Chapter 7: Chapter 7: A New Girl

“Do you have your toothpaste?” my mom asked

“Yes” I said annoyed with her frequent questions

“Clean pairs of underwear?” she acquired

“Yes mom” I gritted out

“Well do you have-” whatever my mom was about to say got cut off when Parker interrupted her

“Mom, I’m sure she has everything. Now can we go?” Parker pleaded. He had been standing there for the last 10 minutes watching my mom, or should I say his mom question me non stop.

“Alright fine. But only after breakfast!” she grinned and I groaned. I just wanted to get going, I was so excited. I looked down at my watch. 10:37 a.m…..THAT MEANS WE ONLY HAVE 10 MINUTES UNTIL PARKER AND I HAD TO PICK UP MY FRIENDS!

“Mom, we really shouldn't. We gotta get going” Parker said, reading my mind

“No. I’m already allowing your guys to spend your whole break from school without me, so the least we can do is have breakfast together.” she said sternly. Our school break was only a month and a half. I had the urge to roll my eyes, but I kept it in. Unfortunately, Parker did not.

“YOUNG MAN! DID YOU JUST ROLL YOUR EYES AT ME!” my mom exclaimed and Parker’s eyes widened

“N-no” Parker gulped

“Good” my mom said and started her walk to the kitchen. Parker and I trailed behind her like lost puppies.

“Ok today I’ll let you off the hook. Nothing dreadful, only a bagel” she said and Parker and I sighed in relief. We took a seat at the table and my mom placed a plate which held a bagel with cream cheese spread on it. I closely inspected the bagel as if it were an alien. Parker just shrugged and took a huge bite. Not even 5 seconds later he started yelling.

“What’s wrong?” mom asked innocently. Parker was breathing heavily and ran to the fridge where he took out a water bottle and started drinking it. After he was done drinking 2 bottles he took a deep breath.

“WHAT WAS IN THAT BAGEL?!” he yelled at my mom, wide eyed

“Oh! It was this new cream cheese, flavored wasabi. Then I decided to put some peppers on it for an extra zing!” my mom grinned

“What the hell?” I asked and pushed the plate away from me.

“That's it, we are leaving now” Parker stated and my mom frowned

“Aw! Already?!” she exclaimed sadly and I nodded

“Yes, already” I said with narrowed eyes and she hugged Parker and I

“Love you guys see you soon!” she yelled and we said the same back to her

“Wait wheres dad?” I questioned before leaving

“Pack business” she vaguely answered

“Oh ok” I said, kissed her on the cheek and made my way to a waiting Parker

“Lets go!” I cheered and hopped in, Parker following shortly after

“Not until you kiss me” Parker demanded and I smirked

“Sure” I shrugged and Parker looked at me in surprise. I leaned over and pecked him on the cheek awaking the sparks.

“Now drive” I said crossing my arms and leaning back into my seat. Parker looked at me dumbfounded and I pointed towards the road. He slowly looked away and started driving.

“I broke up with Lindsay by the way” Parker said out of the blue when we started approaching Meghan and Maddison’s house.

“Really? That's...cool” I drawled and he sighed

“Ok then” he breathed as he stopped in front of the cream house with a dark red roof.

“HELLO!” Madds and Meg yelled as they got into the Lexus SUV that we were borrowing from my dad.

“Hey” Parker said

“Hi!” I greeted

“TO HUNTER’S” Meg said and we took off. About 5 minutes later we came to a stop in front of a white house with a dark green roof. Hunter came out of his house with 2 suitcases and 2 duffel bags.

“Geez, you brought more than me!” I exclaimed

“Yeah, you pack like a girl” Meg said as Hunter tried to fit all his bags in the back.

“Shut up. I need all my hair products.” Hunter tried to defend himself causing Parker to mutter incoherent words under his breath while shaking his head. Our last stop was to Scar and Nate’s house. Their house was a ivory color with a blue roof. Interesting. They practically ran out of the house when Parker honked. They told their parents they were going to a cabin with some friends.

“Someones excited” Madds said

“Well, we are going to another werewolf pack!” Nate said and could barely sit still in his seat.

“Yes, this is pretty exciting compared to my boring life” Scar grinned and Hunter smiled widely at her

“Good” Hunter nodded and I rolled my eyes

“Good?” Scarlett asked confused

“I make your life exciting” Hunter smirked

“Did I say you did? You all make my life exciting” she fiercely said and I leaned back to high five her

“Women deny everything” Parker said out loud and I hit the back of his head

“Facts” Hunter agreed and Scarlett pinched him

“Are you trying to cause an accident?!” Parker yelled and I rolled my eyes

“Stop being so dramatic” I scoffed and looked out the window.

“How much longer?” Nate whined and Madds looked outside then picked up Meg’s wrist and checked her watch

“We’re almost there. Right, Avery?” Madds inquired and I nodded

“Yeah” I said since they couldn't really see me

“Ok” Nate said

“Are you excited?” Meg asked me

“Uh, I don't know” I said

“You don't know” she said flatly

“Yeah” I shrugged

“Are you nervous?” Parker said and glanced at me before looking back at the road

“A little” I said softly and I felt someone place their hand on mine. This sent shocks up my hand and my arm was covered in goosebumps. I looked over at Parker and he gave me a small smile.

