- Parker's POV -
I dropped to the ground as I felt an excruciating pain fill my body. The rouge I was previously fighting started to approach me but I couldn't get back up, the pain was too much. Then suddenly Ryan's stepped in front of me, grabbed the rouge by its neck and flung it against a tree.
"Hey man are you ok?" Ryan looked down at me but I just shook my head. Something was wrong with Avery. Since I didn't shift, I was still in my human form and Ryan stretched out his arm so he can pull me up. I grunted as I felt half my body start to get weaker, and weaker.
"Ryan, I think Avery's hurt" I whispered and tried to minklink Meg.
'Meg, where's Avery?' I asked through the mindlink
'I don't know, she was with me and then she took off. I think she went to find Mickey' she replied only a few seconds later. Then I decided to mindlink Avery.
'Avery, can you hear me? Are you ok? Where are you?'
No answer.
"Parker! Jenna just midlinked me. She said that she was unconscious and she just woke up to find the guy that kidnapped her and Avery standing over Avery's non responding wolf. She also said, one rouge is holding Mickey and another rouge is holding her captive." Ryan yelled and I gritted my teeth. I swear I'm going to kill that motherfucker. Avery better be ok.
"Ask her where the fuck they are now!" I roared and I could feel my wolf taking over
"The garden" Ryan answered
"Fucking ass garden" I muttered as I transformed into my black wolf and started running towards the garden
- Avery's POV -
I couldn't hear or see anything. Is this what death feels like?
"Avery, darling. Open your eyes" a sweet melodious voice called and suddenly instead of seeing all black, I saw white.
"Hello?" I said but it felt like my voice was far away. I looked down and saw that I was standing, and that I was in my human form. When did this happen? I can't even feel my body.
"Hello Avery" a voice says and with a sudden gust of wind there was a woman standing in front of me. From what I could see, she had beautiful silver colored hair and an elegant long white dress on. I couldn't see her face because it was covered by a veil of some sort.
"Who are you?" I asked and she let out a small light laugh
"Well, who do you think I am?" She asked and I frowned
"Are you the moon goodness? Am I dead?" I replied started to getting scared. I don't want to die yet.
"Avery, you are...let's say, half dead" she said solemnly and I start to breathe faster
"Every being that I grant magical powers to, will go through this stage before death. This is when I strip you from all your magic and send it down back to Earth so that another person may get it" she explains and I start to hyperventilate
"Please don't! I don't want to die, please" I beg and she shook her head
"You didn't let me finish" she says and I swallow nervously
"Before I do that, I have to decide on whether I should strip you of your powers or send you back down to earth. And all of this depends on the way you died. Did you die for a good reason, etc" she said and I nod
"Ok, so, you died trying to protect a little boy and your friend instead of trying to protect yourself. I think that is a very good reason to let you live. Don't you think?"
"Um yes?" I said nervously and she chuckled again
"You're quite funny. Until I see you again, Avery. I believe you still have much more to do in your life" she answered before she waved her hand and I was back to seeing and hearing nothing. Absolutely nothing.
- Parker's POV -
"Please. Wake up. I can't live without you" I cried as I stroked Avery's soft fur. Ryan, Meg and I reached the garden a couple minutes ago. The Silver Blood pack came and they were handling the rogues well. Ryan and Meg were fighting off the two rogues that were holding Jenna and Mickey captive while I was crying for my mate.
She wasn't breathing but I hoped with some miracle she would come back to me. If she was dead, I would've feel a pain so unbelievable that I would be unconscious right now, so I know she's not dead. But then again, she's not breathing so I really don't know.
The son of a bitch that did this was laying against a tree, unconscious. We found out that Mickey used his powers to slam him against a tree just when he was about to rip Avery's throat. I wanted to go over there so badly and rip his head off but, I wanted to stay with my mate even more. I rest my head against her wolf's head and lay my arm around her wolf as I started to sob.
"Please, I love you. Wake up. Oh! Moon goddess if you can hear me, please bring my mate back to me. Take me instead if you want" I sobbed and I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up in surprise, only to see Ryan there.
"How is she?" he asks sadly
"She's not breathing" I sniffed and soon enough Meg started crying
"She'll walk up she has too." Jenna reassured me and I nodded. She has to.
"Is that Avie?" A small voice asked as Mickey stepped forwards
"Um, yes it is" I tried to force a smile as he sat down next to me and touched Avery's wolf sadly
"She saved me and Jenny" he said his voice trembling
"Yeah, she did" I smiled and pulled him closer as he started to cry
"Is she gonna wake up, Parkey?" he sobbed
"I hope" I whispered and looked over at Avery's wolf. It's chest was moving up and down. She was breathing! Holy shit!
"Guys, are you seeing this or am I going crazy?" I said staring at Avery's wolf
"Nope I'm seeing it too" Jenna said shocked
"Me too" Meg replied wiping her tears
"Uh huh" Ryan added
"Avie!" Mickey jumped out of my arms and hugged Avery's wolf. We all started at the wolf awestruck and a few minutes later, Avery's wolf began opening its eyes
"Someone get her some clothes" Ryan yelled and Jenna took off and came back minutes later with basketball shorts and a tshirt.
"Babe, can you shift?" I asked quietly as she tried to stand up on legs. She moved her head slowly and I led her behind a bush. She shifted slower than usual and I handed her the clothes. Then, I helped her walk towards the others.
"Avery, are you ok?"
"How do you feel?"
"What the hell happened?"
"Don't do that again"
"Avie! You're ok!" Mickey ran over to Avery and since Avery couldn't lift Mickey up right now, she slowly sat down on the ground. He sat down next to her.
"I feel weak, but at least I'm alive. I was trying to keep the force fields around Mickey and Jenna but it made me so weak, so I couldn't fight Alex. Are you ok Mickey?" Avery explained and then looked at Mickey who was smiling widely
"I am now that you're back" he grinned before throwing his arms around her and she laughed before hugging him back. I thought I would never be able to hear that beautiful voice or laugh ever again. I just stared at her as she continued to smile and talk with Mickey.
"Um, what are you gonna do about him" Ryan suddenly whispered in my ear. He was talking about the motherfucker that almost killed my mate.
"You can take him to the cells. Torture him however you want and then be my guest to kill him" I said darkly and he nodded
"Ok" He said and then he looked like he was in mindlink with someone. Probably telling a member of his pack to take Alex to the torture cells. When he was done, I looked at him and gestured him near me.
"I've been meaning to talk to you about something" I said and he nodded
"Since your the future Alpha of this pack and I'm the future Alpha of the Silver Blood pack. I wanted to know how you would feel about combining the two." I explained because I just realized that if you want to do something, you have to do it now, because we won't be here forever.
"I've been waiting for you to say this" he said
"What do you mean?" I asked
"Ever since I had that talk with Avery. She told me she wanted the best of both worlds and I told her she can have it. This is what I had in mind, I was just waiting for you to see it" he replied and I smirked
"You're a smartass dick" I chuckled
"I know" he replied laughing
"So is this really gonna happen?"
"Yes, it is. We'll make it happen" Ryan smiled and we shook each other's hands.
All that mattered was that my mate is alive, and now I'm going to do something that'll make everyone's lives easier. The only problem remaining is how I am going to answer everyone in my old pack who asks me 'you're sister is your mate?' But that's a minor problem compared to all the other ones we've faced.
As long as I have Avery by my side, I'll survive.
