Chapter 1397
Vicky called Tyler several times, but he never picked up. Finally, Vicky stood up.
Just then, she heard the sound of the door opening. Simultaneously, unsteady footsteps echoed in the
hallway, and Harry walked in supporting Tyler.
A strong scent of alcohol hung in the air as Vicky approached. She looked at them, concerned. âWhy
did you drink so much?â
Harry cleared his throat awkwardly and explained, âWe secured a major deal today, and Mister Hart
was quite pleased, soâ¦he ended up having a bit too much to drink.â
Tyler was always reserved most of the time and rarely got drunk, so Vicky found it rather difficult to
believe he would get carried away over a business deal.
âYou can go home now. Iâll help him upstairs,â she said.
âOkay.â
After Harry left, Vicky supported Tyler and guided him to their bedroom.
He was shaky in his steps, and his entire weight rested upon her. Though he was not overweight, his
tall figure made it difficult to help him up the stairs.
She gently placed him onto the bed, then proceeded to remove his shoes and coat.
The crystal chandelier above cast a bright glow, and his profound features appeared perfect and
mysterious in the radiant light.
Vicky fetched a damp towel from the bathroom, wanting to wipe away the remnants of alcohol from his
face. Tyler lay quietly on the bed with his eyes closed, and his long eyelashes cast a faint shadow over
his face.
His shirt collar was undone, revealing his Adamâs apple and collarbones.
As she approached with the towel, Tyler suddenly opened his eyes.
âAre you awake?â Vicky looked at him. âWhy did you drink so much? Does your head hurt?â
He blinked and watched her intently.
Seeing the vacant look in his eyes, Vicky grew worried.â Tyler, are you okay?â
For reasons Tyler could not fathom, the worry on her face transformed into coldness and disgust in his
eyes.
His eyes widened, and he swiftly turned to pin her down.
Startled, the towel slipped from Vickyâs hand and fell to the floor. âTyler, whatâs wrong?â
His towering figure blocked out the light behind him. âVicky, you canât leave me, ever.â Tylerâs voice was
hoarse as he lowered his head and gently kissed her earlobe. His breath was scorching.
Despite being drunk, he was still extremely strong.
Trapped between the bed and his chest, Vicky found herself unable to escape.
âIâve never thought of leaving,â she reassured him gently. âI promised you that I wonât leave you again,
Tyler.â
âYou promised before, too.â He narrowed his eyes dazedly.â But you still left anyway⦠I worked so hard
to make you mine, yet you keep running from me.â Intoxicated, he spoke slowly, âIâm boring and
unromantic. You only started dating me to thank me for what I did. I know youâve never liked or loved
me⦠I could only trick you and force you into marrying me and staying by my side⦠Iâve never
regretted it, and I never will.â
Touched, Vicky said patiently, âTyler, what I said when I broke up with you doesnât mean anything. You
are amazing, and you kept me safe when I needed protection most⦠I didnât date you simply to repay
the debt I owed you.â
Still, Tyler remained agitated, and his eyes reddened. âSo why are you doing this to me?!â
