Chapter 589 Do What You Wish Ning Ranâs method worked. Nan Chen couldnât manage any response. He had always been a quiet person, so he wasnât good at quarreling. He couldnât come up with a retort if Ning Ran chewed him out.
All he could do was simply stared at her as though he was trying to see through her. Ning Ran huffed, then pointed at the red print on her face. âLook at this. This was Ouyang Qingâs doing. Do you see the swollen handprint? Do you think I can stay calm when someone gets rough with me?â
Nan Chen shifted his gaze to the red marks on her face. Coldness filled his eyes at the sight. âI wonât let this matter slide so easily, but you have to tell me the relationship between you and Ouyang Qi,â
Nan Chen said.
âYouâre doing it again! Someone slapped me but did you care about that? No, you didnât. All you cared about was my relationship with others. Iâm done talking with you!â
Ning Ran walked away from him to the side to use her phone.
Nan Chen got a feeling that Ning Ran was hiding something from him, but he didnât know what it was.
Resentment filled him, yet he was helpless, unable to do anything about it. He couldnât actually use any interrogation method on her.
âSince we were done with the household registration, Grandpa had arranged for his lawyer to transfer the shares. Before the kids are legal adults, youâll be handling the commission from their shares,â Nan Chen informed.
âIs that a lot of money?â Ning Ran asked excitedly.
âNot too much, just tens of millions,â Nan Chen replied nonchalantly.
Ning Ran almost spit out the water she had just drunk. How many zeros are there in ten million?
âI donât use that much money,â Ning Ran added.
âI said you can manage it, not spend it. My advice is to let a third party handle the commissions. The money is nothing but paper in your hands.
âIf thereâs a need, you can withdraw some of it, but Iâm warning you. This money is for the kidsâ
education funds and other uses. You canât use them for your own purposes.â
Ning Ran was infuriated at his accusation. âYouâre scared of me coveting the Nan familyâs money? I have never said I would manage the kidsâ shares, so why are you telling me this? I raised the kids for five years without the Nan familyâs help, and theyâre fine, arenât they? Do you think I need somebody elseâs money to raise my own kids?â
Her biting remark rendered Nan Chen speechless.
âThat was not what I meant, I was justâ¦â
Nan Chen didnât know how to explain it to her, but it definitely wasnât about Ning Ran coveting the money.
He was trying to tell her there was no need to use the commissions for the kidsâ daily necessities. He would be paying for it as their father.
If she let a professional party handle the large sum of money, she would get more money.
On the other hand, the money would only end up being deposited in the bank, gaining an immaterial interest if it was left in her hands. It would be a waste.
Nan Chen was also worried about the investment scams going around lately. He feared she would be tricked into making a failing investment since she was new to the stock market. The money wouldnât be the only loss, he would be humiliated as well.
Nan Chen didnât have a way of telling all those to Ning Ran, hence the misunderstanding.
Ning Ranâs ruthless rebuttal left him speechless.
âI get it. Donât worry. I wonât touch that money.â
Ning Ran knew her words were too ruthless earlier, so she tried to backpedal it.
âIâm not worried about you touching that money. I was trying to tell you that I would be paying for the kidsâ daily expenses.
âIf you need a large sum of money, you can inform me earlier. However, itâs best to leave the shareâs commission to a professional organization to handle. Their value will increase when the kids grow up.
âIf Nanshi Corporation can continue its development, the stockâs value will increase tremendously in a decade or so. We can give it to them as a coming-of-age present by then. Thatâll be more meaningful.â
Ning Ran was embarrassed about her biting remarks earlier after Nan Chen explained.
âOuyang Qi didnât tell me anything else. He told me Ouyang Duo was not a good person. Ouyang Duo asked him to target you, so he wanted us to be more careful. That was it.â
Nan Chen knew Ning Ran didnât tell him the whole truth, but he knew he wouldnât be getting it from her.
So he decided to drop it.
âAll right.â
Meanwhile, Nan Xing was playing a video game when he got a call from Bai Hua requesting to pick her up from the mall.
After Bai Hua split up from Ouyang Qing, she thought it would be boring to stay at home, so she went shopping at the nearby malls.
When she first got back from overseas, she didnât dare to leave the house much because Nan Zhengde had forbidden her from sauntering around. He didnât want anyone to know she had returned.
After that, she realized that her worries were unnecessary. Time had passed, and she was no longer the infamous Madam Nan of Flower City.
Many had forgotten about her. There were many incidents when she showed up in the public, but no one seemed to recognize her. That was when she realized the city had forgotten about her.
Hence, she was free now. She didnât have to stay at home all the time, worrying about others recognizing her.
Nan Xing soon arrived and helped Bai Hua with all her shopping bags.
âMom, why did you buy so much stuff? You can ask us to go in your stead if you need anything. Youâre not feeling well right now, so quit running around. Grandpa is not happy about you running around the city,â Nan Xing complained.
âEven youâre telling me what to do. Do I have no say in anything? Thereâs nothing wrong with me going shopping. Do I not even have that right? I was bored and just wanted to get some fresh air, and I couldnât even do that? Your grandpa wonât like me anyway, so I donât care about his opinion. He wonât be alive for long anyway,â Bai Hua said cruelly.
âMom, how can you say that about Grandpa?â Nan Xing couldnât listen to it anymore. âThat was because you and Dad were in the wrong, so Grandpa had to look out for you guys.â
âWhat do you even know? Heâs biased! I might not even use all the stuff that I bought. I was just spending money because I was bored. I can always throw it away if I donât need it!â Bai Hua refuted angrily.
âAll right! All right. You do whatever makes you happy. Itâs fine, buy whatever you want.â Nan Xing didnât want to piss her off anymore.
âThereâs something you should tell your brother. His actress was flirting with some guy again. I saw her getting in Ouyang Qiâs car.
âIs your brother blind or something? Why is he letting that girl do anything she wants? Couldnât he see that actress just wanted his money? Why is he still involved with her?
âIsnât it humiliating for him that his woman was always hanging out with that boy from the Ouyang family? You have to tell him about this! I know he wonât listen to me, so you have to be the one to tell it to him.â
That was one of the reasons Bai Hua asked Nan Xing to pick her up.
Nan Xing truly disliked her words.
He thought they were too harsh and didnât like listening to them. Every word out of her mouth was aggressive.
âMom, stop badmouthing Ning Ran. Sheâs not the person you say she is. Being an actress is a legitimate occupation. She worked for the food on her table and that wasnât anything bad at all. You didnât have to badmouth the entire industry.â