“You’ll be fine” he smiled and I grinned

“If you say so” I laughed breathlessly. Soon the car started to slow down so I looked out of my window. I guess humans didn't live around here, since they had the classic pack house where everyone lived. In my pack there were some humans so we had separate houses, instead of a pack house.

“We’re here!” Nate cheered and pushed Madds out of the way so he could get out of the car

“Hey!” Madds yelled when Nate shoved her

“Opps, sorry” Nate shrugged and Madds rolled her eyes. Everyone slowly got out of the car and looked around. Their pack house was in the middle of no where and it was right by the forest. The forest was very majestic and beautiful, the trees were tall and the leaves were a vibrant green.

“So are we just gonna stand here or…?” Parker said and dragged me out of my thoughts.

“No, were gonna go to the door” I said and didn't move

“So are you gonna go or….” Scar trailed

“I’m going, I’m going!” I said and took a deep breath. I’m going. I’m going to see my birth parents, meet my real pack, total strangers. Oh, god what am I doing?!

“Yeah….I’m going back home” I said turning around to go to the car

“No. You're not.” Parker said and grabbed me.

“LET GO OF ME! I WANT TO GO HOME!” I yelled at him, hitting his hands that were around my waist.

“Stop it. You're gonna go in, and you're gonna like it” Hunter scolded me and I frowned

“I’m not doing anything” I said defiantly looking away

“Uh, what’s going on here?” a new voice questioned and all of our head whipped towards the door, where a girl about our age was standing. She was the innocent kind of beautiful, with her dark brown hair and blue eyes. We all froze and she looked around at all of us, but her eyes stopped at Nate. Her eyebrows furrowed as she sniffed the air and looked at Nate. The slowly she made her way towards Nate who was just staring at her wide eyed. She walked up to him and sniffed around him.

“Uh, excuse me? Why are you sniffing my brother?” Scar said looking at her weirdly

“Oh uh. He just smells really good. Like REALLY GOOD.  He smells like Hershey's chocolate!" she yelled

“Um, thanks?” Nate said finally coming out of his daze. Hmmm, she said he smells really good...OH MY GOD!

“YOU GUYS ARE MATES!” I exclaimed

“Ohhhhh, that's why” the girl I didn't know nodded, but then as if realization struck her her eyes bulged out of their sockets.

“WHAT! YOU'RE MY MATE! OH NO, I DIDN'T WANT TO FIND MINE THIS EARLY. I STILL HAVE A WHOLE LIFE AHEAD OF ME!” she ranted and Nate was just standing there with his jaw slack.

“Why are you just standing there?!” she yelled and he shook his head

“Oh, I um-I just, I can't believe it!” he said awestruck and I laughed

“You're human too! Oh boy, of course you are!” she grumbled and Nate had a look of hurt for a second

“What’s your name, anyway?” The girl asked Nate after calming down

“Nathan” he said and she grinned

“I like the name Nathan. My name is Jenna” she smiled. Now she seemed like she was warming up to us.

“I like the name Jenna” Nate grinned and Jenna laughed

“What about you guys?” she asked now looking over to the rest of us, who were just watching them.

“My name is Avery” I said shyly and the rest of my friends introduced themselves.

“Meghan”

“Hunter”

“Parker, Avery’s mate”

“My name’s Scarlett”

“Maddison, but you can call me Madds”

“Oh by the way Scarlett is my mate” Hunter added after he heard what Parker said. Scarlett blushed at his words while I glared at Parker.

“Wow! We’ll what are you guys doing here?” she asked politely

“Oh, well. Avery here, is actually the daugh-” Parker started to explain but I put my hand over his mouth

“I’m here to see someone” I said quickly and Parker glared at me

“OH! Who?” she asked curious

“Alex.” I said deciding to go with that

“Oh, Alex!” Jenna exclaimed

“Alex, is like one of my best friends” she explained and I grinned

“Wow, that great” I said and looked over to all my friends. Nate was staring at Jenna, Hunter was playing with Scar’s hair, Scarlett was looking at Hunter, Meg was nodding, agreeing with me, Parker was also nodding and Madds had strange look on her face.

‘Madds?’ I asked through the mind link and she snapped out of her daze

‘Yeah’ she said quickly

‘What are you thinking about?’ I questioned

‘Nothing’ she responded but through the mind link I felt that something was bothering her

‘Really?’ I asked in a non believing voice

‘Well, it’s just the name Alex. I get this weird feeling whenever someone says his name’ she gave in

‘Oh, ok’ I closed the link and started thinking. Why would that happen?

“I’ll show you guys around” Jenna suggested snapping me out of my gaze and I looked at her

“Sure” Parker said taking the words out of my mouth.

“Let’s go!” Nate said excitedly and ran up to Jenna.
