Chapter 114
When Janet was back to their suite, she found a few maids and servants gathered by the door.
There was a frightened look on their face. They were all whispering in an urgent
voice.
Janet stopped and hid behind the corner, listening quietly to what they were saying. âAre you serious?â one maid gasped in hushed tones. âThe King seriously asked Alpha Daran to OUR training field. What was he thinking?â
The guard sighed, âI am deadly serious. And who knows what the King was thinking? All I know is that a few of our best warriors challenged Alpha Daran to a duel. And all of them were defeated by Daran. One guy was so badly injured that he was still in a coma right now.â
The group took in a collective intake of breath.
âI thought he couldnât shift in our city. Even without his wolf, he is still so incredibly strong. My godâ¦can you believe this?â
âJust think about what happened at the banquet a few days ago,â another maid added quietly. âDaran snapped an iron lock with his bare hands and stuck a candlestick into our Kingâs chest! I donât think that there is a single man in this city who can handle him. Keeping him here is like locking a wild beast in our own home!â
âKeeping him here is the Kingâs decision. But if you ask me, I think we should have him killed, as soon as possible, before things get out of control!â the guard groaned.
âBut who dares to challenge the King? And who is powerful enough to have Alpha Daran killed?â
âC-Canât we figure something out?â a maid suggested reluctantly, âWe all have close access to him and his Gamma. Can we likeâ¦I donât knowâ¦add some wolfsbane to their soup or-or muffle them with a pillow?â
âYou canât kill an Alpha with wolfbane, silly!â
Janet was done listening to their conversations.
She cleared her throat and stepped out of the corner.
The group jerked around at once. Their face grew pale as soon as possible.
âG-Gamma Janet!â a guard gasped, horrified.
Janet walked towards the door. She made a brief stop at the maid who suggested killing them with wolfsbane.
The maid lowered her head in fear. Her body was trembling violently.
âYour friend was right,â Janet said with an icy smile. âYou canât kill an Alpha with wolfsbane.â
âG-
-Gamma Janet, I-I didnât mean toâ¦pleaseâ¦please forgive meâ¦
âBut if you dare to make a move, we will find out. And we will make sure that you pay the price for your recklessness,â Janet said coolly.
With that said, she stepped into the suite and shut the door in their face.
Daran was sitting on the couch, drinking a glass of wine when she walked in. He raised an eyebrow in surprise when he noticed that her clothes were all wet.
âWhat happened?â
He walked up to her, pulling her into his arms.
âYou went for a swim today?â
âSort of.â
Janet wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him tightly, âI had a blast today. How about you? I heard that you kicked some asses today. Did you have fun?â
Daran chuckled lowly.
âI did,â he said. âLance invited me to his training field and asked a few warriors to challenge me. He probably thought that I would be vulnerable without my wolf, and he could take this chance and have me publicly humiliatedâ¦But apparently, he was wrong.â
Janet laughed, âThat is my man!â
Daranâs eyes darkened when he heard her referring to him as her man.
He stared at her deeply, with love and passion burning in his eyes.
âSoâ¦â
He planted a kiss on her lips, murmuring hoarsely.
âAny reward for the man who just won a few rounds of duel?â
Janet stood on tiptoes and kissed him back, âOf courseâ¦Anything that you like.â
Daran picked her up from the floor and had her legs wrapped around his waist. He carried her to the couch and kept kissing her hungrily.
They fell onto the couch together.
Daran rolled over and kept her under him. He started peeling off her wet clothes.
Janet raised her neck, panting roughly. His tongue now circled around her belly button, which created a tingling sensation between her legs.
âL-Letâs move into the bedroomâ¦â she breathed.
âHere is fine.â
He rolled up her skirt and kissed her upper thigh eagerly.
âI canât wait a second longer,â he said huskily.
Janet closed her eyes as a trembling moan escaped her lips.
Her mind was clouded by desire.

Daran separated her legs. And just when he was about to take things to the next base, they heard the widow make a cracking noise behind their back.
âWho is there!â
Daran jerked around immediately and snapped.

Janet sat up straight as well.
She saw a dark figure outside of their window. After a short moment of shock, she realized who that was.
It was Kass.
She asked him to find her in their room tonight.
But she was so caught up in their passion that she completely forgot about it.
âWhat is he doing here!â Daran hissed.
âI asked him to come.â
Janet got off the couch and hurried to open the window to let Kass in.
Kass jumped in. He cast a dark look at Janetâs loosened collar and his jaw tightened.
âWere you messing around with him before I got here?â Kass asked aggressively. âDid you forget about our meeting?â
âI didnât forget. It is just-
âWatching your fucking tone.â Daran stepped forward and gave Kass a withering look. âIt was none of your business.â
Kass clenched his fists.
He looked furious. But he didnât dare to challenge an Alpha.
âI just think thatâ¦we should really keep our mind focused on the real business here,â he said slowly while trying hard to contain his temper. âI was simply looking out for us. That is all.â
Daran let out a snort, âIs that so? Or are you just jealous?â
Kass gritted his teeth in fume.
âDonât be ridiculous, Daran. Kass is not jealous,â Janet said quickly. âAs a matter of fact, Kass just found his mate today. He already has a woman that he really cares about.â
Daran raised an eyebrow.
âWell then, congratulations,â he said coolly. âIn this case, go mind your own business between you and your mates. Stop snooping around here.â
Kass took in a deep breath and lapsed into silence. He looked rather frustrated and defeated.
âTell us what you have found out, Kass,â Janet said, eager to bring the subject back on the right track.
âFineâ¦I followed the lead that you gave me and tried to ask people if they knew how the former Rogue King died.â
âAnd?â
âNobody knew,â Kass shook his head. âApparently, if people know how the former King died, they will also know how to kill the current King. So Lance kept this as a top secret.
He saw the disappointed look on Janetâs face and quickly added to that, âBut I found
of information !!
âWhich is?â Janet pursued.
âThe former Kingâs son is still alive,â Kass said.
âWow, that is amazing!â Janet gasped in joy, âIf we can have his son work with us, we will be able to crack the mystery of how to kill Lance. So who is this former Kingâs son? Where can we find him?â
âThe person that I talked to didnât give me a name. He said that only people who ranked really high up would knowâ¦â Kass said reluctantly, âSomeone likeâ¦the Kingâs Cabinet Minister.â
âMorgana?â Janet raised her voice. âIsnât she your mate?â
Daran narrowed his eyes, âThen what are you waiting for? Go ask your mate.â
Kass gave Daran a gloomy look, âI-I just met her today! I barely know herâ¦I donât even like her that much. I donât think she will tell me.â
Daran let out a sarcastic snort.
Janet patted Kassâs shoulder and said in a comforting voice, âDonât worry. We are here to help. She gave you her number today, right? Call her. See if she is willing to meet up.â
âI already called. She said thatâ¦she was in a club downtown tonight. But I donât want to go alone,â Kass murmured.
âThen we will go as a group.â Janet beamed, âI am just in the mood for a night drink.â
