Chapter 243
Janet raised a brow and stared back at him defiantly, âHuge trouble? Like what? Are you going to lock me in your study again?â
Westin grinned, flashing his white teeth, âThat is a very good idea. And this time. when you beg me to stopâ¦.I wonât stop.â
Janet gave a huge heave and forced out a cold smile as well, âRelax. I wonât escape. your side again. Neverthelessâ¦you ARE the father of my child.â
Now it was Westinâs turn to darken his face.
They glared at each other with only an inch of gap between their faces. The others would probably think that they were intimate. But only the two of them could see the
cold gleam in each otherâs eyes.
âQueen Janet, why are you still standing there?â
Elder Lamonte stood up from the House of Shadowâs table and raised his glass,
âPlease take your seat. Let us toast to you!â
âHear! Hear!â a lot of elders echoed with him, âLet us toast to the hero who found. out the truth of this conspiracy!â
Agnes was sitting by the table as well, holding her head down.
Many elders had stood up. But only she remained sitting, hiding her face in the shadow.
âNot so fast, Elder Lamonte.â Janet said with a cold smile, âThere is still one more business to be tackled before we start celebrating.â
She gave a nod to Clemente, who bore down upon Agnes and grabbed her wrist.
âYou! OUT!â
He snarled and yanked Agnes up from her seat.
A round of gasps could be heard in the room.
âWhat is going on here!â cried an elder in shock.
A tiny figure rushed at him and clasped his leg, taking a bite at his leg.
It was Agnesâs son, Bryan.
âLet go of my mom!â the child shrieked.
Clemente grabbed the child by his collar and shoved him at a servant.
âTake Master Bryan to another room!â he ordered.
Then he dragged Agnes to the center of the hall and tossed her on the ground.
Agnes remained quiet during this whole time. Her face was a complete blank. Nobody could guess what she was thinking right now.
âClemente!â Elder Lamonte snarled, âAre you fucking crazy?!â
Clemente jerked around to his father, his eyes wide with rage, âNoâ¦I am not crazy, father. It is you who was blinded by this bitchâs lie!!! We all were!â
âWhat the fuckâThat is Agnes! Keavyâs mate! Your sisterâinâlawâ¦â
âAnd SHE KILLED KEAVY!â Clemente cried at the top of his lungs.
His roar echoed in the room, bringing the entire hall into a deathly silence.
Shock, perplex, and doubtâ¦flitted across peopleâs faces as they stared at Clemente as though he was insane.
Elder Lamonteâs jaw dropped.
A laugh of disbelief escaped his mouth as he gasped, âClementeâ¦for Moon. Goddessâs sake Clemente! Did you bump your head somewhere? And completely lost your fucking mind?! The restaurant owner killed him by mistake! You told us yourself-â
âThat is what Agnes wants us to believe!â Clemente said with tears in his eyes. we are all fooledâ¦BY HER!
âBut
He pointed a shaky finger at Agnes.
Agnes still hadnât said anything.
She sank to the floor with her eyes gazing into the distance as though she had lost her entire soul.
âWhere did all these come from?â Westin asked, a tight furrow between his brows. âWe havenât found the guy responsible for Elder Randyâs poison case yet. What makes you believe that/Agnes did it?â
âWe have proof!â
Clemente stepped up and pulled out his phone from his pocket.
He had saved all the evidence on his phone so that he could present it to people.
âThe red eyeballsâ¦Elder Randyâs symptom matches with Keavyâs, which is why we started reinvestigating Keavyâs case-
âWe?â Westin interrupted him.
âQueen Janet and 1.â Clementeâs eyes fell on Janet, âI couldnât have done these. without here.â
Westin followed Clementeâs gaze and looked at Janet. Different from Clementeâs, his eyes were very cold.
Janet let out a snort internally..
Westin was probably pissed that she went on digging the ancient history behind his back.
But what could he do?
She had done it already.
She ignored Westinâs cold gaze and added, âSo we started looking into Keavyâs case and noticed the restaurant ownerâs crime. That part you already knewâ¦â
âYes, we did! So why are we still talking about it?â Elder Lamonte snapped.
âBecause we found Agnesâs involvement. Clemente, can you show them the phone record and the surveillance footage?â
Clemente did what she asked. And Janet explained her theory.
After seeing this evidence, many peopleâs faces changed.
They started casting skeptical looks upon Agnes.
Yet Elder Lamonte still stood firmly by Agnesâs side, a tough look on his face. âThat proves nothing!â he snarled, âAgnes was hit by the ownerâs car, but can you prove that she swapped the labels? No. Agnes called the patrol center, but did she do it to divert Clemente? I donât think so. She was probably asking for help on behalf of a friend-â
âFATHER!â Clemente cried with bloodshot eyes, âHow did she get into your head?! The truth is laying plainly in front of your eyes-â
âSHUT UP!â his father roared back at him, âThis is Agnes for Christâs sake. She loves. your brother! She raised his only child! She is like my own daughter! Noâ¦No! Everything you showed us is shaky! I wonât buy itâ¦â
Janet looked at him from the side with calm eyes.
People didnât like to admit to their own blindness. She got it.
Which was why they needed something strong to convince Elder Lamonte.
Just then, a servant came rushing into the dining hall and handed a file to Clemente.
Clemente opened the file.
His eyes were lit with excitement.
âWe found the hard proof!â he cried, âAgnes sold the poison to the restaurant owner! And we have all the chat records between her and the owner! She even hired a mercenary to kill the owner tonight. The ownerâs body is still lying in the prison cell at this very momentâ¦.Agnes! Are you still going to deny all these?!â
All eyes were on Agnes right now.
Elder Lamonteâs lips trembled his expression a complete shock.
âAâAgnesâ¦darlingâ¦.Arenât you going to say something?â he shook Agnesâs shoulder, âThey got things wrong, didnât they? Tell them thatâ¦Hurryâ¦â
Agnesâs shoulders trembled.
She started laughing. Gradually, her laughter grew louder and louder. It became hysterical.
âWhat are you laughing at? Tell them that they were wrong!â Elder Lamonte snapped.
Agnesâs body shook with laughter. She stared at Janet. His lips were twisted by an evil grin.
âIâ¦I already sensed that I was losingâ¦When Westin brought this skank back to our Kingdomâ¦â she giggled. âThis skankâ¦she ruined everythingâ¦â
Westin balled his fists and gritted, âAgnes-
âOh, Westinâ¦.the things I have done for youâ¦like you wouldnât believe itâ¦â
Agnes laughed so hard that she had to gasp for breath, âBut why do you have to love.
this cold skank? Does she even love
you back? But I do, Westin! I DO!!! I love you fiercely! I am willing to destroy the whole world just to be with you-â
Elder Lamonte grabbed her collar and yanked her to his face.
âYou love the King?! Then what about my son?!â he snarled shakily, âMY SON! He gave you his heart and soul and an adorable child-â
âHe is the reason why I canât be with Westin!â Agnes shrieked, grinning savagely. âWhy did the Moon Goddess assign me to him? He was so soft and weak! He was not half as attractive as Westin! I wanted him dead the day we mated!
âMy brother is the noblest man I know!â Clemente cried.
âNoble my ass. Keavy was a puss,â Agnes snorted. âSo. If you need to blame anyone, blame Westin. He is the reason why I killed Keavy.â
Westin gave a shudder.
Janet looked at him and found that his gorgeous eyes were filled with pain and
sorrow.
