Vicky shot him a faint smile. âMister Hart, isnât it too early to discuss such matters? Letâs wait until after
a month to see if it actually happens.â She took out the clothes from her shopping bag and said, âItâs
getting late. You should change into your work clothes and head to the office soon.â
âI didnât eat much yesterday,â Tyler replied, sitting on the couch without moving. âMake me breakfast.â
A hint of annoyance flashed past Vickyâs eyes, but she calmly suppressed it. âAlright, Iâll go and
prepare breakfast for you while you get changed.â
She did not want to give Tyler any more excuses to bother her.
After breakfast was ready, Tyler appeared downstairs fully dressed. They ate in silence, and soon after,
Tyler left.
As he drove away, Vicky noticed that he had shamelessly parked his car in the villaâs garage.
Not long after Tylerâs departure, Vicky received a call from Aurora.
âVicky, the thunder last night was so terrifyingâ¦â Auroraâs voice sounded weak from a sleepless night.
âI called Tyler, but he didnât answer. I stayed up all night, I was too afraid to sleep.â
Vicky did not know what to say. After all, it made sense that Tyler did not answer any of Auroraâs calls
because he was with Vicky all night.
Suppressing her guilt, Vicky spoke, âWhy donât you just go home and apologize to your parents? Iâm
sure they wonât blame you for what happened.â
âNot a chance,â Aurora immediately refused. âIf I go home now, they might think that I plan on
accepting their arrangements, and I wonât be able to pursue a career in the entertainment industry
anymore if I do that.â
âThen⦠Why not hire a female bodyguard to go with you?â
âIt feels awkward and strange to be in the same room with someone I donât know well.â
Vicky wanted to point out that they were not familiar with each other either, and it would be awkward for
Aurora to stay at her place. Moreover, it was odd for her ex-husbandâs current fiance to be anywhere
near her.
Vicky did not relent. âSince you didnât sleep well last night, you should rest properly during the day.â
âVickyâ¦â
âI have something else to attend to, so Iâll hang up now.â
After ending the call, Vicky let out a long sigh.
With Cece and Jennifer gone, Vicky brought all her work back home.
After breakfast, she sat in her study room and began to work. The moment Vicky was immersed in her
work, she started to lose track of time.
After a while, her work reached a temporary pause and she had a moment to regain her senses.
She rubbed her shoulders and checked the time, realizing it was already past five.
When she glanced at the sky, she noticed that it was raining again. Luckily it was not as heavy as the
previous night.
Vicky went downstairs to prepare some food for herself and since she was alone, she only prepared
simple dishes.
Just then, her phone rang.
Looking at the screen, she realized that it was a call from Aurora.
She stared at her phone while it vibrated for a while before answering the call. Vicky could not bring
herself to act like close friends with Aurora and said, âMiss Starling.â
âVickyâ¦â Aurora called out weakly. âIâm outside your door⦠Can you come outside for a moment?â
Startled, Vicky said, âWhat?!â
âItâs been raining all day and itâs dark out here. Iâm really scaredâ¦â
Vicky gazed outside the window and spotted a slim figure outside the main door.
