Both Vicky and Tyler fell into silence once again.
After a while, Tylerâs voice echoed in the room. âThink of it as my effort of leaving something to
remember this dream with. In this dream, we can find a perfect ending.â
Vicky jolted. âSo he knew all along. Heâs read my mind like he always has without me saying a word.1
She looked at the indifferent look on his face. âWhy are you bringing this up today?â
Tyler turned to look at her, his eyes deep and unfathomable. âVicky, youâve been too good to me; so
good that I canât help but want this dream to last forever. Unfortunately, thatâs not the case.â
Vicky trembled. âSo?â
âIf you donât want to be with me, donât treat me so well.â He smiled bitterly. âIâm afraid Iâll use any means
necessary to keep you by my side if this goes on.â
Vicky suddenly remembered what Jennifer had said during dinner not long ago and thought, âHave I
been wrong? If he only has a yearâs worth of memories about me, does that mean his feelings for me
arenât that deep just yet? If I donât try to provoke him by saying that I have another lover like I did
before, will he react differently?â
âYouâ¦â Vicky tried to speak but could not find her voice.
She wanted to ask Tyler if he was willing to let go but found herself struggling to speak.
âItâs getting late.â Tyler stood abruptly. âRest early.â
Maybe he was unwell because he began to sway in his steps.
Vicky reflexively reached out to support him and asked,â Tyler, are you feeling?â
âItâs nothing.â Tyler withdrew his arm from her support and said, âIâm just a bit dizzy.â
âShould I call a doctor to check on you?â
âIâm fine.â
âButâ¦â Vicky wanted to argue but was interrupted by Tyler.
âVicky, have you forgotten what just I said?â His tone was indifferent. âDonât bother yourself.â
With that, he turned and left.
Vicky stared blankly at his figure as he walked away, and she felt hurt.
Back in her room, Tyler was nowhere to be found.
Thinking back to their conversation, her expression darkened, and she pushed open the bedroom door
to search for him.
Just then, Tyler-who had showered-stepped out of the room next door and stilled when he saw Vicky.
âWhyâ¦â She glanced at the water dripping from his hair.â Why are you in that room?â
âIâll be sleeping in this room from now on,â he said.
âIs he trying to distance himself from me?â she thought before saying, âYou can take the bedroom. I will
sleep in the guest bedroom.â
âItâs fine,â he coolly replied.
âBut you havenât made full recoveryâ¦â
