Chapter 123
There was a ringing silence in the room. Both Janet and Andre were shocked.
âAre you crazy?â Andre gasped, âYou canât kill Danton! Not that I want him alive or anything⦠You just wonât be able to kill him! It is impossible!â
Daran snorted, âWhy? Is he immortal like Lance?â
âNo. But he is a General, a bit shot in this city! Always surrounded by plenty of guards. Killing him is an impossible task.â
âI have killed thousands of rogues. And there are more soldiers on the battlefield than here. So nothing is impossible,â Daran said with an offhand tone.
He turned to look at Janet, âWhat do you think?â
Janet slowly shook her head in awe.
Killing Danton had never crossed her mind.
Because they were under Lanceâs watch. Keeping a low profile had always been their top priority.
Murdering the Rogue Kingâs general was definitely high profile.
Yetâ¦on the contraryâ¦
If they could have this thing done quietly, without causing any attention, it certainly worked to their advantage.
Andre would be free from Dantonâs torment, permanently.
Lance would lose a great help.
And on top of that, she hated that bastard. It would be fucking awesome to cut his throat open.
Thinking about that, Janet stretched her mouth into a grin and said briskly, âYeah, I am on board. Let us do this.â
They looked at each other and smiled at the same time.
âFuckâ¦God. You are crazy. The both of you!â
Andre groaned, pulling his own hair in frustration.
âIf you fail and this thing gets exposed, Danton and the Rogue King will toss me into a fucking oven and roast me to death!â
Janet ignored the freaking-out kid and looked at Daran.
âBut this thing has to go quietly,â she said. âWe need to find a time when he is alûne. And it needs to be clean so that no trace can lead back to us.â
Daran nodded, âHow about we kill him in his sleep?â
âNah.â
Andre chimed in and said, âHe never sleeps alone. Always has a mistress in his bed to keep him company. And his guards stayed in the room when he sleeps, keeping a close watch on him.â
Janet rolled his eyes.
What a fucking coward.
This prick looked nothing like a general.
âIt is better if we can make it seem like a suicide instead of murder,â Daran
pondered. âIf it is a suicide, Lance wonât look too much into it. Our hands will be cleaned.â
Janet let out a sarcastic laugh, âDanton doesnât look like a guy with suicidal intent. He is too busy making other people want to kill themselves.â
A short silence fell upon them.
Everyone was working their brain, thinking about how to complete this seemingly impossible task.
âActuallyâ¦I have an idea.â
Andre broke the silence and raised his head up to look at Janet and Daran.
âThere is a perfect time and location for you to do that.â
âGo ahead. We are all ears,â Janet said.
Andre gulped and said in a slightly shaky voice, âEvery spring, Danton would organize hunting in the woods. This will be an exclusive event and only a few of his friends will be invitedâ¦â
Janet nodded.
Hunting was a common social event for werewolves.
Back in Riverside Pack and Blood Moon Pack, they often organized hunting, especially in hunting seasons like spring and fall.
âSure. We can fake an accident and kill Danton during the hunting. But it is not going to be easy.â
Janet said with a frown.
âDanton will be surrounded by more people during an event like that. Plus, the hunting takes place in bright daylight. Bad timing for a clean assassin.â
If they were back in their own packs and they had the man source, Janet was confident that they could fake an accident.
But here?
She was not so sure.
Andre shook his head, âNo. You got me wrong. I am not asking you to kill him during the huntingâ¦I am talking about-afterward.â
He took in a deep breath and a disgusted look appeared on his face, as though some nasty memories just came to his mind.
âThe highlight of this event is not hunting itself, but the afterparty,â Andre said with a revolted tone. âAfter the daytime hunting, they will camp out in the woods, build tents, and stay the night. Because it is so far away from the city, the publicâs eyes, willâ¦go crazy. A carnival, a fucking boarish and goaty one.â
Janet frowned.
Her stomach swirled in disgust.
âHow crazy are we talking about here?â she asked.
