Chapter 604 No Longer Matters Dexter enjoyed hearing the words âmy husband.
He extended his hand. âHello, Nancy.â
Nancyâs gaze became very thoughtful as she looked closely at the two. âWhat a perfect couple you are, Mr. and Mrs. Russell. Youâre the envy of everyone as you stroll on the school grounds together.â
Nancy had found out earlier that Josie was married, but she didnât know who Josieâs husband was.
Now, she had found out through the trending searches, but it was different to see them personally.
Dexter had at more imposing demeanor than in the pictures.
Josie was joyful, but her heart was suspended mid-air, and her smile was unnatural. âNancy, when did yout return to Wavery? Letâs go out for a meal. My treat.â
âYour treat? Wonât you join us, Mr. Russell?â
Dexter nodded. âSince youâre Joâs friend, Iâll naturally join if invited.â
Nancy raised her brows and smiled sweetly at Josie. Nancy was hinting, what a great honor.
âI came back yesterday. I wanted to look for you but thought you would be busy, so I didnât disturb you.â
Josie frowned. âHow can that be?â
Dexter released Josieâs hand and stepped to the side a little. âGo ahead. Iâll wait for you in the car.â
Josie didnât answer, and Nancy hugged her arm. âArenât you afraid Iâll take your wife away, Mr.
Russell?â
Dexter smiled lightly. âSheâll return on her own.â
There was absolute trust in his expression.
Josie looked away after the man got into the car, and Nancy finally showed signs of nervousness.
âDoes he really treat you well?â
Josie was exasperated. âWhy does everyone like to ask me this?â
The two slowly walked side by side at the lakeside. Nancy said, âI didnât come alone today.â
Josieâs footsteps froze slightly. As they looked at each other, Josie understood what Nancy meant.
âHeâs here today. Do you want to see him?â
The two had gotten to know each other because of Morgan. Nancy was his ex-girlfriend. After Morgan went overseas, he lost contact with everyone in the country. Meanwhile, the two women got closer.
Josie looked away. âIâve seen him. Thereâs no need to meet again.
âIâm over it, but I donât know how you feel.â
Josie was frustrated. âDo I look like Iâm still not over him? Iâve already moved on when he decided to leave me.â
Nancy furrowed her brows. âBut from what I know, Morganâs mother came looking for you back then.
You broke up partly because of her intervention.â
âIf two people love each other, do these obstacles even matter? I can only say certain people werenât determined enough.â
âWhat ifâ¦. he had his reasons at the time?â
Josie looked at her and answered thoughtfully, âNancy, all this no longer matters.â
Nancy was dumbstruck.
When Josie returned to the car, Dexter was working on his laptop. He held her hands. âAre you cold?â
Josieâs heart was suspended in mid-air. It only relaxed when she saw him. She shook her head. âAre we returning to Mason Garden?â
âI just received news that I must attend a meeting at Russell Group. Should I ask Moses to send you home?â
Josie shook her head. âNo need. Iâll come with you.â
Dexterâs lips curved. âAlright.â
He handed her a stack of information. âWe still have fifteen minutes. Look at as much information as you can. Just get a rough idea of it.â
Josie flipped through it casually. The papers were densely filled with numbers. Even reading them would be tough, let alone getting a rough idea.
âAm I attending too?â
Dexter had received a few calls from Larry on his cell phone.
âWhat do you think about being my assistant?â He raised his brows.
âHuh?â
