Chapter 1249
As Vicky slept, however, she felt something gently stroking her cheek. It almost felt as though she was
tickled by a feather.
Vicky instinctively scratched her cheek, and the tickling sensation disappeared. After a while, her cheek
started itching again.
Vicky had not been sleeping well and started to sober up due to the sensation.
Her long eyelashes fluttered as she slowly opened her eyes.
A pair of cold, disdainful eyes were staring at her silently.
Vicky was taken aback before exclaiming with delight, âTyler! Youâre awake?!â
She reached out to feel the temperature on his forehead, but he turned his head away, avoiding her
touch.
Vickyâs hand stiffened for a moment. âHow do you feel now? Are you still uncomfortable?â she asked.
Tyler did not answer her question, and the look in his eyes remained distant. âWhy are you here?â His
voice was hoarse, but his disdain and detachment were unmistakable.
âIâm sorry,â Vicky apologized softly. âAbout yesterday⦠It was my fault.â
Tyler sneered. âI recall hearing you solemnly promising yesterday that youâd never appear in front of
me again.â He scanned her from head to toe. âDid you come prepared with the divorce agreement for
me to sign, Ms. Shaw?â
Vicky told herself countless times to not argue with him and not to be influenced by his words.
However, upon hearing his cold taunts, she almost broke her resolve.
âYesterday⦠I acted impulsively, and Iâm sorry about that.â Vicky gazed into his dark eyes. âYou got
injured because of me, and I shouldnât have left you alone at the hospital.â
âSo you do remember why Iâm in a hospital to begin with, huh?â Tylerâs expression remained blank.
âHere I thought youâve lost her memory, too.â
âI⦠Iâm sorry, this wonât happen again in the future,â said Vicky.
âIn the future?â His thin lips curved slightly. âDo you think Iâd still believe you?â
Vicky wanted to argue but was interrupted by a knock on the door.
Subsequently, Aurora walked in. âVicky, Iâll go buy breakfast in a bit. What do you want to eat? Iâll get
you some-â Her gaze swept across the room and fell on Tyler.
She paused for a moment, then smiled. âTwo critically ill notifications were issued yesterday, so I didnât
expect the almighty Mister Hart to wake up so soon!â
The look in Tylerâs eyes darkened further at the sight of Aurora. âSorry to disappoint you, Miss Starling.â
Aurora pouted. âYou did it again, Tyler; you managed to fill Vicky so full of guilt that she went back on
her word and rushed here in the middle of the night to see you.â
âAre you saying that I did this on purpose?â he questioned.
âYou know the answer to that.â
The more Aurora dwelled on it, the more she realized that something was wrong.
Tyler had always accepted being taken care of by Vicky despite what he said, and it surprised Aurora
that he chased Vicky out.
At this moment, Aurora realized that it was only another one of his tactics to pin Vicky down so she
could not leave again even if she wanted to. âFine. I did all this on purpose. I brought this on myself,â
he said coldly.
