Chapter 1040
âI can see for myself if something is going on between you two and decide if he is worthy of my hand in
marriage! Itâll be like killing two birds with one stone!â Aurora said.
Vicky did not know if all noble ladies who grew up under their parentâs watchful eyes behaved this way.
As she stared into the innocent look in Auroraâs eyes, she said, âDid you not see the way Tyler was
holding me just now?â
âThatâs because you fell,â Aurora said. âYou were injured and couldnât walk. Wouldnât it be normal for
him to help you up?â She chuckled innocently. âDoesnât that show how much of a caring person he is?â
Vicky was rendered speechless and realized that hinting that something was wrong would not work.
Vicky took a deep breath and decided to be honest. âMiss Starling, thereâs something⦠I want to tell
you.â
âWhat is it?â Aurora asked curiously.
âTyler and I⦠Weâre not completely separated⦠I⦠Iâ¦â Vicky found it difficult to put into words. Finally,
she mustered her courage and said, âOn the night of Old Madam Harrisonâs birthday banquet⦠I
entered the wrong room and⦠and Iâ¦â
Vicky struggled to continue.
Both of them were adults, so she was hoping that Aurora would be able to understand what she was
implying.
Aurora widened her eyes and asked, âDo you mean to say that you and Tylerâ¦â
Vicky closed her eyes and said, âIâm sorry, Miss Starling.â
She expected Aurora to slap her in the face, but instead of a slap, she heard Auroraâs laughter.
Confused, Vicky opened her eyes.
Aurora smiled and said, âVicky, youâre so adorable. You canât even lie properly.â
âWhat? Lie?â
âYes, if something had really happened between you and Tyler that night, do you think Elijah would be
unaware of it? Missus Harrison even mentioned that the Harrison family would have a grandchild
soon.â Aurora sighed helplessly and said, âVicky, I know itâs difficult for you to accommodate both me
and Tyler under your roof, but⦠Iâm currently in a situation where I canât go home and I canât stay at
Tylerâs place. Now that heâs injured and needs careâ¦â She paused to sigh and added, âItâs my fault for
not explaining to you what happened, that must be why you stabbed him. His severe injury is
complicating this whole thing now. How I wish he wasnât injuredâ¦â She snapped out of it and covered
her mouth frantically. âOh⦠Vicky, I donât mean to blame you! Itâs just that Tyler needs someone to take
care of him and⦠I donât want others to find out⦠What if they come after you⦠I really donât mean to
sound like Iâm blaming you.â
Despite what Aurora said, Vicky knew that it was her fault. Aurora had close to no involvement in the
incident and Vicky had merely lost control because of Tylerâs relentless taunting. Logically, Aurora
should not bear the consequences that followed.
At the moment, Aurora was offering to help with taking care of Tyler and even agreed to keep the entire
incident a secret, so Vicky knew that she had no right to reject Auroraâs kind request.
As her final struggle, she said, âIâm not saying that because I donât want you to stay here, Miss Starling.
Tyler and I⦠donât really get along.â
Aurora did not buy it and chuckled. âI know you two donât get along. Why else would you get a divorce?
If something really was going on between you two, you wouldnât dare keep it from me. Itâs settled, then.
Leave taking care of Tyler to me. You can get on with your life and we wonât cause you any trouble.â
She tapped Vicky on the shoulder and said, âI should go and check on Tyler. Itâs getting late, so you
should get some sleep.â
With that, Aurora left the room, and Vicky remained frozen in place.
