Chapter 7
By the next day, everybody had heard about what happened by the staircase the previous night.
At least 20 people must have participated in that crazy jewel fight.
By the time Riverside Packâs members pulled Harper out of the crowd, her clothes had been ripped apart in the riot; her high heels were nowhere to be found; her hair was messy like a nest.
It was such a huge embarrassment.
Today was the first official day of the annual pack meeting.
When Alpha Daran entered the meeting room with his pack members, the room immediately quieted down from low mutterings. He also received quite a few meaningful glances from other people.
Apparently, people had been talking about the incident last night.
Yet nobody dared make fun of Daran in front of his face.
Riverside Pack was the third largest pack in the world. Challenging Alpha Daran in public would be seeking suicide.
Daran sat down by the table and rubbed his temple.
Harper made a big fuss when they came back to their room last night.
She first burst into tears and cried that Janet was deliberately trying to hurt her. She begged Daran to hold Janet accountable for her crime.
When Daran pointed out that this was BloodMoon Pack and they couldnât affo
Casper here, Harper became even more hysterical.
She collapsed on the floor and claimed that she was having a heart attack.
Daran was starting to grow tired of her.
Weirdly he didnât used to find Harper this annoying when Janet was still around.
to cross Janet and Alpha
Yet ever since Janet disappeared after that kidnap, Janet had become more and more ridiculous.
She often used her disease as an excuse to get Daran out of his pack business and check on her.
She claimed to be his girlfriend without his permission.
Harper had crossed so many lines.
Originally, Daran thought it wouldnât be a bad idea to name Harper his future Luna.
He didnât have many feelings for her. But his mother liked Harper very much and most people in Riverside Pack adored her.
He believed that at least Harper would make a better Luna than Janet.
But nowâ¦
A cold gleam flickered through Daranâs eyes.
He believed that his plan would have to change now.
The meeting roomâs door flew open at this moment, interrupting Daranâs line of thinking.
Alpha Casper marched into the meeting room followed by a group of people.
Daran suddenly widened his eyes.
He saw Janet traveling right behind Casper!
What was this woman doing her?
This was supposed to be an official meeting held exclusively for Alphas and officials!
Everybody in the room was stunned to see Janet.
Yet Janet reacted very calmly.
She followed Casper and sat down right next to him as though she didnât notice the suspicious look on peopleâs faces.
â¦Excuse me? What the hell was this?â
Daranâs Gamma Baron voiced out everyoneâs doubts at this moment:
âThis is an exclusive meeting! What is this woman doing here?â
He pointed at Janet and snapped:
âJust because she is Alpha Casperâs bimbo, she doesnât have the right to be here!â
People stared at Janet. Some nodded along.
Alpha Casper raised an eyebrow, ââ¦my bimbo?â
Baron had always been hotâtempered. Only he dared challenge Casper when nobody else could.
âWell, excuse my language, but we all get the drill!â Baron barked, his loud voice echoing across the room. âYou canât give her any privileges just because you are banging her. What we discuss in this room is top secret! What if she leaks it later?â
A few people gasped at his audacity.
Casperâs Beta Eden slammed the desk and glared at Baron furiously:
âHow dare you!â Eden hissed, âDisrespecting our Alpha like that-â
Baron snorted, âItâs your Alpha. Not mine.â
âYou son of a-â
âThatâs enough,â Daran spoke up coldly.
He turned to Casper and said with a freezing tone, âPlease excuse Baronâs attitude. But he has a point. Only officers are allowed in this room. You should ask Janet to leave.â
A very irritated feeling seized Daranâs heart.
He could see that Casper spoiled Janet.
Is it why Janet chose to be with him right now?
ââ¦Officers?â
There was a crooked smile on Casperâs face.
âYou probably got something wrong butâ¦â he turned to Janet smiling, ââ¦Janet is my officer.â
People all seemed astonished.
Eden stood up at this movement and placed a hand on the back of Janetâs chair.
âThis is our Gamma Janet from BloodMoon Pack!â he announced loudly.
â¦Gamma?!
Everyone in the room took a collective intake of breath!
A woman as Gamma?
And on top of that, a beautiful yet weak woman?
Was BloodMoon Pack crazy?!
âAre you all out of your mind?!â Baron widened his eyes in disbelief. âThis woman is no Gamma material. I know her. She was our Alphaâs Luna!â
People were all shocked by the abrupt turn of events.
What did they just hear?
Janet, Alpha Casperâs lover/Garnma, used to be Alpha Daranâs Luna?!
How unbelievable was that!
There was an aloof look on Janetâs face.
She slightly lifted the comer of her lip and said, âDonât be ridiculous. Iâve never met your Alpha in my entire life.â
Casper echoed with her, âIndeed. Janet has always been a member of the Blood Moon Pack. She doesnât have anything to do with your Alpha.â
Daranâs face turned dark.
His fists were clenched beneath the table.
Janet denied their past relationship.
Did she hate him this much?
âEven so! Iâm not going to the battlefield with her!â
Baron cried furiously under his breath:
âWe are supposed to discuss how to defeat rogues in this yearâs meeting! We need strong and capable warriors! How can a woman like her last a single second on the battlefield? I saw her beaten by her brother many times before! She was so f*cking weak!â
He paused and let out a cold sneer.
âJust because she rocked in bed didnât mean she could conquer the battlefield as well!â
A round of mutterings broke out in the room.
People started to whisper among themselves.
Baron made a fair point.
Rogueâs problem was getting very serious over the
years.
This year, under BloodMoon Packâs leadership, Alpha had finally gathered to address this issue. They planned to form an army together to defeat the rogues.
But how could people trust BloodMoon Pack anymore if Casper appointed a pretty girl as Gamma?
Right at this moment, Janet slowly rose from her seat.
Crossing arms in front of her chest, Janet stared at Baron with a calm smile:
âYou are questioning my ability?
Baron puffed his chest, âYes! So what?â
âFair enough.â
Janet raised her arm and pointed at the training field outside:
â-Letâs take this outside and Iâll show you what I can do.â