âVery.â
Andreâs jaw tightened.
âBooze, women, drugs⦠you name it. Danton would force the nearby peasants and hunters to bring their female family members to this party as tributes. Not all girls can survive a horrible incident like thatâ¦Every year when the sun rises up, we end up burying some fresh bodies.â
Janet clenched her fists with anger boiling inside of her.
âDoes Lance know about this?â she hissed.
âOf course, he knows. What else do you expect?â Andre rolled his eyes. âDanton is like his best buddy. They do all kinds of nasty things together.â
âGood to know.â
Janet gritted her teeth, a cold and merciless gleam in her eyes, âI already canât wait for the day when I finally kill them.â
Daran placed a hand on her shoulder, âSoon. You wonât wait for long.â
He turned to look like Andre, âBut Lance wonât be at this hunting, right?â
âNo. He doesnât like to be seen with the commoners.â
âGood. And during the night, do they get their own tent?â
âYes.â Andre nodded, âIt is the one night that he doesnât ask the guards to stay in his room.â
âFabulous. And I already have the idea of how to kill him and fake it as a suicideâ¦the drug,â Daran said.
Janetâs eyes lit up, âRight. If we force him to take a lethal amount of drugs, it will kill
him. And it will seem like a drug misuse, not murder.â
A decent plan was gradually coming into shape.
Only one problem was left.
âCan we sneak into this camp area without alerting the guards?â Janet asked.
âThe outside will be heavily guarded. So you need a clever way in.â
Andre paused. His eyes flickered towards Janet.
âYou knowâ¦I was thinkingâ¦Those civilian daughters. If you can blend into the female tributeâs crowd, you will have easy access to Dantonâs tent-â
âNO!â Daran snapped abruptly.
Andre was startled. He shut his mouth immediately.
âAbsolutely not,â Daran repeated in a stern voice.
âWhy not?â Janet frowned, âIt sounds logical to me.â
âLogical my ass! Do you have any idea of what kind of people are going to be there? Drunk, thirsty men and they are all high on drugs! Have you considered the risk?!â
Janet was pissed.
She raised her volume and snarled back, âI am well aware of the danger! And donât you forget that I am a warrior! I can protect myself! If it is Balvina here tonight, or Maxie, will you stop them from doing this?â
Daran clenched his fists in rage.
If it was Balvina or Maxie, he would not object to this plan.
Because he didnât give a damn about other women.
Janet was the only woman he cared about in this world.
âYou canât stop me.â
Janet said in a serious voice, looking at Daran straight in the eyes.
âIt is my battle. And I am going to fight it.â
Daran looked right back at her. Anger flickered across his eyes.
Yet there was no further objection from him.
Andre starched his head nervously and asked, âSoâ¦Have you reached a conclusion?â
Janet nodded firmly, âOn the night of the hunting. We do this.â
âGreat.â Andre let out a sigh of relief, âThere is still a week left before the hunting. Enough time for us to prep things. Now I better head backâ¦before Danton gets suspicious.â
âTake the window,â Janet said. âAnd have a story ready when Danton asks about what happened tonight. We donât want to alert him.â
âYou bet.â
Janet went to see Andre off.

When she returned to the bedroom, she found Daran standing by the window alone with his back facing her.
She could sense his anger.
She walked up to him and coiled her arms around his waist.
âDonât be mad.â
She leaned her face against his back, whispering, âI just want to be there with you at every fight.â
There was a short moment of silence.
Then Daran turned around abruptly and backed her against the wall. He caught her lips hungrily.
âWhy canât you just be a normal woman for a change?â
He breathed heavily, biting her bottom lip harshly as a punishment.
âWhy canât you just let me protect you?!â
Janet wrapped her arms around his neck. She opened her mouth and welcomed his tongue in.
ââ¦Because that is what you love about me,â she groaned. âWe are fightersâ¦We are
perfect for each otherâ¦â
They fell to the bed together.
And immersed themselves in the wild passion.
