Chapter 25
When the bell rang came to a rest, all soldiers from different packed had been summoned to the training field already.
There were at least 500 people.
figures.
The field was going to explode with hormones.
Standing at the front were Gammas from 5 largest packs in the world.
Those were Gamma Baron from Riverside Pack;
Gamma Glen from Silver Claw Pack;
Gamma Jeff from Black Water Pack;
Gamma Steven from Crimson Peak Pack;
And at last, Gamma Janet from Blood Moon Pack, who also happened to be the only person late to the gathering.
These 5 Gammas would be in charge of the united training starting today.
âWhere the hell is Janet now!â
Baron snapped and tabbed his index finger on his arm impatiently.
âThe bell stopped ringing like 5 minutes ago. Does she have any sense of punctuality
or not?â
Heard about his complaints, Glen let out a small chuckle, âWhatâs the rush here? Itâs only the first day of training. I think we should get off with an easy start.â
Glen was Alpha Jaredâs Gamma.
And like his Alpha, Glen possessed a pleasant, easyâgoing personality. He was tall and lanky, with long, black hair cascaded down his back.
Among these study men, Glen looked more like an artist, not warrior.
But those who had tried his fighting skill would probably disagree.
âAre we going to a picnic? Or are we going to train?â Baron snarled with a nasty tone. âIf sheâs in my pack, sheâd be kicked out by me already! count on them.â
Then he darted a contemptuous glare at Glen as well.
He didnât like this sissyâlooking man either.
Couldnât believe he was going to the battlefield with these losers.
menâ¦I know I canât
Just then, the gate to the training field opened again and a group of people walked in.
Walking at the front was Daran and Casper.
Behind their backâ¦was a woman.
500 peopleâs eyes were focused on this petite figure at this moment.
Janet was dressed in a tank top and a short skirt today. All her hair was put up in a high ponytail, which dangled joyfully in the air.
She looked fit, powerful, and healthy, radiating with the beauty of confidence.
An attractive sheâwolf just walked into the herd.
She naturally became the center of all attentions.
Glen blew a whistle while looking at Janet appreciatively, âWhat a goddess. I can just train with her every day.â
âOh yeah?â Baron gave him a sullen look, âHold on to that thought till you see nasty side of her in the wrestling ring.â
The smile on Glenâs face remained in place, âUnlike somebody, I donât get intimidated by strong women.â
Baronâs face suddenly became darker.
Casper, Daran and Janet had walked closer to them, and Baron immediately took this chance to vent his anger:
âGamma Janet, you are 10 minutes late already. What kind of emergency could you possibly have to make 500 people wait for you?â
Janet raised an eyebrow.
She reached into her pocket and pulled something out.
It was a silver brooch.
Janet had one on her chest, and so did all other Gammas, except for Baron.
âI went to fetch this for you, Gamma Baron.â
Janet stared at Baron, whose face was gradually turning red in awkwardness.
âAll Gammas are required to wear badges during the training. We made this clear in yesterdayâs meeting. But looked like you still forgot about yours.â
Baronâs face was flaming red.
He couldnât even lift a hand to take over the brooch in Janetâs hand!
Glen suddenly burst into loud laughter.
âWhat the hell are you laughing at!â Baron jerked around and barked.
âWhat everyone else is laughing at-â Glen chuckled, his shoulders shaking violently. â-You. Apparently.â
Baron quickly gazed over to other people.
That was right.
There were clear hints of smile on everyoneâs face.
All the Gammas, the two Alphas, even some soldiers in the front roll who had overheard everything.
They were all laughing at him!
âYou-â
âYouâve been nagging about Gamma Janet being late. But turns out sheâs been cleaning after your mess,â Glen shrugged with a smile. âYou have to laugh at the irony here.â
Baron burst into a loud howl. He wanted to hit Glen in the face with his iron fist, but Daran stopped him.
âThatâs enough,â Daran said giving Baron a cold look. âLetâs get to the business now.â
âSo the training will last for about 2-3 months. Weâve agreed to train our own soldiers separately from Monday to Friday, and all 5 packs will train in a large group during the weekends. Do we have questions about that?â
All Alphas shook their heads.
âWe have 5 training fields in Riverside Pack,â Daranâs Beta Jasper took over and said, âThe place we are currently at is the largest, equipped with the best facility. And there were a few smaller and less fancy fields. The problem now is-â
He looked around the group.
â-Who gets the best training field?â
There was a short silence.
Then Baron was the first to speak up, âOf course Riverside gets the best place! This is our pack, our place. You guys can only be here thanks to Alpha Daranâs generosity.â
Others didnât seem to agree.
âBut you invited us here,â Gamma Jeff rolled his eyes. âIs this how you treat your guest?â
âWithout the best training field, Iâd rather train my soldiers in my own pack,â Gamma Steven said deeply.
Janet clapped her hands and silenced all noises.
With all eyes on her, Janet looked at everyone with a smile, âClearly, we all want the best training field. To be absolutely fair, why donât we race for it?â
âRace?â Glen asked curiously, âHow?â
âWeâll pick a random project and compete against each other. The winner gets the best. Pretty fair, right?â Janet said, âThe competition can take place every week. So everybody will get a chance to use the best training field.â
âItâs a good idea,â Glen nodded with bright eyes.
Jeff and Steven were both on board.
Baron frowned and was about to say something. But Daran had spoken up before him:
âThen itâs settled then. Weâll compete. Itâs also a great way to test soldierâs ability.â
They eventually agreed upon a projectâHunting.
Hunting was a vital ability a werewolf should process.
This competition would last for an entire day.
Each pack would have a team of three, made up by its Gamma and two of its best soldiers.
These team would go deep into the back mountain and hunt. At the end of today, the team with most preys would win.
With this settled, all Gamma spread out to select their two soldiers
Janet picked Kass and Balvina.
Baron picked a large man named Bobbie and a tall female warrior named Maxie.
Glen, Jeff, and Steven had also selected their soldiers too.
âSo hereâs a map to the back mountain,â a man from Riverside Pack handed each team a piece of paper. âItâs only a general layout of the mountain. Youâll have to explore more details yourself. And here-â
He gave each team a gun.
ââis a signal gun. If you encounter danger, just point it at the sky and fire. Weâll send out a team to rescue you.â
Baron let out a snort, âPah, only weak puss will need this.â
He casually tossed the gun to his teammate Maxie.
âSo are we all clear about this?â Daran asked.
Everyone nodded.
All these eyes were gleaming with excitement.
âAlright then-â Jasper raised his voice and announced loudly. âTo the back mountain!â
All 500 people poured to the back mountain.
They all wanted to cheer for their own team and saw which pack was the ultimate winner.
Baron slowed down a few steps and grabbed the man who handed them the map.
âDid you do exactly as I said?â he asked the man with a threatening tone.
The man shivered in fear, âYâYes Gamma Baronâ¦I gave Blood Moon Pack the wrong map and itâll lead them directly to-â
âShh.â Baron shushed him.
Then a victory smile came onto his face.
He couldnât wait to see what would happen next.
