However, reality proved very different from what Avery and Alana had hoped for.
Tyler refused to go along with their plans. He even went as far as threatening to cut ties with them.
âSorry, but Iâm not going to raise any kid that isnât mine,â he said ruthlessly. âAnd Iâll never marry a
woman who cheated on me while weâre engaged.â
Avery could not believe her ears. âBut you told me you believed me and that you forgave me!â
Tyler looked at Avery indifferently. âDonât tell me you really think Iâll be that forgiving? Or that I like being
cheated on and raising another manâs kid?â He sneered.
âTyler, is it because you think Iâmâ¦dirty now? I can explain. I didnât mean toââ
âI wouldnât want to marry you even if all those things didnât happen. Guess I forgot to tell you that Iâve
never liked you,â interjected Tyler.
âThen why did you agree to the engagement?!â asked Avery hysterically.
Tyler raised an eyebrow. âBecause you asked me to, and I thought Iâd go along with the plan until I
donât have to.â
Avery looked dazedly at him. At that moment, she strongly experienced just how cruel Tyler could be.
âSo was it all pretend? The thoughtfulness and gentleness youâve shown me?â she asked.
âGentleness? I donât remember ever being gentle with you.â
Avery gaped like a goldfish. She wanted to say something, but even her thoughts failed. It was as if
there was a rock stuck in her throat.
âTyler is right. Heâs never been gentle with me.â
Avery looked like she was about to cry. âJustâ¦what was I to you in all the four years weâve been
together?â
âWithout you and your familyâs support, it mightâve taken me longer to be the head of my family,â
answered Tyler ruthlessly.
He was not shy about burning bridges at all!
Staring at Tylerâs cold face, Avery finally realized something. She pointed at him and asked, âIt was you
who set me up to sleep with Lincoln, wasnât it?â
She had always felt something was off about this matter. After all, why would Lincoln suddenly appear
in her room when he was supposed to be sleeping with Vicky that night?
Avery could not figure out why the sudden change occurred, so in the end, she blamed Lincoln for
everything.
She thought it might be because Lincoln lusted after her or did not want her to marry Tyler, so he
changed his mind at the last minute.
Avery glared at Tyler. âAnd the video that played at our wedding ceremony! That was you too, wasnât
it?! You ruined our wedding because you didnât want to marry me!â
âYes,â said Tyler simply.
At that point, there was no need to hide the truth.
Hatred began to fill Averyâs eyes. She was clenching her fists so hard that some of her nails broke, and
even her gums were bleeding from all the teeth gnashing.
She looked into Tylerâs eyes. âTyler Hart, mark my wordsâyouâre going to regret this for the rest of
your life! Iâm going to make you pay for humiliating me like this!â
