Chapter 10
Vicky stood up immediately to greet Tyler. âTyler.â
Tyler paused. âWhy are you here?â
âSince you refused to answer my call, I can only come here to look for you,â Vicky answered.
âIs there any problem?â he asked.
Ready to speak, Vicky said, âItâs regarding Ceceââ
âIâm not going to do anything about that,â interjected Tyler indifferently, âand the same goes for you.â
âBut sheâs innocent.â
âThere are many innocent people in this world. Do I need to care about every single one of them?â he
replied rather harshly.
Vicky was hurt by his indifferent attitude. âWeâre now divorced yet, so Iâm still your wife.â
He did not understand what Vicky was trying to get at. âSo?â
She took a deep breath. âIf youâre willing to help, Iâll agree to leave this marriage without taking
anything and money.â
âLeave this marriage without taking anything and money, you say?â His lips twisted into a disdainful
smile. âVicky Shaw, are you thinking of taking parts of my assets?â
âAccording to the law, the assets of the husband and wife are to be divided equally during a divorce.â
Tyler chuckled. His eyes were cold like the stream water as he said remotely, âWe have a prenuptial
agreement. It stated that youâre willing to leave this marriage without taking anything or money from the
Hart family.â
âWhat did you say?!â Her eyes widened in shock. âDid water get into my brain or something? Why did I
sign such an unfair agreement?â she thought.
It seemed like Tyler could not be bothered to talk with her as he raised his feet and left her. She did not
realize the only bargaining chip she had was screwed by the old her.
Looking at the tall, lean man, she said loudly, âIf youâre willing to help me, Iâll cooperate with you fully
with the divorce! If you donât, thenâ¦â
She decided to cut off all means of retreat and shouted, âDonât ever think about divorcing me. Your
sweetheart will forever be a mistress!â
This effectively stopped Tyler as he looked back and said coldly, âVicky Shaw, are you threatening
me?â
His cold eyes rested on her; it felt light and yet relatively substantial. It was so oppressive that one
would not dare to look back.
Vickyâs heart shrunk inexplicably. For some reason, she felt like leaving so he could not stare at her.
Then again, she thought of Cece. She thus forced herself to stay calm and mustered her courage to
gaze back at him. âWhat if I said yes?â
Tyler looked at her quietly with his deep, dark eyes. The stare lasted so long that their souls seemed to
be sucked into each otherâs eyes.
Vickyâs heart quivered in insecurity. She knew she already agreed to the divorce and that it was
unethical for her to change her mind. Nonetheless, she had nothing else to gamble on apart from that.
Perhaps she did, before she lost her memory. At this moment, she could not even remember most
people, and the only person she knew that could help her was Tyler.
With a stone-cold face, he said, âJust you wait.â
He turned and left. If he was easily intimidated, then he would not be the Tyler Hart he was today.
Vicky was stunned as she felt unable to move. After regaining her senses, she chased after him.
Tyler had already driven off by the time she got outside.
â¦
For the next few days, Tyler did not return home nor answered Vickyâs call. She tried all sorts of
methods and still failed to bail out Cece, not even having the chance to see her.
The Larson family was a powerful and influential family, and regular folk could never save Cece after
she hurt Hector.
The sun was scorching hot when Vicky went to the hospital. This was the third day she came to the
hospital, and she was hoping to talk with Missus Larson. However, she did not even get the chance to,
let alone enter the ward where Hector was staying.
Two bodyguards stopped her from entering the ward and disallowed her from getting close. Obviously,
Missus Larson did not wish to see her. After she left the hospital, she went to Hart Corporation again.
Cece was the only one who cared about her when she woke up from unconsciousness. No matter what
it took, she vowed to save her.
As she arrived at Hart Corporation, the same two front desk women did not dare to say anything after
seeing Vicky, having learned their lesson. Vicky also did not plan on making it difficult for them. She just
sat on the sofa in the lobby and waited.
After what seemed to be ages, someone strutted in, walking in her high heels. Vicky lifted her head and
saw a familiar face.
At the same time, Sasha saw her sitting by herself on the sofa too. She asked, âWhatâs the deal with
that woman?â
Clearly, the front desk girls knew Sasha. They still held a grudge against Vicky, but they did not dare to
indulge in it. âGood day, Miss Young. This woman is here to see Mister Hart, but she doesnât have an
appointment. According to the rules, weâre not allowed to let her in.â
The other front desk girl mumbled, âShe claimed to be Missus Hart but canât even get through Mister
Hartâs phoneâ¦â
Sasha pretended to feel shocked. She smiled evilly and slowly approached where Vicky was sitting.
âGoodness me. Who is this? Isnât it Miss Shaw? Wait, Iâm wrong.â Lifting a hand to cover her mouth,
she giggled and said, âDidnât you claim to be Missus Hart? Why are you sitting here and not upstairs?â
Vicky looked at Sashaâs devilish expression and said nothing. This, however, merely fueled Sasha to
be more haughty.
âDidnât I remind you to be smart and stop bothering Tyler? You refused to listen and invited humiliation.
Tsk, tsk, tsk!â
Sasha smacked her own face lightly and exaggeratedly remarked, âDo your face hurt now?â
Vicky stared at her coldly. âYouâre the one who did this to Cece, didnât you?â
Sasha was so pleased with herself that if she had a tail, it would have been standing upright in the air.
âYeah, it was,â she replied haughtily, âbut so what? Itâs your assistant whoâs in trouble. Even if itâs youâ¦
Tyler wonât blame me.â
She giggled, having thought of something.
âHave you forgotten how you were pushed into the pool?â
Vickyâs eyes shrunk and the expression in her eyes turned cold.
Sasha sighed like she was in trouble.
She turned around and asked both front desk women, âOh, no, I dropped by all of a sudden today and
didnât make an appointment. Will there be any problem for me to go find Tyler?â
One of the women smiled. âBased on your relationship with Mister Hart, you donât need an appointment
at all. Youâre welcome to go now. Donât let us waste your time.â
Sasha became cockier at this response. She looked at Vicky contemptuously and insinuated, âThereâre
always shameless women whoâll try their luck at seducing Tyler. Both of you have to keep your eyes
open, and donât let these shameless, indecent women in.â
