Chapter 152
Westin was the last person Janet expected to see here.
This was the maidâs dormitory, restricted to men. The guardâs rooms were on the other side of the building.
Westin shouldnât have the access.
Yet nobody here was top panicked to see a man enter their dorm. Instead, all maids seemed pretty excited to see Westin.
âWestin!â
One maid cried and hurried to welcome Westin, wrapping her arm around Westinâs, âWhat are you doing here? Are you here to play poker with us tonight?â
Before Westin could answer, two more maids rushed over slapped the first maidâs hand away, and yelled:
âGill! You stick at poker! Westin, you should not let her play with us this time.â
âYeah, she is such a bad player. Westin, come over to my room. I just bought a new bottle of Bourbon, your favorite kind.â
The first maid named Gill blushed with embarrassment.
She snapped, âThe Bourbon you bought is the cheapest kind you can find in a liquor store! Westin doesnât drink her wine. It will hurt your tongue. Come and hang out with me. You said that you liked playing poker with me, didnât you? Tell them, Westin!â
Janet watched this bunch of women fight over Westin with a raised eyebrow.
It sounded like Westin often came to the maidâs dorm during the night and hung out
with them.
He made all the girls go crazy for him.
What a womanizer.
Just then, Wendy cleared her throat, silencing all yells and yammers.
âWhat the hell are you doing?â she said sternly to those maids, âThere is a curfew! And you are all getting up early to serve the masters tomorrow. Have you all lost your mind?â
Gill and the other maids pouted and lowered their heads.
Wendy then turned to Westin and a smile appeared on her lips again, âWestin, but if you would like to kill some time before bedtime. We can talk over a nice bottle of wine in my roomâ¦â
Janet let out a loud, sarcastic laugh.
âWhat the hell are you laughing about!â Wendy glared at her.
Janet shrugged, âYou didnât allow the other girls to hang out with Westin, but you can do it yourself. I am just laughing at the double standard.â
Wendyâs face turned tomato red.
âI am the supervisor!â Wendy yelled, âI am justâWe are going to discuss some serious matters-â
âWhat serious matter? Oh, like when can I get a decent room with a proper bed?â
âYou whiny little bitch-â
Westin raised a hand and interrupted their quarrel, âWendy, I appreciate your offer. But I am not here to chat with you or play poker tonight.â
Wendy looked disappointed, âButâ¦â
âNot tonight,â Westin said in a polite yet firm voice. âI am here to check on a certain someone.â
Hearing him say that, all the maidâs eyes lit up with excitement.
âWho?â Gill asked with an expectant look, âIs it me?â
Westin smiled.
His gaze traveled across the crowd and landed on Janetâs face, âJanet, how are you doing tonight?â
An astonished gasp could be heard from the crowd.
âYou are here to check on her?!â Gill snarled, âHow did you know her?â
Yet Westin didnât answer. He was still looking at Janet with his full attention, âSo what is the earlier fuss about? I heard that you donât have a room?â
Janet looked sideways at Wendy, who suddenly seemed very nervous.
âAll I get is a closet with a dirty rag tossed on the floor,â Janet said. âAs for the reason, maybe you should ask the supervisor.â
Westin turned his gaze back to Wendy.
âWendy?â he demanded, his voice
cold.
Wendy gulped. Her breathing became shallow, âIâ¦It is just temporary. We donât have an extra room. All dorms are fullâ¦â
âSo when can I get my own room?â
âSoon.â Wendy simpered, âLet me see what I can do.â
But Janet knew that âsoonâ probably meant never.
Westin said with a nod, âOK. I see what is going on here. I have a simple solution to this,â
Janet looked at him.
Just when she thought that Westin was going to press Wendy to arrange her a room, she heard his voice saying:
âBefore Janet gets her own room, she stays in my room.â
âWhat?!â gasped all maids in unison.
âNO! It is against the rule!â Wendy cried.
Janet parted her lips in astonishment, staring at Westin in awe.
Her staying in Westinâs room⦠Was he crazy?
