Chapter 244
Janet touched his hand, which was cold and clammy, and it sent a shiver down her body.
âGet it together, Westin,â she whispered into his ears.
He took a deep, shuddering breath and nodded, âYeah I knowâ¦Thanks.â
Janet turned to look at Agnes and sneered, âBlame Westin? You have got to be fucking kidding me. Is this how you guilted Clemente over the years? Nobody will be blamed tonight, except you. Get ready to be punished!â
Agnesâs face twisted with rage, âShut up! You have no right to talk to me like
what she has to say!â
Agnes trembled, her eyes filled with tears, âWestin! I did all of these for you! Can you find a single person on this planet who loves you as much as I do? We grew up together. We are meant to be together! The Moon Goddess must have got it rightâ¦Letâs fix her mistake nowâ¦â
Westin gave her a look of deep disgust.
âYour love disgusts me.â he hissed, âI would have rejected you on the spot if the Moon Goddess assigned you to me.â
âNO!â Agnes cried, âNo you are lyingâ¦You just need time to process thisâ¦You will come around eventually-â
âUnfortunately, time is what you donât have,â Janet said icily. âYou will be sentenced and start paying for your own sin.â
Agnes gritted, âYouâYou shameless ugly lowborn-â
âOh, and you talked about how you hated Keavy so much. But why did you stay married to him for years? Why didnât you ask him to reject your mate bond? And why did you give birth to his son?â
Agnes flinched, âItâ¦It is none of your businessâ¦â
âLet me guess. Because you canât give up on the extravagant life and noble status that he gave you,â Janet said with a taunting smile. âYou enjoy being called a lady. You love hanging out with the elderâs daughters and pretend that you are a highborn
yourself. Unfortunately, no matter how hard you fake it, none of this is real.
âShut up! SHUT UP!â
Agnes roared, her beautiful face smudged by tears, âI AM a lady! A member of the House of Shadow! All the girls look up to me-â
âNot anymore!â
Elder Lamonte snapped and turned to Westin with a stern face, âHouse of Shadow officially waives our protection of her! I ask for the Kingâs permission to expel her from our house-â
âYour permission is granted,â Westin said icily.
Agnes collapsed on the floor. Her face carried a glazed expression of shock.
âNoâ¦Noâ¦my titleâ¦â she murmured.
âYour title is stripped away! You are a commoner now!â Clemente snapped.
âNoâ¦You canât do thisâ¦I will die a ladyâ¦â
Just then, a cry came from behind their backs and a small figure came dashing into the crowd.
Bryan rushed to her motherâs side and stood firmly in front of her, keeping her behind his small body.
âYou bad guys!â he shrieked, âStay away from my mom!â
Agnes pulled him close and wailed to his shoulder, âMy son⦠My poor sonâ¦Do you know what they are doing to your mother?â
Bryan hid in her arms and kept a wary eye on everyone around them.
âBryan!â Clemente called his nieceâs name and took a step forward, âCome over to me. Donât listen to what she said-â
âYou swore to protect my mom! But you are hurting her! You big old liar! You all are!!!â the 5âyearâoldâs cry echoed in the room.
Clemente froze on his spot.
How could he explain to his niece that his own mother killed his father?
Noâ¦.it was too cruel.
Janet looked to Westin and lowered her voice, âWe canât let this go on. You need to make a decision quickly.â
ââ¦Yeah, you are right.â
Westin inhaled deeply and looked down at Agnes coldly, âHand over the poisonâs cure now. You have killed Keavy already. Donât make Elder Randy your second mistake.â
Agnes gritted, âNo⦠You will never get that cureâ¦Neverâ¦â
âThen I am striping the title of your son as well,â Westin said cruelly. âThink about it. When you die, your son will be a commoner living on the street, with no title, no family, and nobody to protect him-â
âNO!!â Agnes shrieked, tightening her arms around her child.
âMom! Mom!â the child burst into tears, âYou canât let them do that! I donât want to live on the street!â
Westinâs eyes gleamed coldly, âIt is your choice to make.â
Agnes cried, devastated. Her tears drenched Bryanâs jacket.
After a long pause, she whispered in a broken voice, âThe cureâ¦is in my
roomâ¦bottom drawer of my dresserâ¦â
Clemente let out a sigh of relief and hurried to get the cure and save Elder Randy.
Westin waved his hand, âTake Master Bryan away.â
Two soldiers closed up upon the mother and son and snatched Bryan from Agnesâs
arms.
âMy son-âAgnes screamed.
âMom!!â Bryan cried, kicking his tiny legs and starching the soldierâs face. âI hate you! I hate all of you! I will kill you one day! Go to hell! All of youââ
His voice disappeared into the distance.
Agnes sank to the floor. She looked as though she just lost her soul.
âI donât want to wait for the trail. I am making my decision about her right now, Westin said in a freezing voice, loud enough for everyone in the room to hear. âI think we can all agree that a simple death would be too easy for her.â
All the elders nodded in unison.
âThe water dungeon.â
Westin said with cruelty gleaming in his eyes, âShe will spend the rest of her life in the water dungeon, at the bottom level of this castle. She will be soaked in iceâcold water and be beaten by snakes and mice every single day. Let this endless torment be her punishment.â
âAgreed!â everyone cried.
The soldier yanked Agnes up, chained her, and shoved her out of the room.
Janet watched her out of sight.
The Lycanâs punishment was even harsher than she thought. Compared to living in endless torment, maybe a clean death could be more merciful.
But she didnât feel sorry for Agnes.
Agnes deserved this..
And if she didnât take down her enemy, she would be the one who suffered.
âYou are all dismissed,â Westin said in an exhausted voice. âI need a moment with my Queen.â
The elders bowed to them in silence and filed out of the room.
The hall was vacant soon.
Janet thought Westin was going to blame her for acting solo. She was ready for his scold.
Yet the next second, she was pulled into a pair of strong arms.
âWestin!â she was startled.
âStayâ¦â he murmured hoarsely, his voice shaking. âI am not doing anythingâ¦Just⦠let me hold you for a bit longerâ¦Pleaseâ¦â
She stopped struggling and stood there still. She could feel his quickened heart rate at this proximity.
âWhat should I doâ¦â he sighed by her ears.
âWhat?â
âI think I just love you even better, which I didnât think was possible⦠Janet, what should I do with this love?â
