Chapter 161
Janet knew that she had nothing to hide.
She was not Daranâs Luna anymore, nor his mate.
Yet when he barged in here and saw her with Westin, her first instinct was still to cover Westin up.
Because the look on Daranâs face was justâ¦.terrifying!
His handsome face twisted in anger. His eyes burned with fury. His breathing was heavy and erratic.
The air around him seemed to crackle with tension. She could feel the intensity of his
emotions!
Reason, rationality, and his human side seemed to be fading.
All that was left in his eyes was his animal sideâthat raw, unbridled rage!
âDaran!â Janet hissed urgently, âDonât-â
Yet Daran didnât give her a chance to finish.
He lunged at Westin and grabbed his collar dragging him out of the bathtub.
He threw a powerful punch at Westinâs face, so powerful that Janet heard a light cracking noise of the broken bones!
âDaran!â Janet screamed.
Westin coughed and spat a mouthful of blood out.
He raised his arm to defend himself. But Daran caught his shoulders easily with both
hands and threw him against the wall.
Westinâs body crashed into the wall right a deafening noise. The enormous force caused a great collision. The brick wall came crashing down and fell on Westinâs collapsed body.
And Daran was not done yet.
With a long growl, he stretched his body, and wolf fur quickly appeared on his human skin.
Daran shifted!
Into a massive black wolf!
He bared his sharp fangs at Westin and let out a menacing growl.
A creeping chill was sent down Janetâs spine.
Westin could probably take a few punches from Daran if Daran was in his human
form.
But not Daranâs wolf!
That black wolf would absolutely kill Westin!
âSTOP-!!â
up
Janet yelled at the top of her lungs and staggered forward, trying to break the fight.
But she was too small and weak.
It simply took the wolf one swing of its tail and Janet was knocked to the floor again. She struggled to raise her head and looked ahead.
The black wolf placed its paw on Westinâs chest, pushing him down to the ruin of bricks.
Its mouth was wide open, ready to bite off Westinâs head at any second!
âWestin!â Janet cried, âShift! Or he will kill you!â
Westinâs jaw tightened staring at the giant wolf in front of him.
was
His body was covered in blood. His hair was a mess. And his right arm twisted into a strange angle.
Yet even at this critical moment, Westin still remained in his human form.
Janetâs body trembled.
She didnât get it.
Why didnât Westin shift?
He didnât stand a chance against Daran in his human form.
In a split second, something hit Janet.
There was one explanation to thatâWestin COULD NOT shift.
He was not a rogue. He came from the same world as they did.
He was a friend, not an enemy!
âDaran, SPOT!â Janet yelled at the top of her lungs, âHe is our friend! He is here to help usâ¦You canât kill him!â
Daranâs body froze for a brief moment.
Then he said in a freezing voice, âHe is a fucking rogue.â
âNo, he is not! Look at him. He canât shift. Just like me.â Janet cried.
Westinâs lips trembled slightly.
But he didnât deny Janetâs word.
Janet stared at the giant black wolf and said in a shaky voice, âDaran, you said that you betrayed us and turned to Lance because you wanted to unite the two world and bring permanent peace, right?â
âYes! But you didnât believe me!â Daran growled, glaring at Westin beneath his paws. âAnd you let this fucking bastard to get to you-â
âIf you are really doing this for a good deed and not personal interest, you shouldnât kill a friend who might be able to help us!â
Janet clenched her fists, âIf you kill himâ¦I will never, NEVER forgive you!â Daran, still in his wolf form, looked down at Westin, and then back at Janet. His yellow eyes filled with rage and hurt.
âYou wonât forgive me?â he repeated, his voice deep and menacing.
âYes. And I will fucking kill you to avenge him!â Janet cried with angry tears.
giedinger eyes.
Daran flinched as if he had been physically struck.
The black wolf shrunk and transformed into a tall man.
Daran dropped Westin to the floor and strode to Janet, his breathing coming in short and labored gasps.
âYou want to kill me?!â
He grabbed Janetâs collar and yanked her up from the ground,
His hands were stained with Westinâs blood.
âFor him? For a guy who you barely knowâAnd you are willing to do that to me?!â he roared.
Janet blinked to stop her tears from falling.
âYes!â she said shakily, âBecause you are growing more and more like a monster! Killing innocent man simply because you are jealous⦠You are a cold fucking monster!â
Daranâs face twisted.
He looked as though he wanted to snap Janetâs throat right now and then destroy the whole world.
Then he burst into laughter, âJanet, you dare to say these cruel things to me because you knew that I still love you. No matter what you say or what you doâ¦I will always. forgive you.â
Janet bit her lips.
Daran was right. That was what she thought.
He could force her to be a maid, humiliate her with words, or even roar at her.
But she didnât believe that he was capable of harming her physically.
â¦Was that going to change today?
âYou really do believe that there is nothing I can do with you, right?â Daran let out a cold sneer. âBut you will be surprised by what a jealous man can do.â
He grabbed Janetâs shoulder and dragged her out of her bathroom.
Janet cast one quick glance at Westin. He was still struggling to pull himself up with his body covered in blood.
Then she was pulled away by Daran.
It was already curfew. There was nobody outside, just the two of them marching down the hallway.
Janet could hardly keep up with his long strides.
âWhere are you taking me?â she hissed, âAnd what are you doing in my room!â She thought he was going to spend the night with that pretty maid.
âSilence.â
Daran said darkly, âYou still have time to wonder about me? I donât think understand the kind of situation that you are in.â
you
They took the elevator and went up.
Moments later, they stopped at a closed door.
Janetâs eyes widened with shock because she had recognized this place.
Daran seized her chin and forced her head up, âYou are right. I canât hurt you. Every time you enraged me, I just kept telling myselfâDo it. Show her your rage. But I just
canât. It is weak and pathetic, but it is also the truth.â
He tightened his grip, âI canâtâ¦but somebody else can. I am handing you to the one person who wonât hesitate to destroy you.â
Janet breathed, âDonâtâ¦â
Yet Daran had already knocked on that closed door.
A few seconds later, a voice came from behind the door, ââ¦Who is it?â
It was Harper.
