Chapter 1150
Neither Angela nor Vicky expected Avery to pull off such a move.
Caught off-guard, no one reacted in time. The hat was snatched off in an instant, and the dark blue
mark on Vickyâs forehead was revealed.
âWhatâ¦?â Surprised by the sight before her, Averyâs eyes widened, and she dropped the hat onto the
ground.
Angela paled and instinctively stood in front of Vicky, trying to shield her from Averyâs gaze, but Vicky
pushed Angela aside and slowly walked up to Avery, taking off her mask and glasses.
Seeing Vickyâs face, Avery involuntarily took a few steps back, fear flickering in her eyes.
Unconcerned by Averyâs frightened expression, Vicky calmly said, âIâm sorry for scaring you.â
She then bent down to pick up her hat.
Averyâs lips moved as if she wanted to say something but could not at the sight.
Vicky glanced at Avery and was about to put on her hat when a low, gentle voice came from behind,
tinged with unmistakable surprise.
âVicky?!â
Vicky froze.
Footsteps approached as the person walked briskly to her side.
âVicky, how have you been lately? Has your health improved?
Vicky lowered her head and stood silently.
Puzzled that Vicky refused to look at her, Lincoln muttered,â Vicky, whatâs wron-â
Before he could finish his sentence, Vicky lifted her head and looked at Lincoln.
Lincoln was instantly taken aback and gaped at her in disbelief. âVicky, what⦠What happened to your
face?â
Lincoln was also wearing a hat, glasses, and a mask, similar to her attire.
Vicky looked at Lincoln calmly. âI was poisoned with some kind of toxin.â
âToxin?â Lincoln quickly regained his usual composure.
He showed no hint of disgust or repulsion as carefully examining her, his voice carrying deep concern.
âWhat happened? Who poisoned you?â
Vicky shook her head. âIâm not entirely sure. We havenât found the culprit.â
âHave you found the antidote?â
âNot yet.â
Lincoln observed her with concern. âDo you feel any discomfort now?â
âNo.â Vicky avoided Lincolnâs gaze. âIâm perfectly healthy except for whatâs going on with my face.
There are no major issues so far.â
Lincoln took a few steps forward. âVicky, can you tell me in detail how you were poisoned?â
A trace of hesitation flashed in Vickyâs eyes.
Lincoln turned to look at Avery and said, âAvery, I need to speak with Vicky in private. You should go
back.â
Averyâs expression darkened slightly, but the tension on her face instantly eased when she saw Vickyâs
face.
âAlright. You two go ahead, then. I will get out of your hair,â she said generously.
After Avery was gone, Vicky turned to Angela and said, âYou need to give us some space.â
Angela narrowed her eyes. âBut Mister Hartâ¦â
âIâm only speaking to Second Young Master alone for a while. It wonât take long.â
âButâ¦â
Vicky interrupted her. Relax. You can still supervise me from afar. Itâll just be a few minutes.â
