Ciara Mendes

I must admit that even though I've already met Giovanni's parents I was quite nervous to see them again. This time instead of being introduce as the Journalist from Flare who was sent to interview their last son I would be introduce as the girlfriend of their second son.

"There's no need to feel nervous buttercup, my mother is elated to see you again. Turns out you won her heart that day when you first met her." He place a kiss on top of my head and I snuggle into his side.

We were currently on his private plane unfortunately his cousin Divya was replaced by another flight attendant. Giovanni mentioned that she was touring Europe with her boyfriend. He said the word like it was some sort of disease, even though Divya was nineteen it didn't sit well with him that she now had a boyfriend.

"What about your father?"

He was silent for a few seconds which made me look up at him. "My father isn't the easiest man to please but you don't have to worry about him, it doesn't matter if he likes you or not. I love you and that's all that matters."

I couldn't stop the smile from appearing on my face but since I was scared of saying it back I left it at that.

Two hours later we were standing at the front door of the Haynes Mansion, before Giovanni had the chance to ring the doorbell the door was yanked open and I was pull into a tight hug.

"I'm so happy to see you again sweetheart, especially now since you're my daughter in law," Mrs Haynes pulled away cupping my cheeks. "Still so beautiful."

"Thank you Mrs Haynes and it's lovely seeing you as well."

Giovanni clears his throat from behind us, "Did you forget about me?"

His mom look over my shoulder at him before taking my hand. "Shush Gio, I'm still mad at you. Come on inside sweetheart and it's Martha."

Martha pull me inside and I smile over my shoulder at Giovanni as he follow behind us.

"Look who's here!" Martha yell bringing my attention away from Giovanni.

We entered the living room where three adults were sitting. A woman who I'm assuming is Giovanni's sister in law Ashira stand walking towards us. She look like the older version of her daughter.

"Hello Ciara, I've been waiting so long to meet you." She surprise me by pulling me in a hug fortunately it was one much softer than the one I receive earlier.

Bentley then came forward with his hand held out. "Bentley Haynes nice to finally meet you."

"Always so formal." Giovanni says coming up behind me. "And that my sweet buttercup is my dear father, Hakeem Haynes."

Mr Haynes took a few steps forward, his eyes studying me. He shook my hand like his son did.  "For your sake, I hope this relationship last. Everything good gets destroyed in the hands of my son." He says before let going of my hand.

"Don't start now Hakeem." Martha says as I felt Giovanni get tense behind me.

"It's nothing but the truth Martha, first he ruined his relationship with Jasmine, then he refuse to take over the company now he finds a woman who see's past his flaws, and what did he do? Get another w—."

Martha sighs, "Hakeem that's enough! Ciara why don't you and Giovanni go outside and relax by the pool I'll call you both when dinner is ready."

I look at Giovanni, his face held no expression as he look at his father. I took hold of his hand, slightly tugging on it. "Come on."

He hesitate for a bit before nodding and leading me in the direction of the outside pool.

As soon as we got there he went to lay on one of the big beach chairs pulling me next to him. He was quiet for quite sometime. "Are you okay?" I ask even though it was a stupid question. He wasn't okay, clearly he was upset by his father words.

"He's right. You're too good for me and everything good I destroy."

"I don't believe that to be true, how can I be too good for you when I'm also human. I'm not perfect Giovanni and you shouldn't let what your father say cloud your judgements." I pause thinking back on what his father said. "As for Jasmine I don't understand how he can blame you for her cheating on you."

"He loved her like a daughter but since I wasn't good enough for him he blamed me for not being good enough to her, said that was the reason she searched for love somewhere else."

"I don't mean to sound disrespectful but that's a load of crap."

He chuckle hugging me closer. "That's what I thought, and yes you are human but you're a much better one than I am."

Giovanni Haynes

I glare at the pathetic man sitting across from me wondering why Ciara decided to forgive him. I wonder what she are her sister even see in him. Well Ciara mostly since I'm still sticking to the thought that Bridget was only after his money. She did prove that she is not a vile woman but she is still not in my good book. Ciara believed otherwise saying that they had been together way before she even met him and they love each other. I just couldn't believe it even though this was my second time seeing them together.

"You should know I'm not trying to steal Ciara from you." He says with a smug look.

I grin, he really was pathetic. "Like I'd allow it, what makes you think she'd even want to go back to you. Ciara is not the kind of woman who downgrades."

I glance in the direction they went a few minutes ago. We were having dinner in what I learned was Bridget's favourite restaurant, I frown at the thought of her. Why couldn't she go to the restroom by herself, why couldn't she leave my girlfriend with me instead of the piece of sh¡t?

"Then why are you looking at me like you would put a bullet through my head?"

I turn my attention back to him, with a smirk I said. "Come on Dorkus I know you're not that slow."

"Funny." He says unamused. The man look nothing like the cartoon character, but according to Zendra that's what he look like. "I know I hurt her and I'm sorry for what I did but you should be thanking me."

"Thanking you for sleeping with her big sister, someone she look up to?" I glare at him.

"When you put it that way it does sounds horrible... But come on, Ciara never loved me, she wasn't even happy." He lean forward in his chair. "If she didn't find out about— you know, she wouldn't have been with you now and I can tell that with you she's happy and by the look you've been giving me you do love her genuinely."

So the man was not a complete idiot then. "I do and now that she agreed to be friends with you I won't give you the slightest chance to do something that will hurt her again."

He seem unfazed. "Is that all?"

I thought about it. "As a matter of fact there is this one other thing. Alaric happens to be a friend an older person I respect and although Zendra has him to protect her if you so much as make her cry I'll make sure you drink your own pesticides."

I know far a fact that Zendra wasn't fund of him. I had watched her cry in her aunt arms telling her how a man with weird hair had stole her mommy from her. "Mark my words Roberts."

He stared at me with wide eyes. He was such a coward, I had a reputation to uphold and a woman to love and care for I wasn't going to actually murder the bastard.

"Everything alright here?" Ciara ask as she slide in the chair next to me.

I look at her a smile replacing my cold features that were directed at Fisher. "Of course buttercup just reminding Fisher boy here to tread carefully."

Both woman gave confuse looks but said nothing.