Westin still looked very calm, âI donât see why not. Janet doesnât have a room and I am inviting her to stay with me. Is there a problem?â
âMaids shouldnât stay the night in the guardâs room!â Wendy cried, âAnd you only have one bedâ¦.Are you giving it to her? Or are youâare you staying in the same bed?â
Westin chuckled lightly, âI believe that the rule can be bent. As for the sleeping arrangement, me and Janet will figure something out.â
With everyone staring at them in disbelief, he offered a hand to Janet.
âWhat do you say?â he asked with a smile.
After a long pause, Janet answered with a nod, âSure. That works.â âNO!!â Wendy snapped.
She looked furious, partly because Janet wouldnât be sleeping on the cold, damp floor as she had hoped, partly because Janet was going to spend the night with the man that they all loved.
Janet darted her a cold glare, âIt is your problem that I donât get a room tonight. If you donât like this arrangement, fix it soon.â
She walked up to Westin.
âLet us go,â she said.
Westin beamed and rounded his arm around her waist.
When they were about to leave, Janet heard Wendyâs angry voice behind her back, âIf you leave, I will report this to the maters-â
Westin paused and looked beyond his shoulder. His gaze turned cold and sharp abruptly, âI donât see why we need to bother the maters with this. Donât you agree, Wendy?â.
Although Westin looked nice and approachable most of the time, he could be pretty intimidating when he was serious.
Wendy quivered. Slowly, she lowered her head and murmured a âyes.ââ
Westin smiled, âGood. I am glad that we reached a common ground.â
He held Janet and led her to leave the maidâs dorm.
Janet shook his hand off as soon as they stepped onto the staircase.
âThank you.â
She said in a polite yet distant voice, âBut I can crush on a bench somewhere. You donât need to take me to your room.â
Westin chuckled, âAre you dumping me already? How cruel.â
His sexy, husky voice sent a shiver down her spine.
She quickly looked away from his gorgeous face and asked, âWhy are you here tonight?â
âI heard that your crazy ex finally let you out of his room. So I have to come and see how you are doing. Looks like I come at the right time.â
Janet gazed into the air, saying nothing.
âCome and stay with me for the night, alright?â Westin said, persuasively, âThe guards are patrolling around everywhere. They will catch you if you stay on a bench and ask a bunch of questions. You donât want that kind of trouble.â
Janet sighed.
He was right about that.
âFine.â she caved in, âWhere is your room?â
Westinâs room was not/in the basement but on the third floor. It was not as fancy as Morganaâs room but nice and spacious enough. It even has its own private bathroom.
Probably the captainâs privilege.
Westin turned on the light and said. âMake yourself comfortable Would you like to
Westin turned on the light and said, âMake yourself comfortable. Would you like to take a shower?â
âNo. I am good.â
Westin chuckled and pulled his shirt over his head, âThen excuse me for a moment.
He got into the bathroom.
Janet looked around the room, which was tidier than she had expected. No dirty laundry on the floor. All clothes were properly hung in the closet. Even the bed was made.
There was only one twinâsized bed.
Janet cast a quick look at the bed. Her heart rate quickened slightly.
Donât be ridiculous. She told herself internally.
Then she went to sit on the couch and waited for Westin.
Moments later, Westin got out of the shower.
His damp hair clung to his forehead, adding to his rugged charm.
The water droplets glistened on his chiseled chest and slid down his n body following his wellâdefined abs, eventually disappearing into his shorts.
upper
He was indeed gorgeous, making it impossible to look away.
âWhy are you sitting on the couch?â he asked, drying his damp hair with a towel.
âThere is only one bed.â Janet pointed out the obvious.
âAnd?â Westin raised an eyebrow.
âI donât mind taking the couch,â Janet shrugged.
Westin chuckled lightly and walked up to her. He bent down, bracing his hands on the back of the couch, and looked straight into her eyes.
âThere is only one bed. We are mates. And I am crazy about you.
His eyes gleamed brightly under the damp, golden hair.
âYou see where I am going with this?â
