! What did you do?!" I literally cried and seized back the phone. To my luck, Shaym didn't see the message, so I quickly unsend the message and sent a simple,
" oh."
Then I started to fire back at Talha, "What if he read that message from notification?" I questioned.
"No, I don't think so," he said casually, not at all bothered by his stupid mistake.
Later, I ignored him completely as I was annoyed at him. I was more than certain that Mr Cute would be replying to the message with his mandatory 'haa' or an emoji to my message, but his reply stunned me.
"We can consider it. ð"
Huh, consider it? Consider giving me a treat? So, he wants to give me a treat?
Due to the excitement I literally jumped up in joy, and Talha began taunting me, "Now you are happy right? It's all because of me," he announced proudly.
I instantly replied back,
"In sha Allahð"
He liked that message and our conversation ended. This time I wasn't disheartened that he didn't reply as that one message from him, stating that he would consider to give me treat made me more than pleased.
As my usual routine, I opened my WhatsApp group and send a message, "I'm going on a date with Mr Cute. Yay!"
All of them were astonished to see my message and asked how, what, when. I described to them what happened and even they were shocked like me when he said 'consider' because a message like this was rare from his side.
It was now evening, and he has not yet reached back to college from his program. I disturbed Talha for the hundredth time to call Basil and ask whether they were coming to college now or not. Wistfully, he informed us that they were not coming, and the more sad part was, I only had two more exams left. When will I see him again? Is he really going to give me a treat?
Assalamu Alaikum
