Tyler stared at her quietly for a moment, before saying,” Seeing how you performed well today, I can let

the Harrisons off the hook. For now.”

“For now?”

“That’s right. If you upset me again, the Harrisons will suffer again.”

Vicky’s heart sank.

With Cece and Jennifer gone, Tyler had resorted to using the Harrisons as his hostage.

“For how long?” She said abruptly.

“What?”

“How long do you want me to keep sleeping with you?”

“Obviously, until I lose interest in y-“

Before he could finish, Vicky interrupted him.

“Our arrangement ends on the day of your wedding.” Determination and resolve flickered in her eyes.

“If you still want to use the Harrisons to pressure me into doing what you want after your wedding day,

then I’ll just let you be.” i

Tyler was somewhat surprised. “You don’t care about the Harrisons anymore?”

Vicky’s tone was calm. “I don’t want to hurt one person for the sake of another. Besides, if the

Harrisons face bankruptcy today because of you, they might face it due to someone else’s schemes

some other day. I have limited abilities, and I’ll do my best for the Harrisons. The rest… The rest will be

beyond my control, and I’ll leave it to fate to decide.”

She could bow down to Tyler’s coercion if necessary, but she would never let him manipulate her

forever. If he pushed her to the edge, she wouldn’t fear confrontation and would let go of everything so

he would have nothing to hold over her.

Confronted by her bright and clear eyes, Tyler momentarily lost his composure.

He knew she had her limits; even if he could threaten her into complying temporarily with all means at

his disposal, he could never control her forever.

If that day truly came when she decided that she had enough, the heartlessness she would display

would exceed everyone’s expectations.

She was never the type of woman to silently endure the pain.

Vicky did not notice Tyler’s reaction and reminded him once again, “Since you’ve temporarily spared

the Harrisons, can you call your assistant and inform your people to stop targeting them?”

Tyler glanced at Vicky and picked up the phone from the bedside table, before making the call in front

of her.

Upon hearing Tyler’s instructions, Vicky’s body visibly relaxed.

Exhaustion and drowsiness overwhelmed her, and she closed her eyes, falling into a deep sleep.

She woke up around noon the next day. Picking up her phone, Vicky noticed several missed calls, all

from Elijah.

Vicky returned his call. “Elijah, did you call me for something?”

Elijah’s voice came from the other end of the line. “Vicky, the situation with the Harrisons has

temporarily stabilized. The other party is no longer forcing us to leave the old mansion. In fact, we’ve

already settled back in.”

Vicky had intended to inquire about the situation during the day, but upon hearing Elijah’s words, she

felt relieved. “I’m glad to hearthat.”

After a brief hesitation, Elijah asked, “Vicky, did you… Were you the one that went to Tyler for a favor?”

Even if Vicky did not say anything, Elijah knew very well that the turning point in the family’s situation

was likely related to her.

Vicky’s voice carried an apologetic tone. “I’m sorry for causing trouble for the Harrisons.”

Elijah shook his head. “It’s not your fault. It’s my own

problem. I knew that Tyler wasn’t someone to be trifled with, but I didn’t make the severity of our

relationship clear to my father. Thank you… for resolving this whole mess.”

“How is Grandma doing?”

“For now, she’s alright. She was a bit exhausted from the events of yesterday. Whenever you have

time, you should come and visit her.”

“Of course, I’ll come by when I have the time.”
