Chapter 1402
âSure enough, it doesnât feel so good,â remarked Tyler.
Vicky walked over and frowned when she spotted the cigarette between his fingers. âWhy are you
smoking again?â She pouted and snatched the cigarette before putting it out. âYouâve just recovered.
You canât smoke and drink.â
Tyler did not stop her and simply stared at her intently. âMy secretary said that you came to the office
looking for me yesterday.â
Vickyâs gaze flickered as she answered, âYeah. You werenât there.â
His gaze was steady as he asked, âWhy didnât you call?â
âI didnât want to get in the way of your work, so I didnât call.â She looked away and continued, âYour
secretary told me that you went out to sign a contract, so I left. I wanted to tell you about it when you
came home, but you came home late and drunk, soâ¦â
Tyler pulled her toward himself.
Caught off-guard, Vicky tumbled into his embrace. His sturdy arms securely wrapped around her
slender waist, settling her onto his lap.
Their faces were inches away, their expressions visible to one another.
His pleasant voice resonated in her ear. âDid you have something you wish to discuss?â
Vickyâs lashes fluttered gently in the warm light as a hint of hesitation and inner conflict surfaced in her
eyes. Finally, she took a deep breath and gathered her resolve.
She lifted her gaze to meet his deep, enigmatic eyes. âTyler, are you planning to acquire Johnson
Corporation?â
Tyler did not shy away from her gaze. âYes.â
Vickyâs expression darkened slightly. âWhy? If itâs because of me, I can explainâ¦â
âIt has nothing to do with you,â interrupted Tyler. He extended his hand, his distinct knuckles gently
brushing against her hair. âThe next business move for Hart Corporation is to acquire Johnson
Corporation. Itâs a decision made unanimously by the companyâs board members. Itâs merely a normal
business action.â
Vicky narrowed her eyes. âBut Iâve seen Hart Corporationâs acquisition proposal. This type of
acquisition strategy.Js far from a normal business action. Itâs a hostile takeover.â She looked into his
tranquil eyes. âA high-priced acquisition followed by a low-priced resale is hardly the best way to
perform an acquisition. Can it really be considered normal business action?â
Tyler lifted his brow slightly as if her words struck a chord. However, he quickly reverted to his
indifferent demeanor.â Harvey is a formidable opponent. If we want to acquire Johnson Corporation,
conventional methods simply wonât work.â
âTyler, donât assume I donât understand the difference between acquisition and malicious suppression
just because Iâm not well-versed in business!â Vicky clenched her fist. âI wouldnât say a thing if it were
ordinary business competition, but why did you intercept Johnsonâs contracts and orders? Isnât this
behavior a form of malicious suppression?â
Tension rose in the air.
After some time, Tyler replied, his voice laced with a halfsmile.
