Chapter 28
â¦Died?
Daranâs mind went totally blank. His body froze as though an ice bucket was dumped on his head.
âShut your fucking mouth!â Casper roared.
He raised his arm and threw a punch at Baron, knocking two of Baronâs teeth out of
his mouth
âDonât you dare say that! Janet is not dead!â
Baron staggered to the side. His mouth was filled with blood as he mumbled, âDonât take it on me Alpha Casper! I didnât want it eitherâ¦â
âThen why didnât you go and help them!â Casper snapped, âYou still got one teammate left! With your help, Janet might not be-â
âBut I thought we were competitors.â Baron answered slyly, âIt was Janetâs idea to have this competition in the first place. It is not my duty to help my rivals.â
âYou-!â
âAnd since Gamma Janet could beat me in the wrestling field-â Baron shrugged, âI trust her to take down a few easy beasts?â
Casperâs face turned furious.
He was about to throw another punch at Baron when Daran abandoned them abruptly and rushed to the north.
Daranâs steps were still steady, but his heart was pounding wildly against his ribs.
He didnât believe that Janet was dead.
Just like he refused to believe that Janet was killed by the rogues 6 months ago.
His exâLuna was a strong, fierce woman.
She wouldnât be taken down by a few beasts.
Casper and other soldiers quickly caught up with him and together they headed towards the north.
Gradually, the rusty smell of blood grew stronger in the air.
5 minutes later, the group of them found themselves standing in front of a large
cave.
And everyone was astonished by the scene in front of them.
There must be more than 30 dead bodies of bears piled up on the ground, like a huge
mountain.
A brutal fight must have fought here not long agoâtrees were knocked down, the cave was half destroyed and blood was everywhere.
On the very top of this pile of dead bearâs bodies stood a beautiful, silver wolf.
Its fur took the shade of the silver moonlight and the texture of silk. Blood had tainted some part of its body, but it didnât lessen its divinely beauty at all.
The silver wolf had its teeth dug into the neck of the last breathing bear.
With a low howl, itâsnapped its head ripping off a piece of the bearâs flesh.
The bear twitched and dropped dead without a sound.
Nobody could believe their eyes.
â¦30 crazy bears.
All killed by Janet herself?!
Baron and his man Bobbie couldnât even handle one bear!
How did Janet manage 30?
Daran stared closely at the silver wolf as it elegantly jumped down from the pile of dead bears and then shifted back to human.
He was astonished by the dazzling beauty of this wolf.
He felt his own wolf crying urgently inside of him. His mouth turned dry, his heartrate quickenedâ¦
Daran wanted to come forward to help her.
But another person had beat him to it.
âJanet!â Casper rushed to her and held her in his arms, âWhat the fuckâ¦What are these ugly beasts?!â
âBearâs variant, with werewolf blood.â Janet closed her eyes exhaustedly and said, âSome said they came from roguesâ territoryâ¦I need a doctor now.â
âYes!â Casper nodded hastily, âYou need to see a doctor
âNo, not me.â Janet said.
She walked to the side and pushed a bush aside, revealing two people lying on the ground.
Balvina and Kass!
âThey injured themselves during the fight,â Janet said weakly. âTake them back and find a doctor. Quick!â
Kass had passed out already, but Balvina still had her eyes opened.
Having heard what Janet just said, Balvina struggled to pull herself up from the ground and insisted, âNo Iâm fineâ¦you guys help Gamma and Kassâ¦I can walk by myselfââ
âAre you crazy?â Casper talked over her.
His eyes had turned bloodshot when he saw the brutal wounds on Balvinaâs body.
Probably even Casper himself had not noticed how worried he sounded right now.
âYou are hurt!â he roared to Balvina, âItâs not time to play a fucking badass!â
âI can handle! Iâm a warrior! I-â Balvina protested.
Yet before she could finish, Casper had stridden forward and spooned her off the ground.
âYou are a wounded!â Casper said with a nasty tone, âNow shut your mouth and stay put.â
Balvinaâs face turned flaming red in Casper arms. She didnât say anything else and lapsed into silence.
Blood Moon Packâs soldiers came to lift Kassâs body as well. ʼ
âWhat about you?â Casper turned to ask Janet before they left. âYou are injured as well.â
âYou guys go on,â Janet said. âIâll catch up later.â
Casper nodded and led his men into the forest and left.
Janet finally turned her gaze back to Daran, her eyes freezingly cold.
âWhat do you want to say to me?â Daran frowned, an irritated feeling at his heart. âLetâs go back and treat your wounds first. We can deal the rest later-â
âNot so fast,â Janet said icily. âWhere is Baron?â
Baron was in the crowd as well.
Heard about her question, Baron hesitantly stepped forward, ââ¦What do
you want?â
