Chapter 1274
Tyler had passed out from a dangerously high fever. It was just a matter of time before he caught a
fever with him being drenched with the rain and standing in the cold wind for so long. He only had
himself to blame for this.
Vicky stood by his bedside and looked anxiously at his pale face. She then turned toward the doctor
who was busy tending to him and asked, âDoctor, why is he still burning up?â
âWell, he hadnât fully recovered when he went out to stand in the rainâ¦â The doctorâs face darkened
when he saw the temperature reading on the thermometer. âNot only is his temperature not coming
down, but itâs actually going up, too.â
Vicky felt her breath caught in her throat. âDoes he need to go to the hospital?â
The doctor shook his head. âNo. The hospital will only hook him up with some IV drips like Iâm doing
now. Besides, we shouldnât put any more stress on his bodyâ¦â
After a pause, he added sternly, âBased on the current situation, I think itâs best to use a traditional
method of lowering his body temperature. He canât go on burning like this.â
âWhatâs going to happen if he continues to burn like this?â asked Vicky worriedly.
âAt best, he might get mild pneumonia, butâ¦â The doctor sighed. âAt worst, he might get brain
damage.â
âBrain damage?â Vicky glanced at Tyler and asked softly, âDo you mean heâll mentally degrade?â
âWellâ¦â The doctor did not want to jinx anything, so he went about it in a roundabout way. âThere are
some clinical cases where patients exhibit mental retardation after experiencing a dangerously high
fever, so itâs best we proceed with caution.â
A chill gripped Vickyâs heart. âHeâs lost his memory, and if he gets further brain damageâ¦â She did not
think any further, so she distracted herself by cooling down Tyler by placing a cold towel on his
forehead, replacing it with a new cold one whenever the towel got hot.
After some time, Harry noticed Vickyâs hands had become red and peeling from submerging them too
long in the cold water, so he took over the task of placing the cold towel on Tylerâs forehead.
However, as soon as he got close, Tyler would struggle. It was as if he would not allow anyone else
other than Vicky to get close to him. Hence, Harry had no choice but to give back the cold towel to
Vicky.
For the entire night, Vicky worked tirelessly to change the cold towels on Tylerâs work paid off as his
body temperature finally came down when morning broke.
âMissus Hart, Mister Tylerâs condition has stabilized. Why donât you leave him to me so you can rest?â
Harry asked softly.
Vicky was indeed tired, so she took him up on the offer.
âOkay,â she said with a nod.
After she got back to her room, she showered and went straight to sleep. Iâll need to continue to take
care of Tyler for the foreseeable future, so I canât give up now.â
Vicky had no idea how long she had slept as rapid knocks were heard on her door.
âMissus Hart, are you awake?â
She realized the sky outside had darkened when she opened her eyes. She looked at the time,
thinking, âHave I slept for so long?â
She then quickly went to open the door. âHas Tyler woken up?â
âYes. He insisted on seeing you, so I had no choice but to wake you up,â answered Harry
apologetically.
Vicky felt more invigorated after she heard Tyler had woken up. âWhen did he wake up?â
âNot long ago.â
Vicky nodded and followed Harry to Tylerâs bedroom.
Tyler was indeed awake. He was leaning against the headboard and looking at the sunset outside the
window.
