Alana quickly looked around to see whether anyone was around. She sighed with relief when she saw

no one was around.

“Calm down, Avery. The only people who know about this are you, me, and the doctor, right?” she

asked.

Avery immediately knew where her mother was going with this. “Mom, are you saying…”

“You just need to change the test result, and everything will be alright.”

Since Tyler was the head of the family, Alana hoped her daughter would get to marry him instead of

Lincoln. After all, Lincoln was just an adopted son who did not win against Tyler even when he had the

help of Valencia and Orion. This meant he was incompetent and unworthy of Avery.

Avery’s eyes turned red. “But the truth will come out if Tyler or Old Mister Hart asks for a retest.”

“If Tyler says the baby is his, no one will say otherwise.”

“What do you mean?”

“As long as Tyler says the baby is his, then…” Alana smiled lightly. “Then the baby is his.”

“I still don’t get what you’re trying to say.”

“Both Tyler and his grandfather have their own medical team, so they can’t be bought off.

Consequently, it’ll be impossible to hide the fact that the baby isn’t Tyler’s.”

“Mom, just what are you trying to say?”

“What I’m trying to say is… It doesn’t matter whether the baby is Tyler’s, as long as you make him

accept the baby as his.”

Avery looked at her mother as if she was crazy. “How the hell am I going to do that?”

A man might be willing to forgive cheating, but he would never accept another man’s kid as his own—

especially if the man in question was someone prominent and powerful like Tyler.

Alana smiled faintly. “Don’t forget we hold the power to end the Hart family right now. We just need to

tamper with the projects, and they’ll be finished!”

She knew it was a lose-lose scenario. The Yeagers would suffer some losses as well, but the Hart

would suffer the most.

“Tyler has just become the head of the family, so if something like this happens to the family’s fortune,

he’ll be ousted from his position. Not only will he lose everything he has, but his family will hate him as

well. Do you think he’d risk for something like that to happen?”

All men were born to have an inner drive to reach the top. Tyler was no different. In fact, it could be

said he was more ambitious than the average man. He had been working nonstop over the years to

attain power as the head of the family, so it was clear that the position was very important to him.

The more someone sacrificed to get something, the harder it would be for that person to give it up.

Avery had seen how hard Tyler worked all those years, so she knew it would be nearly impossible for

him to give up what he had.

Alana looked at her daughter. “Since the worst-case scenario has happened, the only way for you to

get yourself out of this is to force him to accept the baby as his and ultimately marry you.”

If given a choice, Avery would not want to have a falling out with Tyler either, but she was very

disappointed in him for choosing Vicky over the baby.

She had lost her last bargaining chip when the DNA test showed the baby was not Tyler’s, so the only

way for her to get him was to do as her mother told her.

“But Tyler’s going to hate me for doing this!” whined Avery. It was not enough for her to get him; she

wanted him to love her as well. The one thing she most could not stand in the world was for Tyler to

hate her.

Alana glanced at her. “He’s only going to hate you for a while. You can use your hypnotic control skills

to make him think the kid is his. He’ll surely love you then.”

Avery’s eyes lit up. “You’re right! Why didn’t I think of that? Okay, let’s do that, then! But the most

important thing now is to stop the wedding first!”
