Chapter 1155
Averyâs knees went weak just from hearing Tylerâs voice.
Tyler slowly turned around, and his dark, deep gaze landed on her.
Avery paled at this, and after steadying herself, she raised an eyebrow and asked, âTyler Hart, is this
how you treat a lady?â
Tyler could not be bothered with her pretense and said, âDid you poison Vicky?â
âWhat?â Avery looked at him blankly. âWhat are you talking about? I donât understand you.â
âIâve investigated the matter. You donât need to keep up your act,â Tyler stated flatly.
Avery was bewildered for a moment before something seemed to dawn on her. âDo you really think I
poisoned Vicky? When she was ill, you were so attentive to her that you took care of everything
yourself. I only saw Vicky once with Lincoln on the day she woke up, and we were kept at a distanceâ¦
Are you suggesting that I could have poisoned her from afar?â
The look in Tylerâs eyes hardened. âWho said that all poisons have to take immediate effect?â
Avery wanted to defend herself, but then she saw Tyler produce a vial of medicine. âThe seven-day
incubation
period is enough to clear your suspicion, especially when this bottle itself wasnât brought over by you.â
As Avery caught sight of the vial, her gaze flickered slightly. After a few seconds of silence, she
suddenly burst into laughter. âI guess you have it all figured out.â
She knew Tyler was not the kind of person who could be easily deceived by others, so she stopped
pretending. She raised her delicate chin proudly and said, âThatâs right. I switched the medicine Lincoln
gave to his mother.â Seeing the darkening expression on Tylerâs face, Avery chuckled lightly. âBut that
all works out in your favor, donât you agree?â
To my favor?â Tyler questioned.
âAm I wrong? You bought this poison from the black market to use it on Vicky, right? I was just doing
what you wanted,â Avery replied with a hint of innocence on her face. She tilted her head, puzzled.
âShouldnât you be happy? Youâve achieved your goal, and someone else took the blame for it.â
She studied his expression, and realization dawned on her.â Oh, I see⦠Do you regret it now because
Vicky looks too ugly for your taste? Thatâs not a problem, you knowâ¦â A mischievous smile formed on
Averyâs lips. â1 have the antidote give it to you. But you should understand that thereâs no free lunch in
this world. If you want something, you have to pay for it. As long as youâre willing to agree to a
condition of mine, Iâll give you the antidote.â
Tyler narrowed his eyes darkly. âAnd what do you want?â
Avery stared into his eyes and drawled, âI want you to marry me and be my man.â
âMiss Yeager, have you forgotten that you are engaged to Lincoln?â he asked mockingly.
âDonât you worry about that,â she said cheerfully. âLincoln and I have signed an agreement to dissolve
our
engagement. The only reason that I kept that a secret so far is becauseâ¦â She shot him a shy look. âI
wonât be able to stay here and see you if I announce it.â
Avery was quite impressed by Lincoln, but she lost all interest in him from the moment she first met
Tyler.
